Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Watching this game now, I'm praying that Choy is OK.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Aside from Choi's nasty fall...This game has been great with a AWESOME pitching duel between Rocket and Wood... For a while there we could've had a No-Hitter or a 300 Game...
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 7, 2003 And now we're getting neither

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Did Karros hit a HR on the very next pitch?!? That's so funny. I hope Clemens never gets 300.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted June 7, 2003 The Detroit blow was better though, since they had, what a 6-1 lead against the worst team in baseball and BLEW IT?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 8, 2003 and the fact they had to go 17 innings to get it back... The Game today had that Classic feeling going for it until the second Clemens was taken out and it dissapated the game into your normal saturday day at Wrigley save for an Horrific Scene with Wood and Choi. Guest Mole Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I don't know if anyone brought this up, but I'm not going to go through this whole topic to find it. If someone has, then say so and ignore this comment. I remember someone (I think it was Jose Canseco) saying last week that people are in such an up rape about Sammy's bat because of his color. If a white baseball player had done the same thing, this wouldn't be so huge. I think that is a load of horseshit. The reason its so big isn't because of color, but because of how huge Sosa is. He is one of the best homerun hitters in the past few years, and a role model to a lot of people. Color has NOTHING to do with people in a up rage.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Not that I agree with Jose, but very little fuss was made about Mark Macguire being a roided up freak during his homerun-athon. Evenif Sammy was using acorked bat, that means he should have been hittinh 540 yard homes instead of the 550 yarders he was hitting. They are making a much bigger fuss out of a obvious(or seemingly obvious) mistake. Mark didn't accidentally roid up and that made much more of a difference in his HR hitting power yet not as much noise is about that. Like I said, I don't buy into it, but a case can be made to support Jose's claims.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 11, 2003 McGwire got plenty of heat for admitting to using steroids. The Sosa incident happened 8 days ago. The further away we get from it the less we"ll hear about it.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 11, 2003 But people that don;t even watch baseball know about Sammy Sosa and the corked bat thanks to it being shoved down everyone's throat. The McGuire thing was big among baseball fans but most casual fans or non-fans don't know about it and I would wager that McGuire is more well known than Sosa. I think its more they don't have anything else to talk about, but Jose can seem to have a valid point.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Correct me if I'm wrong, but all McGwire was acknowledged to use during his big HR years was andro, and that was only because it was found in his locker. A lot of people might have speculated that he was juicing at the same time, but I don't remember hearing anything about it. And if it's come out after the fact, it hardly matters now, since Big Mac is retired.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Sosa's appeal lessened the sentence from 8 games to 7.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Sosa's appeal lessened the sentence from 8 games to 7. Well Sosa got it made to 7.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Two points..... 1. Ripper, those were 500 feet, not yards. 2. McGwire's case is different. MLB does not have rules against the use of andro. They do have rules against modifying bats.
