Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted June 10, 2003 ok, I think Doomsday gets to stay, you can just vote him out if you hate him. I'm keeping Galactus off, because I really jive with that whole 'force of nature who does what he needs to survive' schtick. Other than tweeners, I think it's just going to come down to personal choices as I finalize the brackets. But keep debating, give me things to think about. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Bane is also eh, but he's certainly better than Doomsday. The argument against Doomsday: Just suddenly appears in the middle of the ocean, no explanation given. No particular powers, except good at punching and getting punched. No character. Can't talk. Just walks around aimlessly killing things that are within punching range. Finally has climactic battle with Superman. Punches. Gets punched. Repeats this for several issues. Dies. Put it this way. Spiderman is minding his own business on a roof. The writers decide to kill off Spiderman. So a lightning bolt suddenly appears out of nowhere and kills Spiderman completly at random and then disappers. Is the lightning bolt now a legendary comic book villian? Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted June 10, 2003 So would you rather I replace Doomsday with "Dude who shot Batman's parents" or "dude who shot Uncle Ben?"
Guest raptor Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Bane and Doomsday need to be in it. They'll be gone early, but for sheer historical value, they're more important than a a lot of the villains on that list. It doesn't matter if Doomsday was random, he still got the ultimate blowjob push and KILLED SUPERMAN. The unkillable. The (arguably) most recognized hero in the history of comics, if not all of fiction. He was on the front page of newspapers across the world. Random? Yes. Unimportant? NO. Bane's long term relevance may not be as good as other villains, but he's still important enough to be among the top sixty something villains ever.

Wasn't it established that he was also incredibly fast for his size? I was reading the Death of Superman TPB (a few months ago I think) and I remember one of the Justice League pointing that out. And doesn't he come back invulnerable from what killed him? That sounds pretty bad assed. No motive? Most of the villains on the list don't have any and aren't complex characters in the least. And wasn't he an experiment of scientists on Krypton? He may not have had any backstory in the beginning, but DC had to have had laid out his origin at some point, right? Someone help me out here. Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Yeah, these scientists were looking to colonize Krypton, which was very inhospitable. So they sent this gentically injured baby down, it died in like five seconds, but they recovered some DNA and made a clone, then that kid lasted ten seconds. See, each time the DNA would adapt to what killed it and make the body stronger and stronger until they eventually came up with Doomsday, who killed everything on the planet and the Kryptonians moved in. That's pretty close from what I recall. I would say that Doomsday and Bane both make it, but I'll put them up against low tier villains with cult followings to see how they fare and you can vote them out early if you wish. Feel free to keep talking, I should have the tourney posted sometime after two p.m. today.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted June 10, 2003 badass evil Sub-Mariner Dude hasn't been evil in about forever, if you're knocking out Electra and Deadpool (who at least are still killers) you can't keep in Namor. Saint of Killers Dude, I love Preacher but The Saint is pretty much a Galactus type of force of nature "I kill because I have to/am ordered to" sort of guy. Personally I would keep both of them because Galactus' ammoralty is a rather filmsy excuse for eating billions of people's planets. It's not like he couldn't eat unhabited planets he just doesn't care enough to bother. MORE VILLIANS (so we can get rid of Violator) White Martians (JLA) Absorbing Man (Thor/everyone in Marvel) Mordu The Mystic (JSA) Obsidian (JSA) Eclipso (Currently in JSA) Morgan Le Fey (Avengers) Baron Von Zemos I and II (Avengers/Thunderbolts) Gravitron (Thunderbolts) Stanley Dover (Green Arrow) Mirror Master (Flash) Captain Cold (Flash) The Ghoul (WCW The Comic Book)

If a planet is strong enough and his herald takes there, he will more than likely get repelled and the planets grows. If they aren't, they die. It's basically evolution and natural selection at work. Yeah but when does a stronger planet repelling Galactus ever happen? Sure Earth has beaten them back a couple of times but the rest of the galaxy pretty much gets chomped down again and again. Basically, Galactus is like a big huge vampire that has to suck down a planet all the time to survive. Just because he's not as giddy about it as say Dracula shouldn't make it seem less intrusive or worthy of being called a villian.
