Bored 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2003 What change does this exactly signify, again? The change that cruiserweights won't be used for Hoss fodder? Nope. That cruiserweights are put in a respectible position? *looks at Jamie Noble, Spanky* nope. That hard work gets rewarded? *Looks at Benoit, Looks at Big Show* Nope. Hey I'm not naive enough to think this will signify the Cruiserweight division getting a lot more attention but maybe its just like you just bitch so much about things that when they do something cool like having the Cruiserweight title match close the show that I temporarily don't give a shit about the reality of the situation. BTW I think Spanky sucks so I could carless if he gets pushed but I know I'm in a very small minority there.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 4, 2003 I guess they'll have to edit the "Hulkamaniacs" part out of the end of the the Pipers Pit segment. I wonder if they'll switch shots and have him voice over "Americamaniacs" or if they'll just edit that whole part out....
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Right now it looks like either Brock/Rhyno vs. Benoit/Angle or Benoit/Brock vs. Rhyno Angle.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Rey's win makes SD a must see. This could mean good things for the guy. Arm-wrestling contest? Man, Vince is dumb!! You know you're an idiot when you're ripping off the HHH vs. Steiner fued. Looks like Vince finally gets the Sable/Steph lesbian storyline. You know, the only thing that amazes me more than the fact that Sable's career looks so much like Al Wilson's (so the whole Torrie thing is dropped?) is how creepy Vince loves his own daughter. Benoit vs. Rhyno? Benoit is wasting away in the midcard while everybody and their momma knows the guy deserves at least a chance in the main event. Having Rhyno win is pointless because I doubt they will let Rhyno in the main event and Benoit has lost so much beating him isn't a big thing. This helps no one. I'll watch this week for Angle's return (could have been much worse) and Rey vs. Matt.

Chris Benoit v.s. John Cena John Cena defeated Chris Benoit, and Rhyno tried to help, but he accidently hit Benoit. Rikishi & Torrie Wilson Torrie & Rikishi pick up the win after a neck breaker by Torrie on Nidia. Torrie & Rikishi dance after the match. Winners: Torrie Wilson & Rikishi After the match, free Undertaker t-shirts were thrown out to the crowd. Stephanie McMahon is backstage with Vince, and Vince announces Sable as Steph's new assistant. Rey Mysterio v.s. Matt Hardy Rey Mysterio defeated Matt Hardy to perhaps the biggest pop of the night, and he captures the Cruiser Weight Title. Mysterio got the win via a rollup type of move. Mysterio celebrates in the ring after the win, and Hardy got the hell out of the way. They then show Rey's wife & kids. Winner: Rey Mysterio wins the Cruiser Weight Title. I was at the show so I will add a few things Ultimo's entrance is the best in the WWE bar none. Awesome. Marked out like mad when he came out. He won with that move were he has you in a toehold and bridges back and pulls on your chin. Finish to the Spanky/O'Haire match is great, O'Haire countered the Slice Bread #2 with the Cruel Intentions. Huge applause when the Freddie tribute video was shown, crowd even started a loud "Freddie" chant Angle pop was Huge. Some fans still chanted "You Suck", Angle then got on the mike and said that he missed that chant so much, so he asked for his song to start over and urgued the fans to chant it even louder, which we did. He did the same thing with the the What ? chants. He told Brock that he has earned Angle's respect and thanked him for his concern while he was away. They shook hands and hugged to a big round of applause. John Cena was wearing a LaBron James high school jersey and had a great line saying that he is not in it for the money because LaBron took it all. Steph actually got a nice pop when she was appeared in the backstage segment. It looks like they will have the Sable is a lesbian storyline with Steph taking the place of Torrie. The cruiserweight match was incredible, lots of near falls. Top rope side effect, top rope leg drop from Matt. A cool looking twist of Fate by Rey . All in all a fun match I forgot there was his great promo between Eddie and Rey with Eddie motivating Rey before the match. Telling him to win it for his people, which drew a big pop from me and the rest of the "Raza" in the crowd.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 4, 2003 I actually look at it like WWE fans are so deprived of anything good that when that an anomoly shows up they act like it's the greatest thing ever.
Guest JDMattitudeV1 Report post Posted June 4, 2003 On the Team Angle subject, their not even on Velocity either, maybe they have the week off or something. I'm disappointed that they weren't involved in Kurt's return. They had 10 weeks to come up with a plan for their top guy's return and a verbal exchange with Big Sloth and Brock with no interaction with his team mates is the best they can come up with? Hopefully they will touch on this next week, but with the current crop of idiots writing the show who would know.

Your exactly right but it ain't the greatest thing ever as yes Undertaker once again looks stronger than anyone Smackdown and Benoit jobs again...but at least I can look forward to the main event. Maybe I'm just in a glass half full mood for whatever reason but will probably bitch come Thursday.

Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Why no Team Angle? Thought for sure they'd be there considering Kurt's back. I'm kinda thinking they might do something where they were too ashamed to show up because they didn't win the tag belts and therefore let Angle down. BTW, what's gonna happen with Team Angle now? Are they gonna stay heel even though Angle's a face? And if so, are they going to keep the name or become Team Cena or something?

Guest Mole Report post Posted June 4, 2003 I'm not going through the whole thread, but the cruiserweight match for the main event is sweet. Angle/Lesnar is sweet. Who did Benoit piss off? Bored 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2003 So what are the odds Anglesault bitches about Angle's return?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 4, 2003 A plausible reason why there was no Team Angle is because they couldn't bare to show their face around Anaheim in shame of not being able to win the Tag Belts back for their Captain like they said they would 2 straight weeks... Plus, I would almost bet that they add a taped later segment dealing with Team Angle. You can't just leave Team Angle off of the Kurt Angle returns show without reason. Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Does anyone else realize that sable has been back for like 2 months and has already taken torries place as the diva on smackdown. She gets moved into the story with steph which will be a lead story while torrie is off to feuding with nidia, which is destined for smackdown. Proving even with women Vince always goes back to his old creations. Torrie was in WCW.

Guest Heavy As Hell Report post Posted June 4, 2003 The CW title match(and probably the change to) was the ME because they were in Rey's hometown, or close to it(he is from San Diego i think?). Just a big favour to Rey either way. I don't expect it to last.
Guest Memphis Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Did we have a betting pool to see how long it would take the WWE to use the line "one legged man in an ass kicking contest" in regards to TZ? I remember I mentioned it as a JRism that he would use if he was a whiteboy challenge challenger vs Rodney Mack. speaking of JRisms, monday night was the first time I heard "like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs"..probbably need to add that to the unofficial JRism dictionary. Want me to prove I am a geek? In the first episode of the X-Men cartoon series entitled 'Night of the Sentinels', Rogue says that exact line. JR was being HIP~!. Amen. Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Angle's video to Coldplay's "Clocks" is the best thing to come out of wrestling in a pretty good time. I don't know, I just don't look at Angle the same way anymore after seeing that video. He can pretty much do anything and be gold in my eyes. Wins/Losses don't really matter to me...so I don't care if he has to job. I also don't care if he has to attempt to make new stars every month. I know that he'll entertain me. Ted DiBiase said it best and since someone has it quoted in their sig on these forums, I won't repeat it.
Guest croweater Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Once again I'm hitting myself in the head because I can't get SMACKDOWN! This one would be well worth watching, just for mark out value alone. Matt vs Rey and Angle's return....... I'm screaming for it like a bitch on heat.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Better detailed spoilers from the Observer... Dark Matches: Ultimo Dragon Vs. Shannon Moore Shannon's entrance video now has the computer start up like Matt's. Dragon's video is similar to Rey's. As Dragon comes to ring flames shoot out of the side of the entrance. Dragon got a nice pop as most people seemed to know him. Match was on the ground. Only move off the ropes was Dragon giving Shannon a jawbreaker off the top rope. Dragon won via submission. Billy Gunn Vs. Solo Solo looked like a member of the Samoan Swat team. Gunn came out to assman, dancing around & threatening to show his BUTT. Gunn won with a fameasser. Velocity Spanky vs Sean O'Haire Match started with O'Haire throwing Spanky around. Spanky began his comeback, getting near falls with a version of the Shinning Wizard only he kicked O'haire in the head, & a tornado DDT. Spanky went for sliced bread #2 but O'haire caught him, & gave him his reverse DVD for the pin. Crash vs. Orlando Jordan Crash's video also has the computer start up, but when it gets to connecting 30% it says systems failure. Don't know if there will be any Crash facts. Jordan had a good look but the crowd gave him no respect. Crash won with the reverse rolling cradle with shannon holding his hands for leverage. A-Train vs. Funaki A-Train defeated Funaki quickly with what i believe was a sidewalk slam, i looked down, looked back up & had missed it. A-Train said that wasn't enough & wanted more competition. Bill Demott came out & told a knock knock joke. Knock Knock....Who's There?......Uneeda........Uneeda who.........Uneeda shave your back A-Train vs Bill Demott Demott was in the corner, A-train charged in, Demott sidestepped him, & rolled him up for the pin. Smackdown Show began with an awesome Kurt Angle video. After the open we go straight to Piper's Pit. Piper's guest is Zack Gowen. Piper introduces Zack & Vince comes out. Vince says he's changed his mind about Zack, says he is an american success story, & if any one knows about american success stories it's him. Gowen & Mr.. American come out. My favorite sign of the night....Mr.. America makes me proud to be a Canadian. Vince says he's going to give Zack a chance to earn a wwe contract next week. There will be an arm wrestling contest. Representing the wwe will be Vince Mcmahon & he will be arm wrestling Zack Gowen. Vince says "what's the matter Zack, you appear to have 2 arms" O'haire distracts Hogan, while Piper crawls behind Gowen & Vince pushes him over him. Heels leave the ring. Vince says that next week Zack has as much chance as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Not sure if this will air because they seemed to go to commercial, Hogan grabbed the mic & said that with him & all those Hulkamaniacs, shouldn't they be americanmaniacs, behind Zack next week that he'd have no problem beating Vince. Mr.. America & Zack then posed in the ring for a long time. Undertaker vs. Chuck Palumbo Taker is really feeling good as he did a leap frog in the match. He's also going gray in the temples. Taker wins with the chokeslam. FBI come in and begins delivering a beatdown, but Taker makes his own save. They air a Kurt Angle classic video, which showed Milkamania. Rey Mysterio's wife & kids were in the front row. Matt Hardy does a backstage interview. He says no one thought he could make it on his own but he did. No thought he could make Mattitude work but he did. No one thought he could beat Rey at Wrestlemania but he did. Tonight with the help of his 2 M'Fers this would be the greatest night of his career. They aired a nice tribute video for Freddie Blassie Non Title Match Eddy Guerrero & Tajiri vs. The Basham Brothers Eddy & Tajiri came to the ring driving a low rider. Tajiri had Doug in the Tarantula, while Eddy frogsplashed Danny. Tajiri kicked Danny in the head & then pinned him. John Cena vs Chris Benoit Cena comes out doing a rap making fun of the cruiserweights, then making fun of Benoit. Benoit hits the diving headbutt. Cena kicks out at 2. Benoit goes for the germans. He hits one. Cena tries to fight Benoit off, as they struggle they ram the ref into the turnbuckles. With the ref down Cena grabs his chain & lock. Rhyno runs down & takes it from him. Rhyno goes to hit Cena with the chain, Cena ducks & he hits Benoit. Cena pins Benoit. After the match Rhyno helps Benoit to the back. Torrie Wilson & Rikishi vs. Jamie Noble & Nidia Funny moment: Torrie teased giving Nidia a stinkface but tagged Rikishi, Nidia screamed & crawled very quickly to Jamie Noble for the tag. Finish came when Rikishi did give Nidia the stinkface, then Torrie hit her with a neckbreaker for the pin. Josh interview Rey. He said he was ready & all Matt had done wouldn't stop him. Eddy Guerro, wearing a Rey tanktop, came into the interview. After hyping Rey up he told him not to think about coming back to locker room with out cruiserweight gold. Cruiserweight Title Match Rey Mysterio vs. Matt Hardy this was the main event. They did the deal where the ref brought them into the middle of the ring to do the rules of the match. Matt worked Rey's leg. The M'Fers jumped Rey after he had been thrown outside, the ref sent them to the back. Rey hit a 619, he went for the west coast pop, but Matt caught him & they both went over the top rope. Rey got back in the ring at the 9 count. Matt was going to bring the title belt into the ring. The ref went out to stop him. The MFers ran out & gave Rey a double front suplex. Matt hit a top rope legdrop. Rey kicked out at 2. Mat went for the twist of fate but Rey scooped his legs & rolled over him for the win. Rey's son came into the ring to celebrate with him & his wife was actually crying

Guest Raven_Effect01 Report post Posted June 4, 2003 The Cruiserweight title match sounds good, but it's stupid how a year later, WWE is using yet another Chris to be jobbed out/look weak during the summer on Smackdown like they did with Jericho last year. Next year, Chris Kanyon might get pushed to upper mid-card on Smackdown(not too likely, but hopefully you'll be able to see the pattern) and then he would be jobbed out in the summer too. It's bullshit how WWE seems to have something against every Chris that came from WCW, ECW, Japan, etc.
Guest JDMattitudeV1 Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Holy shit they actually made a big deal out of a cruiserweight match! Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Knoble jobs to Orlando Jordan, but Crash picks up a win? O...K... Mixed-tags are such a waste of Knoble, especially when Rikishi is on the other team. Palumbo jobs to Taker? Then single-handedly overcomes the triple-team? Way to put over the new heel stable, Marky-Mark. I'm looking forward to the Rey/Mattitude match, as well as the Bashams vs. Eddy/Tajiri match. Hopefully the Bashams get more offense than last week. Guest Vyce Report post Posted June 4, 2003 What was the point of jobbing Benoit out to Ohaire last week, anyways? In my opinion, they're building toward a "Benoit's frustrated" heel turn, where Rhyno reluctantly joins him (because Rhyno as a face? Plain goofy.) If Angle and Lesnar are going to be mutual friends, they're going to need competitors (Lesnar/TBS match for the title next week is probably the blow-off to send TBS back into the mid-card with 'Taker.) I'm with you. I think that's where they're going with Benoit. Angle & Lesnar will be into this whole mutual admiration society thing, and meanwhile Benoit will be racking up loss after loss - not because his opponent is the better of him, but because of some fluke or interference (O'Haire using Piper as a distraction last week and holding the tights, Rhyno accidentally hitting Chris with the chain). He'll get frustrated, cop a "I'm better then everyone here, and I deserve better than this, goddamnit!" attitude, and go into "I'm pissed off and I'm gonna fuck up everyone here to compensate for my anger issues" mode. Leading him to feud with Angle & Lesnar, with or without Rhyno. As for Hardy & Rey.....I'm really itching to see the match. I'm intrigued that Rey's family was there. If Hardy wanted to play the heel, he should play towards them for the cheap heat.
