Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 So...tpww7...and since Rudo is here and I'm certain he watched it too... how was the show?
Guest tpww7 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Besides the god awful Kimo-Tank match and the DQ at the start, I enjoyed the show alot.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO! COUTURE~! VITOR~! KIMO~? That was one of the best UFC PPV's that I have ever seen. Totally delivered beyond expectations. White vs. Freeman was insane, shouldn't have been a draw because that renders the match meaningless, but still - a really consistant effort and lots of transitions. BELFORT ROCKED!! OLD VITOR! OLD VITOR! OLD VITOR~!! SICK knees. Mir vs. Sims was good up to the stomps (stupid rule) and definitely didnt set the right tone for the show. Edwards vs. Ruiz was really good as well, with Edwards dominating (NOYCE KICK!), but a finish would have really made it. Couture vs. Chuck was awesome. Nice striking and sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet slams. I marked out for each of em. But I think I summed up the fight in the Double Shot: Liddell vs. Couture is a head-scratcher. Not in the "who is going to win" kinda way, but a "what the fuck are they thinking" kinda way. Liddell vs. Tito will be huge - so why is Zuffa risking Liddell against a former 2x heavyweight champion? Sure, Liddell has better standup and a really nice sprawl, and sure, Randy has lost his last 2 fights and seems to have lost his fire for fighting, but do NOT count Randy Couture out! Do not take him lightly Zuffa, because he very well could beat Chuck Liddell and that big Tito vs. Chuck match that you've been waiting for will be FUCKED! So where do we go from here? A Vitor/Couture rematch??? A Chuck/Tito match? A Couture/Tito match? ...The lightheavyweight division just heated up.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 This has nothing to do with Meltdown, but... Has anyone heard any news on a Penn / Uno rematch ? I've been dying to see a rematch after that Bullshit " Draw ".
Guest TheHulkster Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Joe Rogan was right, Vernon White kinda got screwed. He controlled Freeman on the ground for the most part and hung with him standing throughout the entire 3 rounds. Yves Edwards, Vitor, and Randy Couture looked amazing tonight. Liddell suprisingly was dominated by the former heavyweight champ. Tank should quit MMA and just try to be a boxer. All in all, a great night of fighting.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 How bad was the Lindland self-K.O?
Guest Lei Tong Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 I created a topic jsut for that. Like i've been saying, Randy is a BAD match-up for Chuck. His orthodox boxing negates Liddell's striking, and Chuck's sprawl is useless against clinch takedowns. Unfortunately for Randy, I don't see him beating Tito.
