IPW 6/6/03

Florida Wrestleplex

St. Petersburg, Florida

The opening bout saw The Vandalz become the #1 contenders to the NWA Florida tag team titles by beating AOD members Naturally Marvelous (Scoot Andrews & Mike Sullivan w/Ms. Jenni Lee.) Towards the end of the match, Sedrick Strong and David Babylon came from the audience and attacked both members of Naturally Marvelous, leading to the Vandalz win. The celebration was cut short as the Shane Brothers came to the ring and laid out the Vandalz.

Lennox answered an open challenge issued by Naphtali and defeated the former Florida Unified Cruiserweight champion. Lennox busted Naphtali open after several Kendo stick shots to the forehead. Naphtali hit the “Fountain of Death” and went for a second one but landed right in the arms of Axis who came out to help his manager. Naphtali thought he had victory in hand after using the Bino Driver ’98, but the referee saw Naphtali had his feet on the ropes. Lennox turned the tables and hit Naphtali with the Bino Driver and the referee put her feet on the ropes.

The new and improved Double Deuce Inc. (“Uptown” Frankie Capone, Pat Powers, Pat McGroin w/Cannon & Mark Gold) defeated IPW TV champion “Superfan” Mark Zout AKA Chris Benoit (w/Job Zout AKA Saturn w/Moppy,) Boules Azoules & Comic Book Guy Anderson. This feud seems to be going on and on. The end came for Benoit/Zout as McGroin tossed powder in Benoit/Zout’s eyes which led to the pin. Moppy suffered a concussion and is going under observation as we speak.

Florida WrestlePlex student Luther “Bodybag” Jackson won his IPW debut by defeating Pretty Fly. Jackson got the win with the East Tampa slam. After the match, Jackson hit Fly with the “Bonecrusher.”

Kubiak (w/Naphtali) defeated Chaos in a first blood match. Kubiak was busted open first but the referee got knocked down and never saw it. Naphtali whipped out some Vaseline and applied it to the injury. Naphtali then busted Chaos open with several coal-miners glove punches to the forehead to bring an end to the match. After the bell rang, Havoc came out to apparently help Chaos, but instead jumped him.

Havoc remained in the ring as his Falls Count Anywhere (except the ring) with AOD member Agent Steele (w/ Sexretary Tiffany) was next on the card. This match went to the floor real quick. It then went to the concession stand for a couple of beers and then out the front door of the WrestlePlex. Steele tossed Havoc into the back of a pickup truck and had a two-count but the driver took off and drove away. Both men returned to the building after the Florida Unified Cruiserweight title match and continued the fight. Steele got the pin after he hit Havoc with the “Steele Curtain” on a folding chair.

The NWA Florida tag team champions, the Shane Brothers (w/Hardcore Giant Ron Niemi) defeated Jerelle Clark & Navy Seal to retain the belts and move onto “Paybacks Are Hell” on June 14th. Clark had the titles in hand but Niemi pulled referee Star Stevens out to the floor before the three could hit the mat. While on Stevens was on the floor arguing with Neimi, Mike & Todd hit Clark with what looked like a double swinging chokeslam and scored a pin.

Florida Unified Cruiserweight champion Justice retained the title belts by defeating “Rat Magnet” David Babylon. Sad news for Babylon fans as he appeared to suffer a broken nose from a kick by Justice.

The main event of the evening was the St. Pete Street fight between AOD members Roderick Strong & Rod Steel and Sedrick Strong (w/So Cal Val) & Mikey Tenderfoot. Both Steel and Tenderfoot were busted open and the foursome went all over the ‘Plex. At one point, Steel hit Tenderfoot with a “Tiger Bomb” on the ramp way. The end came for Tenderfoot & Sedrick as Rod hit the “Deep Dicken” on Tenderfoot and then Roderick got the win. Agent Steele came out to join the other AOD members as they took shots on the former AOD member Tenderfoot.
