Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted June 5, 2003 I ask because mine has recently started it, playing the full CD albeit it usually out of order for some reason. They tend to start it at 2 a.m. when Loveline ends but tonight they're starting in about 2 minutes. Probably because they're playing the full new Metallica album and thats guaranteed to pull in listeners. Anyways, I found this a bit odd and was wondering if anyone elses station had started doing this or already been doing it for some time? Well? Anyone? Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted June 5, 2003 I know the local station used to play a lot of new releases in full. I haven't listened to the radio in maybe 5 years, so I don't know if it's still done. My dad told me once they used to do it in the 70s too.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Hm, unusual, I'd think it'd be illegal, in the same sense, I guess they can't really monitor every station nation wide or whatever.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 5, 2003 I don't know why it would be illegal unless the band's contract said something concerning that or they only sent singles and the DJ is playing a personal copy. My local stations have never done that. Hell I'd settle for them playing a song off the album that isn't a hit single. Well the classic rock station takes requests at noon, but that and early sundays are the only time major stations play non hit singles.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted June 5, 2003 One of our stations used to play 3 full albums back to back to back every Sunday at midnight. It was usually one new one and then just two random classic albums. I got a LOT of free albums that way. They became a country station later on and quit doing it. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 yep. when Audioslave released their first album, they played the full album. Around 10:00 every friday usually they play a whole album as well (usually live, or signifigant albums) Sometimes they play half an album (last week was Black Sabbath's Paranoid and also Led Zeppelin III)
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted June 5, 2003 The local classic rock station plays classic album sides once or twice a week which is frikking awesome . I've only heard them play entire albums a few times, they always play Alice's Restaraunt by Arlo Guthrie every Thanksgiving and they played Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon a month or two ago on the 30th anniversary of the album's release.
