DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Now, I figured they cut America the Beautiful from WM14 because it was an absolutely terrible rendition, but why from the WM XIX release? Royalty issues with Ashanti or the song itself? Not that I really care (considering I'm Canadian), just something I wondered while watching Mania today. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Well they've included just about everyone else's renditions over the years. The only times I recall them not featuring it was when CHV would edit Mania for running time. 2 and 7 come to mind.
Guest OnlyMe Report post Posted June 5, 2003 [hijack] On a not-very related note, what's the DVD quality like? I picked up the Rumble and No Way Out on DVD, and the picture quality was awful - comparable to not very good downloaded video. Is the the PAL conversion, or was Mania as bad? DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Depending on how much extra stuff WWE crams on a DVD to make it extend past the 3 hours the disc was intended for, the picture gets noticably "downloaded and watched on a computer type blurry square pixel look" (which I believe the kids call artifacting but I could be wrong). I'm not a big videophile so I can't say I notice a picture problem but I'm sure someone will. It's looks bright and crisp to me, better than any VHS tapes I have. The main problems are where there are huge blocks of colour (say Bischoff's black martial arts suit.)
Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 5, 2003 The discs to me are pretty solid as far as the picture goes. They are a lil under 3 hours per disc (number two may be 3 hours total) so its nothing too bad as far as compressing goes or whatever the deal is there. The only things they have chopped from the ppv is the Ashanti performance (she probably signed for herself to appear and work only for the ppv broadcast), the Mania XX promo, and Stacy's music. The extras are mostly the Confidential stuff pre-Mania, with the 3rd degree show and other lil things put in there (SNH stuff, post match interviews, etc). I dont get many WWE DVDs so I was pretty impressed with this one.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted June 5, 2003 In other words, the Mania XIX extras are useless filler and NO bonus matches? Not even the Heat match? (Which was the Raw tag title match I think).
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 No John Cena? I downloaded his rap since I missed it on Heat ... pure gold!
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 5, 2003 I'm pretty sure the Raw Tag Title match is included.
Guest mach7 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 There was probably an issue with Ashante. I don't think that America the Beautiful falls under a song that you'd have to pay royalties for.. isn't it technically "public domain?"
Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 5, 2003 In other words, the Mania XIX extras are useless filler and NO bonus matches? Not even the Heat match? (Which was the Raw tag title match I think). Naw like I said there is all the SNH stuff included, matches and promos. The extras are actually pretty plentiful for a WWE DVD. They put in the Mania commercials and vigenttes, all of the press conferences, a lot of stuff relating to Hogan-McMahon, the entire 3rd degree show, and they added the Goldberg debut from Raw at the end too. Only real negative is the DVD cover. I wish they would have went with the same cover that most of the Mania posters had, with the space needle in the middle with all of the main guys surrounding it. They probably would have had to pay extra to show her appearance or something gay like that.
Guest Si82 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 So wait a minute. Are Limp Bizkit still on there, or have they been chopped?
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 LB is still on the DVD.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 6, 2003 So wait a minute. Are Limp Bizkit still on there, or have they been chopped? We aren't lucky enough. I kind of wanted to forget I'd ever been to a glorified Limp Bizkit contest.

Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 6, 2003 Ummm what else could you even put on the disc, especially in terms of matches???
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted June 6, 2003 it's the WM DVD, there should be no extra matches that don't go with it. If it was a Superstar DVD or something like Confidential thats one thing, but not a PPV (except for the heat match, thats always on there no matter what)
