Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted June 6, 2003 Ok, here's the official thoughts and predictions thread. Who do you think is going to get to do the COD V match this year? I'm betting on Hatred & Gage finally blowing off their feud with some huge bumps, unless Zandig decides to blow it off during the Deathmatch Tournament. As for the World Title, I'm thinking they're building up a Mondo/Messiah match for the event due to the whole Iron Man Title ordeal earlier on this year. Perhaps if Gage/Hatred isn't in the COD, they'll put Mondo & Messiah in it. Well, those are my opinions. Jay, Sandman, anyone else want to chime in?
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2003 It's hard to tell with CZW.. things seem to change in an instant and you never know what's coming next. But If I had to say.. I'd go with a Gage-Hatred COD V, As they really don't have any other matches building that would be COD level... Course there's always a chance of Lobo or Wifebeater returning. As for the World Title, I see a Messiah-Trent Acid World Title Feud (assuming one of them turns, I'm guessing Acid will) Just because I think Trent's ready for the main event. Iron Man Title: I'd like to see Mondo-Homcide have a go. Juniorheavy weight: Ruckus-B-Boy seems to be the next big JHW feud.. but you never know with all the influx of junior's CZW is having. Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted June 6, 2003 IMO, Messiah vs. Mondo is a lock for the COD 5 CZW Title match. It might even be in the Cage of Death itself. I don't think they can stretch Gage vs. Hatred until then, nor Homicide vs. Acid. Gage/Hatred is likely to blow off at the final Delaware show ths summer, in order to give people a reason to go to it post-TOD. I think we will see a new Ironman champ before we hit COD 5. Not sure who though. Matches I'm reasonably sure will be for COD5. Mondo vs. Messiah-CZW Title Sonjay vs. B-Boy- CZW Jr. Title I'm hoping these matches occur at least, BECAUSE I'M GOING, WOOHOO~! It isn't that long, Isn't COD V supposed to be in like October or November this year? If not They can always work an injury angle, where Gage takes out Nate and Nate returns at COD V for the blowoff...
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted June 6, 2003 Like what Jay said, Gage/Hatred looks like it'll be blown off with some kind of a deathmatch at the August Delaware show. Neither man is strong enough of a wrestler or promo cutter (though Hatred can be unintentionally funny at times) to make the match work in Philly, and because of the DM ban, it looks like the promise of a deathmatch between the two will be the strong selling point. It could be the TOD2 finals (which I"M going to, whoo-hoo!), but I doubt it would be blown off that early, and they still need a draw for the August Delaware show. As for the possibility of a Mondo/Messiah COD, it's too early to tell. Mondo finally getting the world title would be a massive draw for the company, however, and I think that if they are going to run with that idea, the angle will probably start happening soon. Most likely it'll involve an HIV member (probably one of the Backseats, unless someone else joins) getting the Iron Man strap, or HIV costing Mondo the belt, which would set off Mondo/Messiah. There really is no big angle, like Lobo/Zandig last year, which you know will end with a COD match. Tag straps wise, it's basically the Backseats and the Briscoes at the top right now. Rachies might be up there once Rose is healthy enough to wrestle. Some combo of Rebel's Army might be able to contend, probably Rebel and Matthews then Z-Barr and Frazier. Light heavyweight belt, as long as Blade doesn't get it, it shouldn't be too bad. B-Boy seems like he's being groomed to get the belt right now, with his BOTB3 win. He'll take the strap off of Ruckus soon, and Sonjay/B-Boy rematch at COD seems like a good belt. BJW Deathmatch belt, who cares. Hatred hasn't defended it since winning the belt at Live Again in January. It's also a matter of who comes into the company as well. The way independent wrestling is, things that you never would have predicted happening six months ago could be coming true.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 6, 2003 I'm fairly new to the CZW scene, though thanks to Jay, Sandman, and an influx of CZW videos at work, I've been taking tape after tape home. I'm familiar with the majority of the roster, save for some of the undercard guys (Frazier, Cash, etc.). Nick Mondo and HIV are two of my main interests in the company, so if they're starting a push for Mondo to get the title from Messiah, it looks like I'm getting involved with CZW at just the right time. I don't know if an Acid and/or Backseats face turn would work, because the guy just seems like a natural heel with that shit-eating grin of his. I understand he works as a face in Corino's PWF, but I haven't watched any of his stuff from there yet. Plus, the HIV stable just comes off as a great idea (talented workers, cutting edge name) that I'd hate to see it broken up. I have to agree with the statement that in indy wrestling, you really can't predict what's going to happen in the long term. Didn't ROH and CZW refuse to work with each other about a year ago, and now we've got the Briscoes back, as well as Homicide in CZW? Anything can happen, which is one of the major draws to indy wrestling, at least to me. Hell, I've gotten so fed up with WWE that the other night, I watched some of BOTB 3 in place of RAW. Give me Sonjay, B-Boy and Trent Acid over Test, Steiner and Crips any day.
