Questions About CZW's Past

Recommended Posts

Guest Nevermortal

Yeah, I know I've been putting up a lot of CZW shit, but they've slowly overtaken Ring of Honor as my favorite promotion. I'm getting more and more into Zandig's federation by the day.

Anyway, my questions...

1) Why does everyone hate Ric Blade? And why did he leave for 18 months?

2) What's the heat between BJPW & CZW?

Why everyone hates Blade can be explained in this article:

http://www.czwfans.com/editorials/jeff/jef...f20021129.shtml

Here's the explanation of the BJPW/CZW heat: Back in late 2000/Early 2001, CZW and BJPW agreed to a complete mutual working relationship. CZW workers would go to Japan, BJPW workers would go to CZW. Each promotion's respective titles were also in play. The BJPW honchos, who aren't exactly brain surgeons, gave Zandig complete and total control of the booking of this interpromotional angle. While this started out relatively even (example, we got CZW Jr. champ Jun Kasai, and CZW tag champs Kasai and Men's Teoh. The BOTB 1 trophy was also given to a seriously deteriorated Winger as a show of faith to BJPW.)

Eventually, though, Zandig's ego got in the way and he started booking all of the CZW guys to go over. Johnny Kashmere won the BJPW Junior title, and it never returned to Japan. Ruckus won it from Kashmere, and Acid won it from Ruckus. Acid continued to be recognized as BJPW Jr. champ until he was stripped of it for non-defense. Acid however, never gave the physical belt back and continued to promote himself as "Big Japan" Jr. Heavyweight champion until he lost the CZW Jr. title to Ruckus in January. For the record, Homicide is the real BJPW Jr. champ and has been for several months.

Zandig also won the BJPW Deathmatch title and after being stripped of it, never gave it back. The fake BJPW Deathmatch title was put on the line in Tournament of Death, and given to Wifebeater. It was presumed dead and gone following Wifebeater's retirement. But it was brought out of retirement to draw a crowd for Live Again following Justice Pain's defection to XPW. The fake BJPW Deathmatch title was put on Nate Hatred, who hasn't defended it since. The real Deathmatch title vacancy has been filled, I forget by who.

So, in short, BJPW was stupid enough to have the OPPOSING promoter book their interpromotional angle, and CZW buried BJPW talent and actually stole some of their belts.

I'm pretty sure Blade shattered his leg on a balcony swanton through a table while teaming with Mondo once, and that was part of it.

I like CZW, but I don't know how someone could dig it more than ROH. What makes it the better overall promotion to you?

I don't hate Ric Blade, I just think he needs to make stuff more realistic (he kicks like a pussy) and work some psychology into his matches. He's been pretty good at not blowing spots lately, so I can't blame him for that. He's entertaining, I just think people give him a lot of unwarranted shit.

I don't know, really. More variety, I guess. Not to say that RoH is terrible.

Thanks Jay. I'm starting to lose my reputation as the #1 CZW fanboy here.... (insert ghey emoticon)

Similar to what Jeff Strauch (probably THE #1 CZW fanboy) said, we felt betrayed by Ric Blade. It wasn't that he quit the company, it was how he blamed the fans and put over a rival company in doing so. It's similar to the ways in which M-Dogg, Josh Pro, and Justice left the company.

It is different from the ways in which the Briscoes left. The Briscoes left because of the fact that Mark Briscoe was 17 for about three years, and legally couldn't wrestle in Philly. Hence the Midnight Outlaws gimmick at COD3 and a little after, I believe. ROH was starting up around this time as well, and this was when RF and Zandig had heat going on between each other. Zandig gave an ultimatum to the Briscoes, him or them, and the Briscoes chose ROH. Little more then a year later, the bridge has been rebuilt.

It's ironic, we (ROH and CZW, as well as wrestling fans in general) need to THANK Rob Black for coming to Philly, for if it wasn't for him, ROH and CZW would never have buried the hatchet and let talent go between the two companies.

Actually, no, it was a lot different.

Blade didn't even go to a rival company, man. He wrestled for small indies during his abscence from CZW? Do you consider JAPW a direct rival for CZW? Get real. Blade didn't even work for a rival company, let alone put one over.

Why shouldn't Pain leave CZW? The locker room was constantly pissing on him. And why the hell shouldn't Rob Black take him, along with the other two guys? Try not being so blind when it comes to putting over CZW. Yeah, it's OK for Zandig to pay himself, his announcers, and The Messiah to verbally slander and threaten Rob Black, but it's not OK for Rob Black to retaliate by hiring three of their mid to upper midcard guys. Get real...

And why shouldn't Rob Black come to XPW? Yeah, it's fine for CZW to come to the ECW Arena and pay Z-Barr, Zandig, and other wrestlers of theirs to verbally piss all over the legacy of the ECW Arena, like they did so many times at COD3, among other shows, by bashing the former talent of the building and calling it the CZW Arena, but it's not OK for XPW to book a date in August that NO OTHER PROMOTION had booked.

A couple of factual errors in the first paragraph. First of all, at the time, JAPW WAS a direct rival to CZW, a very heated rival- CZW was in Jersey around the time. And Blade, in his quit post, certainly DID put JAPW over and bury CZW.

The locker room was pissing on Pain, because he was an asshole and was OPENLY looking for other work.

And I reiterate what Nevermortal said.

And BTW, COD3 was an ANGLE. It was the same night the ECW Tod Gordon crew came in to retaliate on those comments.

And Extreme Associates wanted to SHOOT AND STORE PORN IN VIKING HALL. That's defecating on the building, quite literally.

Give me some proof that Rob Black either Cut Messiah's Thumb off himself, or hired someone to do it. There is no concrete proof, or really, any proof, other than motive.

I haven't really been paying attention to what was going on in the last 2 months with Black/Messiah, so if some new proof, or anything came up, NeverMortal, I apologize, but I don't think that Black should be blamed, if there is no proof...

Oh, and in the event Black did do it... if Messiah did nail Borden while in XPW, he's lucky to have just lost his thumb...

Think about it.

Messiah leaves the promotion.

Messiah works for the competition.

Messiah gets his thumb chopped off.

Messiah gets an America's Most Wanted piece.

When America's Most Wanted attempted to interview Rob Black, the doors were shut in their face.

If you had nothing to do with it, why would you avoid a chance to clear your name?

Oh well, Messiah's now one of the hottest Indy names in America. And where's Rob Black? Being investigated by the government for making such movies as "Eat My Jizz" and "Extreme Teen", where creepy old guys fuck girls in schoolgirl uniforms.

Messiah - 2, Rob Black - 1

I really wouldn't consider Messiah a top indy name in North America, he'd have trouble cracking mosts top 50-75... He is an alright worker, but hardly a top wrestler in the states (even though being in the top 50, 75, 100 is still a feat onto itself)

However, when talking about Rob Black's denying AMW an interview, you still haven't given proof... only a motive... Regardless, that isn't the point at hand...

A better question about CZW's past... who trained all these guys?

Zandig= Johnny Rodz, I think

Ric Blade, Lobo, Nick Gage= "CZW Wrestling Academy" (aka self-trained)

Chris Cash, GQ, Ian Knoxx, Chris Stylz= CZW Wrestling Academy/Jon Dahmer

Z-Barr= CZW Wrestling Academy/Mr. Motion

B-Boy= California Championship Wrestling School

Hurricane Kidd=Ruckus

Derek Frazier= Ruckus

Messiah= Carlito Montana

Nick Mondo= Al Snow's Bodyslammers

He's currently the CZW Heavyweight Champion. I know he's also worked for IPW down in Florida (I'm not sure of the initials of the threads, it where Billy Fives, Justice, Steve Madison and others work), and he and the rest of the HIV do some work out in So-Cal, last I heard.

So, he's doing pretty good for himself. I consider him on the second level on the indy elite, not up there with Daniels and Low-Ki and others, but still a solid star.

Yes, Messiah, B-Boy and The Backseat Boyz work for SoCal's PCW promotion as "the Philly Connection" Messiah's the Champ and the BSB have the tag belts.

Messiah has had some excellent matches in PCW with Chris Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and Super Dragon. On Par with any of his other work IMO

Messiah also works GSCW/APW-LA once in awhile.

In Fact, they will be at today's PCW show...

Which I have to leave for pretty soon, if I want to make it in time....

So he got his hands fixed then, I didn't hear much after the original incident?

From what i've seen of him i've been impressed so I hoped he was doing all right.

Actually, he never really got his hand fixed. He just wrestles with his thumb 'stump', for lack of a better word.

"We have a situation hear where you are running your mouth about a subject that you have absolutely no knowledge of."

- Vince McMahon, on Bob Costas

That exemplifies what so many of you are doing here.

Firstly, some factual corrections because not even the CZW fans who posted in this thread have a lot of knowledge about CZW.

- Ric Blade left CZW because Zandig refused to pay for his medical coverage upon him getting injured at a CZW show. "A couple of factual errors in the first paragraph. First of all, at the time, JAPW WAS a direct rival to CZW, a very heated rival- CZW was in Jersey around the time. And Blade, in his quit post, certainly DID put JAPW over and bury CZW." That quote is false. He never shitted on CZW while in JAPW. And CZW began the heat with JAPW by stealing so many of the wrestlers they had grown from teenage wrestling fans into indy wrestlers, i.e. Trent Acid, Nick Berk, Reckless Youth, and so many others.

- His thumb injury came a year off after he jumped to CZW. Throughout that first year, he repeatedly slandered Rob Black, defamated his character, spread false rumors, accused Black of criminal actions, and other things. What Messiah did was walk into Harlem and start calling all the black people there the "n" word.

- "And Extreme Associates wanted to SHOOT AND STORE PORN IN VIKING HALL. That's defecating on the building, quite literally."

Now, you are resorting to straight out lying. That is 100% false and I know that for a fact, seeing as how I've spoken to several current and former EA employees on several occasions.

Some more factual corrections:

Cash and GQ were backyard wrestlers before being trained by CZW alumni. Same goes with Ruckus. And Sonjay. And M-Dogg. And J-Pro.

And Zandig was not trained by Johnny Rodz. He was trained by a "Iron" Mike Sharpe (who worked some WWF shows years ago) who trained him out of his garage.

And people say I don't know whawt I'm talking about. Funny how I seem to be whipping the asses of ShooterJay, Sandman9000, anbd so many others in this thread who know nothing about CZW.

Oh, and another thing - to the guy who said that the thing where Z-Barr bashed ECW at COD3 was an angle...DUH. Who cares, though? He defacated on the ECW Arena by saying that it's the CZW Arena before CZW even ran a show there. What followed was - thanks to his and other CZW wrestler and management's disrespect - the whole indy circuit following their lead and naming the arena after themselves before they evne ran a show there.

So if someone insults someone else for a year, they are allowed to cut their thumb off?

So XPW only called the Viking Hall the XPW arena because CZW did?

If someone says something in Heel Character mode, is it true?

XPW employees are going to be completely unbiased when talking about being ejected from Viking Hall, they would never lie

If you get trained after backyarding, does it not count?

And finally

Do You Understand Irony?

"So if someone insults someone else for a year, they are allowed to cut their thumb off?"

Somebody's comprehensions skills absolutely suck because never did I say that.

"So XPW only called the Viking Hall the XPW arena because CZW did?"

No, they called it that because CZW, JAPW, MECW, and all of the other promotions that have ran in Viking Hall called it that.

"If someone says something in Heel Character mode, is it true?"

Of course not. Is it true that Viking Hall should be called the CZW Arena? Of course not, but that's what Z-Barr said. By your logic, anything anybody says - including Rob Black's shoot comments on ECW - are all false because he said them as a heel. Get real. CZW disrespected the arena.

"XPW employees are going to be completely unbiased when talking about being ejected from Viking Hall, they would never lie"

No, they wouldn't, considering many weren't with the company anymore, so they have no obligation to lie. I also got the info from some ex-employees who left with heat with the company, and even THEY told me that there were never any such plans. Never was such a thing reported by anybody, either. You're making stuff up.

"If you get trained after backyarding, does it not count?"

Ruckus was never trained, even after his backyard days. The training Cash, GQ, and the others you named were minimal. Very minimal. Most of their experience come from backyard matches, as so many people on this board have already pointed out.

I repeat:

"We have a situation hear where you are running your mouth about a subject that you have absolutely no knowledge of."

- Vince McMahon, to Bob Costas

Time for more argument fun, you'll quote my stuff and respond to each sentance, then I'll do the same, until I get bored, then you'll probably think you out-discussed me.

And I repeat, I'm loving your use of that quote. Given that you're pretty much infamous for doing said action.

What Messiah did was walk into Harlem and start calling all the black people there the "n" word. Even if it was Black that was responsiuble for the attack, which there is NO evidence whatsoever of, Messiah lured Black into attacking him. Nothing warrants what happened to Messiah. But if in fact it was-by your logic-connected to Black, then Messiah in a very sufficient way had everything he got coming to him. But of course, in your logic, Nevermortal or whatever your name is, it's completely logical to slander somebody and accuse them of being a devilish criminal and expect no repercussions whatsoever. Get fucking real.

What followed was - thanks to his and other CZW wrestler and management's disrespect - the whole indy circuit following their lead and naming the arena after themselves before they evne ran a show there.

Oy vey.

CZW didn't steal any wrestlers from JAPW- Berk, Blade and the Backseats were working for JAPW and CZW simultaneously for quite some time. When Berk got a concussion in a JAPW match, right before he was booked for CZW, Zandig gave the remaining "floating wrestlers" (unsure whether Blade was still with CZW at the time) a choice, him or them, and they chose CZW.

And as for the porn in VH accusation, feel free to ask any member of the PA Athletic commission or the owners of the VH building, their statements- that illicit equipment WAS found in VH, which, along with nonpayment of the lease and never clearing it with the VH owners to stage concerts, was something that broke their agreement. Their testimony is clearly more reliable than someone who has a personal bias- the EA crew. Rhetoric 101.

Yes, Cash, GQ, Ruckus, Hurricane Kidd, MDogg, and Josh Pro were backyarders, that's well known. There's somebody on TSM who knows New School from their backyarding days. To reiterate, here's their formal training.

Cash/GQ - CZW Wrestling Academy, Jon Dahmer

HK- Ruckus

MDogg/Josh Pro - CAPW Training Center

Ruckus- Chad Parker

And your statements regarding the Messiah thumb incident disgust me as a human being, so I'm going to ignore them.

And questioning Sandman's, my own, and (if he enters this thread) Phoenix Fury Legdrop's knowledge of CZW and independent wrestling in general will not endear you to many on this board. And how is this "whipping our ass?" This is a conversation over CZW's past, not a fight. That last statement reeks of immaturity.

What do you mean by illicit materials? Porn boxes? A film set?
