What's even the point of two tag divisions?

The tag team division on Smackdown has consistently been producing the best fueds and matches ever since the SD tag titles have been created. That tag tournament finals at No Mercy may have been the best WWE match of the year on TV or PPV. We have a decent selection of times to compete for it--although there basically is only one tag fued at a time, and always for the titles.

 

On the other hand, we have Raw's tag division. It's made up completely of cobbled-together teams, Les Verts Enfants, and the Dudleys. It sucks, and WWE doesn't even give a crap about it (the Raw tag title match pre-Mania was on Heat. HEAT!). It also appears that the tag division is the dumping ground for the former challengers of HHH.

 

So why not kill the Raw tag division, and ship, say, the Duds to Smackdown for some hosses/fluffers? Bisch himself hates tag team matches, and Austin (characterwise) doesn't care for tag teaming, so it would actually fit in if they opted to do that.

 

Of course, instead I guess they'll throw the tag belts onto La Resistance. I expect that reign will last just until Two Dudez with Attitudez get the titles for consolation prizes for playing The Game.

I am trying to make this point where it isn't needed in the Chrisitan/IC title thread. There is no reason to have a tag division there and it only kills drawing power for either show when you bring something to make the other show equivalent. Make people HAVE to watch RAW for IC divison matches and women's matches, and make people HAVE to watch Smackdown for tag an CW matches. Why cancel them out?

Bookdust grasped my attention because they just never could get the belts. Problem is, back then, you had the tag division loaded with guys who needed singles pushes. Stripping Bookdust of the belts that quick because management wanted Regal/Storm to carry the belts and look like totally pussies simultaneously was a ridiculous booking move. The tag division was dead after that.

La Resistance should be traded to OVW and 3MW should have their contracts bought out. Honestly, they will produce NOTHING this year.

The whole reason they introduced another set of tag belts was to be more "competitive."

 

I'm glad SD ended up getting tag titles, but Raw's division is pitiful.

 

And how could a live show on cable be considered competition for a taped show on network TV airing Thursday? (that's not even counting other countries that have both on a taped delay). They aren't competiting, so WWE should get that idiotic notion out of their heads since it makes no sense (yeah, I know...this is WWE).

 

So maybe giving both shows a bit of uniqueness would better them both in the process. Make SD the home of a killer tag division, and have the midcarders battling over the IC belt.

I forgot 3MW was even around. I agree though--I wouldn't want them on SD or Raw.

The tag divison on Raw is brutal, other than 3-Minute Warning, The Dudleys and La Resistance all the teams are tossed together. The matches are totally pointless and I dont even know who the champions are right now.

You are 100% correct there, but that holds true for 3/4 of the booking decisons in the last 3 years.
