Guest Daniel Report post Posted March 27, 2002 After seeing the first ever WWF Draft, I am in SHOCK. They had one chance to do this, and they basically blew it. Seriously, is McMahon trying to sabotage Flair’s show or what? Why the f*ck does the Sportz Entertainment promoter get all the wrestlers, whilst the GREATEST MAN EVER gets all the washed up, has-been, never were, work rate killing deadweight? At one point, I thought Flair was going to say; “on behalf of WWF Smackdown, my next pick is…[Ahmed Johnson, or Viscera]”. And then he closes with Lita!? Shit, what about Taijiri, and WHAT ABOUT RAVEN?!? Great to here Benoit’s name get a pop. He better go on a killing streak when he returns. Ditto Rhyno. Hopefully the draft gave some hints to a totem pole of sorts. The only bright spot of Flair’s drafting was Brock Lesnar. (Thank God he prevented that match and then got to throw around a big guy. He’s now my hero.) I’d add RVD to that list, but it makes no sense. I thought that all Champs would be floating from one show to another. Taking RVD for example, he can now only wrestle on Flair’s show, which means Vince’s guys can never be IC Champ. Unless invitations are allowed between camps, particularly to build PPV’s, but then the whole notion is corrupted. Speaking of such, good to see that angles are as devalued as Title belts these days. McMahon and Flair are shown diligently planning all night, but the whole thing became a game of tit-for-tat. Rock being number one made sense, especially after he beat Hogan, but what the fuck are they thinking about with Flair? And why is the nWo the only unit to be drafted? Doesn’t make much sense. To be optimistic, and I may be jumping the gun here, if they stretch the angle to Smackdown, then they could trade picks. Although this seems a 50/50 chance at best, even if it makes sense, the way they were carrying on. I think Austin would be best on RAW, but then he has to work close to the NWO and we don’t get a WOMP-ASS Benoit/Austin feud. (Anyone remember “Benoit 101”?). They better sought out that problem soon. McMahon seems to forget that Hogan and nash nearly sunk his company, whilst Austin had to carry it on his back for most the last four years. Again, to tap into some optimism here and this may be a long-term thing at best. Flair’s show is full of old and big guys, but with the ‘lottery’, he will be allocated some younger guys. (Turns out that didn't happen either. F*ck McMahon). With Lesnar and RVD in the first ten, and then others to follow, Flair’s show could be used as some sort of elevation roster, where midcarders are put over and built up. If this occurs, it will be tremendous boon to the PPV midcard, and could help establish and elevate some new stars. And I don’t mean X-Pac. If Stephanie stays off TV for at least 6 months, this may have been the GREATEST SHOW EVER! However I don’t see the need for security to drag her out. Seriously, was she gonna hide under the ring and get packed up with it in the truck to be unpacked at the next show? What a ridiculous match. To reiterate though, if the midcarders don’t get to run rampant on RAW, then it is going to be a painful show to watch. I thought Big Show needed time off. And McMahon better not consume 40 minutes of Smackdown each week. Otherwise, the future looks very grim indeed. I think that all Champions should’ve been listed and excluded from drafting, and then when they lose their title, they can slot into the camp that the new champ came from. Just some final thoughts; F*ck Hulkamania and all this nostalgia bullshit. It's embarassing and painful to watch. Haven't people realised how bad he sucks? He's one of two guys (Nash being the other) who actually walks for a run-in. If I may paraphrase Edge; '1992 called, and they think you suck as well.' Kevin Nash couldn't make a Tough Enough tryout, yet he's one of the highest paid guys in the company. F*ck that as well. McMahon is lucky there's no other big companies out there, because a lot of his stuff, written by Steph's team, is hard to watch and insulting to the intelligence. Come to think of it, wit the trend created over the last 12 months of booking disaster, maybe it shouldn't be so shocking that this was a miss as well. Guest Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Remember- The two will probably end up trading a lot of guys, so I doubt the rosters will look like they do now for long. I agree with you about the titles. They need to be the top priority of the wrestlers, or just get rid of them. Don't be surprised that the nWo was drafted as a team and not explained. It's the new rave in the WWF- "Angles with no explanation that don't make sense." I am one of the guys of the opinion that this Hulkamania stuff is cool for now, knowing it won't last very long. How long can you cheer the guy before his matches get so bad, you can't anymore? Besides, I was at Nitro in Rochester, NY in April, 2000, and trust me, when everyone is chanting Hogan's name, it gets infectious, and you can't not cheer. Guest X-Factor Corperation Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Their main problem is that they didn't draft Funaki. Hopefully he'll be the comishinor of Metal.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Its not as if Flair is going to get to book RAW. The draft ended up pretty much as everyone predicted, with the exception being that Vince got the Smackdown roster, and Flair RAW. I don't understand why so many people are complaining, except for the ones that only get RAW.
