Guest Ray Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 (edited) Who is the better wrestler? Eddie Guerrero or Chris Benoit? I'll say Benoit. Edited June 6, 2003 by Ray
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Overall it would be Benoit, but right now it's Eddie. Hmm...who should I choose...I'll vote for Eddie, since Benoit will probably win anyway.
Guest Black Tiger Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I'll vote for Eddy, because even though both of them can rule the world as it pertains to ring work. Eddy is a lot better on the mic.
Guest Goodear Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Right this second, Eddie is having better matches than Benoit. Chris has been operating on cruise control and working a mindless WWE style of spots for quite a while now. Disregarding psychology a few times and tossing away transitions aren't exactly helping his case. Eddie on the other hand is firing on cylanders now and is bringing the love each and every time he gets near a ring.
Guest BAR Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I enjoy watching Eddie more, whether it's Japan, Mexico or the U.S. Maybe Benoit's better, looking at his acheivements in Japan, but I'll go with Guerrero.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I absolutely love watching both. Neither one is any worse than the other so I went with my favorite.......Benoit
Guest Steviekick Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Both are amazing, but I like Guerrero's matches much more than Benoit's
Guest wildpegasus Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 (edited) Benoit's better overall than Guerrero. Guerrero's awesome and one of my favourites but throughout his career Benoit's matches against the same opponents are usually better. As of right now Benoit's still better even despite their being more limitations on his moveset by the WWE than Eddy has. Benoit's moves are executed more feriousily which puts him ahead in my book. He's also considerably ahead when he wrestles heavyweights as Eddy has a harder time here than Benoit. I also like his selling more. Eddy though is a great high flyer. Rescently he has had more ideal situations to display his stuff in and to his credit he has been doing great while Benoit has been given short match times and not as much to work with. If the situations were reversed people would be saying Benoit's better right now even though in essence Eddy would still be the same wrestler. Edited June 6, 2003 by wildpegasus
Guest Steviekick Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Both are equally good...it's the same debate between whether you like regular pretzels or pretzel rods....they're just presented differently but do the job just as well.
Guest Kid Kablam Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Something has been missing from Benoit's stuff. I'll still tune in to watch him, but he feels like he's mailing it in sometimes, especially when he gets chop happy. Eddie is going strong now and just seems to have.... it

Guest wildpegasus Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Hope you don't mind if I jump in and answer that question. It depends on what you mean by great. Great matches IMO have to go a certain distance of time and a lot of matches don't get that. Off the top of my head I thought Benoit's preformances in both Angle matches this year, Haas, Benjamin, A-Train, his first match against Cena, the Benoit/Rhyno tag against the Guerreros and Show were all great. One of the problems is that Benoit's a better heel in the ring than a face overall as he can dictate more of the match that way.
Guest Kid Kablam Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 My jury is still out on the Benoit vs Angle matchups. I want to like the matches, I really do, and some of them get me going, but then again, there seem to be things that aren't right. I sometimes feel that the selling is fishy, and the germans bore me, and they seem a bit repetatitve. I dunno, I want to hail them as classics, but they don't fit the bill.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 I went with Eddy (the correct spelling - sorry, pet peeve) simply because he's made the most out of being in a tag team and is still putting on great matches.

Guest two_tuff_toddy Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Watch Eddie vs Sasuke from 1996 Skydiving J and then watch Benoit vs Sasuke from 1994 J-Cup and tell me who is better. It's obviously Benoit even though Eddie is still really good. A question. Could you see Benoit on a list of the five best wrestlers ever? I could. I have him 4th as a matter of fact. Now, could you see that with Eddie? I would have to say no. Maybe he would squeak in the top 10, definitely top 15, but absolutely not the top 5. This is just my opinion though. Take it for what you want.
Guest Monday Night Jericho Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 This is a very close one. Both are extremely talented but I think that Eddie may have a little more, although Benoit applies it better. Both are two of the best juniors ever, but I'll go with Benoit because I believe him to be the better carrier.
