Guest Trivia247

Thanks to Steve Grimmett for the following report:

Good old JR was on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket last night here in Dallas, TX. The show he was on is called the "P1 Wildass Circus". The host is named Richard Hunter, and fortunately he's very knowledgeable about the REAL wrestling business. No kayfabe here.

Anyway, they first put over the new cookbook. JR mentions how much fun they had on the last book and how they wanted to use this new one to show the difference between grilling and barbequing.

Real questions start up. Richard first asks JR about some of his classic "lines" and "reactions". They bring up the Undertaker/Mick Foley HIAC match and how insane JR reacted there. He stated that he knew a spot like that was coming but it still could not prepare him for actually seeing it. He also talked about Stone Cold having his neck broken by Owen Hart....and then Owen Hart's own death, and how difficult those incidents were to call.

They talked about the high spots and how WWE has requested that workers tone it down a notch. JR talked about how some of the younger guys only know the newer fast paced action, but are slowly grasping how to work smarter and safer, yet still put on a show.

Richard then puts over the production team and the slick job that they've done with the Nathan Jones/Sean O'Haire vignettes. JR shares the opinion but states that sometimes those promos are better than the workers' actual in-ring ability. I think that was a silent shot at Jones.

The last topic was probably the most interesting. Richard asked about the old-timers that they've recently brought back...piper, Hogan, etc. He asks JR what's left, and the first name that JR says comes to his mind is Sting. JR states that he has not spoken to Sting in over a year, and that no contract negotiations are currently underway. He talks about how Sting is happy and with family and into Church, etc...and also mentions that he is 40+ in age. He certainly doesn't make it sound like Sting is coming to the WWE.

Last but not least, JR reminds us about the cookbook, the Badd Blood PPV, and the June 16th Raw in Dallas. I'm sure there are a couple of points that I missed, but I was sitting around a barbeque with about 10 friends who were talking over the radio...so if anyone has anything to add, please do.

# Rock ‘just wanted to be part of the show’

SAN DIEGO – June 2, 2003 – The Rock has already proven that if he and WWE are in the same town, and he doesn’t have an unbreakable, all-day commitment, he will drop by the WWE arena to greet his Superstar peers and entertain the fans.

# Stone Cold pursuing his medical options

Stone Cold Steve Austin says he isn’t really trying to come back to the ring, but he’d like to improve his long-term health prospects, if possible. Austin says he’s not really in pain, but he’s experiencing nerve problems that are “too extensive to talk about.”

# Rikishi on crowd participation, career longevity

It’s absolutely no exaggeration to say that Rikishi gets one of the loudest crowd reactions every night at arenas around the country. And he’s arguably the star of the show at WWE’s SmackDown!-brand non-televised events, when he’s given time to really entertain. On those nights, he brings the house down.

# WWE will present their first Smackdown exclusive Pay-Per-View on July 27th in Denver, Colorado and the word going around is that a Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle rematch will headline the event.

# Many of the road agents for the Smackdown brand have been praising the Team Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero & Tajiri tag team matches that have been taking place at recent house shows. Some even go as far as saying that they are among the best matches since the rosters were split.

# It's rumored that Mick Foley will be making a surprise appearance on Monday's RAW in order to hype the Hell In A Cell Match between Kevin Nash and Triple H. WWE officials feel that if the fans know Foley will be appearing at the PPV, it will result in a better butrate for the show.

No way. Foley's main gripe was the use of the wrong guys and the shity politicking going on around the WWE when he left, IIRC. Why would he come back to hype Triple H vs Kevin Nash?

I'd laugh if they tried so desperately hard to get Mick and he just told them flat out "No" and stick to the principal of why he left for the last (I hope) time. I mean, having Foley coming back is just like bringing back old legends from the past for a cheap run (or in Mick's case, it would be pop). I mean, it really serves no true purpose than to sell off Mick's book.

And the laughter is the laughter I've been having of late of the WWE giving the ball to the Generation that has passed and not letting the new breed of superstars run with it. And I'm talking the Benoits, Angles, Tajiris, Eddies, etc.

I was under the impression that Mick was doing fine, and I thought he might actually stand up for the bad booking. Of course, him staying home gets him no where and will have no effect on what is happening, but I thought his abrupt exit was a true testament to the guy, and I hope he doesn't shill for this horrible decision of a match.

Who cares Foley is a generation too late to make an extended impact. They should completely rebuild, end the roster split, release the old dead weight and build up the roster again. Hall and Nash leaving and Bret going on vacation opened up spots for Austin and Foley in the summer of 1996.

It's true. I think it is common kowledge that this return will change nothing. I was only questioning his character in this situation. The buyrate will not change enough.

would be best if he came on Raw and started to hype up HIAC, and then just started shooting on Vince. Ok, but it will never happen. :(

Foley will gladly take the opportunity to shill anything he writes, so don't be surprised if he's got the new book in hand as he referees the Hell in a Cell match. Don't try to make Mick out to be the paragon of all that is good and proper in the business either, because he's just as flawed as anyone else in any company.

What's really funny is that JR was the guy that brought Jones into the company to begin with as the head of talent relations. A little late on the 'man this guy sucks' call there Ross. Of course, it's not like O'Haire is good or even fair either.

Not saying he is a God. Just wish he would actually mean it.

He probably IS talking about O'Haire, Ross worships the ground Nathan Jones walks on
