What DVDs do you think will become OOP...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

Recently I went out and bought the damn Fight Club 2-Disc OOP set, and it got me to thinking about other DVDs that might go OOP pretty soon. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Memento SE do this seeing how it has a single disc version out, and it would be something like what they did with Fight Club, seeing how they still have that single disc version out. I wouldn't be suprised to see the 4-Disc version of Fellowship of The Ring go OOP also.

Are there anymore that you can think of?

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

They just pulled the Toy Story line, just when I was eager to purchase the set.

Holy crap, I've been wanting to buy that also!

Do you mean the Toy Box set?

As of someday last month I believe, they were putting all the Toy Story discs into the vault, much like they do with other titles. They "lock them in the Disney Vaults" for a few years and later re-release with new covers a few years down the road. They did it in the fall with I believe The Little Mermaid and a few others.

Dreamworks is going to release Gladiator in a single disc version and the 2 disc special edition will be going OOP.

What is OOP?

Yeah, I was wondering that too.

I've seen it on e-bay before, but never knew what it meant.

The Toy Story ones should be fairly easy to get still because it just mean Disney is not making them anymore. They don't have to be pulled from the shelves. It just means Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc, won't be getting any more of them.

Disney also is planning to dump its whole catalog onto DVD by 2007 because they want to start putting out HD-DVD versions after that.

To be honest though, I don't think any of their pre-digital animated movies (Little Mermaid and earlier) will look much better on HD DVD then they did on regular DVD. Same with a lot of other older movies, IMHO.

The Memento SE came out after the Single disc version, so unless the single discer is still being produced I doubt the SE will go OOP.

Army of Darkness: The Boomstick Edition will be OOP before long seeing how they release a new edition every few years.

Most of the FOX 2-disc sets will eventually be replaced by single disc versions; most of them have already gone through the change.

Yup, Moulin Rouge, Cast Away and The Abyss are some of the titles that were originally 2 disc and then became 1 disc only.

Well, since the DAD DVD doesn't match the set they have out now I can only conclude we'll get a new set of Bond movies soon.

What do you mean by "doesn't match the set they have out now"?

Although, the DAD DVD does have a trailer for the Bond Special Editions on it, at least the Region 2 version does anyway.
