Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 The 6/5 edition of Smackdown did a 3.1 broadcast rating, with a 5 share. That is down from last week's 3.4 but it should be noted that the program did not air in Philadelphia. 1wrestling.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Whoops, meant Smackdown rating. dumbass
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Raw ratings go up, Smackdown's go down. Vince will want to book more "sportz entertainment" now. But I'm hearing Raw has slowly been improving as of late.
Guest OnlyMe Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 That's what you get when McMahon / Hogan is only in the first half hour. McMahon = ratings. Or something.
Guest Redhawk Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Come on, y'all. You know good and Goddamn well they'll use this to say, "See, that's why cruiserweights shouldn't be in the main event."
Guest Ray Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Come on, y'all. You know good and Goddamn well they'll use this to say, "See, that's why cruiserweights shouldn't be in the main event." And to not push Angle....
NYU Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Well, there was this little thing on MTV called the MTV Movie Awards. I'm sure that took away a good part of the audience who would usually watch Smackdown. In fact, I'm surprised the rating is as high as it is. It's really no big deal.
Guest Downhome Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I've been thinking that RAW is improving, as Smackdown's quality IS going down. I love both shows, but it's just an observation. At least on RAW most guys who are on TV, have an actual program. Smackdown just seems a bit, iffy here lately. Of course, I'm sure that can be chalked up to RAW having a PPV in just a week or so while SD still has over a month to go, so it all makes sense. They need to learn that in order to do these PPV's like this they need to build strong from the begining, as they have quite a while to put stuff together now. You can't wait untill the week or two before the PPV, they need to start building up ASAP. I see it starting for SD, so maybe it'll all start coming together for them soon.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I agree. The quality of Raw seems to be improving while for the most part, Smackdown has been less than stellar.

I totally agree...it's pretty much the same demographic. I kept switching over to MTV to watch it.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Meltzer predicted this last week. I forget the reasons why he said it, but he said it would hurt the cruiserweights the most.

Not to bash the cruisers, as I love them like hell, but WWE shouldn't put them in the main event. Nope, not with their fan base right now.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 That's a shame. MTV is shit, and I'd still watch McMahon-Hogan over anything they produce these days.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I don't think cruisers in the main event has anything to do with it. They're just as underpromoted and vanilla as everyone else.
Guest Downhome Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I don't think cruisers in the main event has anything to do with it. They're just as underpromoted and vanilla as everyone else. Oh come on, you know just as good as I do that a main event of two cruisers will not get as big an audiance as something including Brock Lesnar or something would. The show as a whole wasn't that great, so I know that the main event isn't the only thing. Like I said though, I think they'll start pulling SD together next week and will really start pushing towards the PPV.

Oh come on, you know just as good as I do that a main event of two cruisers will not get as big an audiance as something including Brock Lesnar or something would. Brock basically always wins TV matches, especially against obvious jobbers. Often they are squashes. Where's the intrigue? Does anyone give a flying fuck about Big Show-Brock? Brock beat him about 3 times. Sure, Big Show beat him with Heyman's help and in a tag match. Whoopie-fuck. Anyone who watches WWE knows that wins in a tag match mean jack-shit anyway.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Well I don't think _anything_ will get a big audience in this day-and-age. So "it's not worth trying" is kinda irrelevant.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Well......first of all RAW is about the same to me as it has always been. But I agree that SD is going down the crapper. This McMahon/America/Gowan/Piper/O'Haire thing is annoying as fuck and takes up WAY to much time.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Raw's rating went up this week? Does this mean that less Goldberg = RATINGS?!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I fixed the thread title for you.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 The Raw rating was consistent (+/- .2) with what it has been avg over the past few months.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 ...or at least "month" (the may avg was a 3.8 or 3.9 - but May is generally a 'peak' sweeps month for the WWE... this years avg was it's lowest since it's boom)
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Where there any NBA Finals games or NHL Finals going on? (GO DEVILS....bye-bye Anaheim) Lately, SD has been boring me to death, especially with the Hogan/Vince crap. Come on, it is killing the show! Booking cruiserweights for main event was a bad idea. The good thing is......Rey won. Man, his son looks exactly like him! He is Rey Jr Jr!
Guest claydude14 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Hockey was on in addition to the movie awards.
