Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted June 6, 2003 No. I'm not going to "wait till next week." All through out that Brock feud, all you people did was tell me to "wait till next week." Well guess what? IT NEVER FUCKING GOT BETTER! 'Sault, have you ever considered that, according to all internet reports, Angle's return is going as he was pushing for it? As in, he's a face? The wheels seem set in motion for the proposed Benoit/Rhyno heel turn, and all we really need to see is Heyman come back to fulfill the, ahem, prophecy predicted online. So shouldn't you at least sit tight a little bit? It seems Angle himself is directing his own character, and you don't think he's going to book himself into the ground? Guest Redhawk Report post Posted June 6, 2003 I had two major gripes with Kurt Angle's return: 1) His "classic" moments were all moments that made him look like a dork. Spraying milk on Austin and singing corny folk songs? Wow, what a badass. As someone said earlier, where was the WM win over Benoit? Where was the title win over The Rock? Where was the montage of vicious Ankle Locks? 2) The announcers were all like, "The return on the one and only Kurt Angle! What a guy!" When Kurt left he was a heel; the biggest heel on the show. When he'd show up then, the tone from the announcers was, "What the heck does this guy want?" Now he's all great just because he hurt his neck? But WWE does this all the time with returning guys. When HHH came back in 2002 it was, "YES YES YES THE GAAAAAAME! Aw crap, what does Kurt Angle want? What a jerk!" Never mind that the last time we saw HHH, Jim Ross was damning his soul to Hell every week. When Angle comes back it's all "WHOOOOO KURT! Aw, what does Big Show want?" I hate face turns that don't actually happen, rather WWE makes them happen during injury time.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 6, 2003 I said wait until the 4th week before WM, and Angle got injured on that week.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted June 6, 2003 *buys the entire thread a box of tampons* Thanks, but make sure it's Tampax. I don't really like the other brands too much.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 6, 2003 And for the first time in a long time, when Angle does tag into the ring, the fans will actually be cheering. “Am I The Rock? No,” Angle said. “But I’m Kurt Angle. I’m a different kind of babyface, which is cool. I’m still going to be the same Kurt Angle as a babyface that I was as a heel. There’s no reason to change it. You don’t want to take my character and say, ‘OK, we’re going to make this guy into a traditional babyface.’ Keep the edge that Kurt Angle has, even if it is a little nerdy.” -WWE.com IT'S ALL OVER PEOPLE! WE DON'T HAVE A PRAYER! Kurt, you stupid SOB...

Bored 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2003 *buys the entire thread a box of tampons* I guess you think that was the perfect way to big him back. Please tell me why. Nope and I find it funny just because I think there is too much bitching going on about his return automatically means I think it was handled perfectly. One could argue that Angle turned face by shaking hands and hugging Brock Lesnar after the Wrestlemania match. But if that's a face turn then that's a pretty shitty face turn. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I think that was a passable face turn, to tell you the truth. I think what would've been a better return was to wait until this Thursday. Brock beats the Big Show but then gets beatdown by the FBI and Big Show. (Taker isn't here for whatever reason) Who makes the save but Kurt Angle? Have him beat the hell out of the FBI and then Olympic Slam the Big Show (make sure Cole and Tazz play this up as a big deal) and then Angle turns around and bumps into Brock. They stare each other down and then Brock sticks out his hand and Kurt takes it. Would you have preferred that AS?

Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 7, 2003 It's sad to see that they can botch the return of -potentially- their greatest WWE Champion of all time. They had momentum going with the video packages and the high mentions from Cole/Tazz, but I must agree with Anglesault. The whole thing with Big Show had no point other than to serve up another Brock/Show match. The WWE Creative Team must really hate Kurt Angle, or Vince McMahon must really hate the "smarks". Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted June 7, 2003 or Vince McMahon must really hate the "smarks". You have to question his hatred? Seriously, he's trying to go back to the 80s when no one knew anything and thusly he hates us because we won't let him.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I think it might just be incompetance on the writers part.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I think it might just be incompetance on the writers part. *laughs* In the end Vince is the guy they have to get a final "yes-no". So in reality, it's STILL the problem of Vince. As it has always been.
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I think it might just be incompetance on the writers part. Even if Vince's writers/bookers had their ideas, they are basically "yes" men to the McMahon dynasty anyway, so Vince is ultimately the main problem in how angles go down. Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted June 7, 2003 Am I the only person alive who remembers how godawful Angle's character was when he was booked as a bad-ass face back during the invasion? Or how at that time, his pops were far bigger before Summerslam, when he was still recognisably the funny Kurt Angle, but a face, then after Summerslam when they turned him into Austin redux? Or when week in week out Angle would destroy five alliance wrestlers at a time and there was this backlash against him because he became boring? How RVD, a character with precisely 0.17 of a dimension was outpopping the bad-ass face Angle? And now everyone wants that Angle, yes? Much confusion there is. I do remember that... buuuut, on the other hand, I think fans have more respect for Angle now than they did back then. The fans were BEGGING for Angle to be a face during the Angle/Benoit tag angle when they would constantly chant "we want Angle" while Benoit would be wrestling. I think the badass babyface character would work better now considering A) the injury B) the clocks video and C) the amazing matches he's been involved in the past several months. It seems as if the announcers have been touting him as one of the greatest of all time now, and I don't remember him being praised that much before or even during the Invasion. EDIT: Changed after surgery to past several months Edited June 7, 2003 by EternallyLazy

Milk-a-Mania really did that. I think some of you give the casual fan too much credit for CARING about certain things. Milk-a-mania, if you would pay attention to the clips, caused quite the reaction live. The fans ate it up, and while YOU may not have liked it, the fans loved it. It was fun to watch. Milk-a-mania did not ruin the Kurt Angle babyface run. Infact, as I remember, it was going quite well until Vince and his impatientness (and the fact that he obviously wasn't intending Angle to be a longterm mega-face to begin with) killed it
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted June 7, 2003 The only reason I didn't really like Kurt's super-face run was that it was kinda corny. I remember this one time when he was talking to RVD and said "the fans out there won't be chanting RVD, but they'll be chanting USA". Uh, okay there, because RVD's not American or anything. The whole run was just plain corny.

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted June 7, 2003 I'd like to see how Face Angle works out without the flag-waving shit. Of course, that will never happen, whenever Angle is a face he will be "Olympic Dork".
