Basically he's a nice bat off the bench, and a fill in DH. It remains to seen how he performs in New York though.

Useless trade. The Yankees already have Bubba Trammell on their roster. Just give him more at bats.

This seems like a Steinbrenner move, just like Canseco and others a few years back. I think Georgie thinks back and goes "didn't that Ruben guy hit a lot of HRs a few years back? Lets get him!" Forget that he's over the hil, that he called Torre a liar over playing time in 96 and doesn't get along with him, forget that he won't get any playing time after Nick Johnson comes back and Giambi goes to DH where he belongs, forget that he offers very little besides the chance of a HR here or there. This is not a move that Cashman would make, he seems to have common sense and knows how to put together a good team, albeit with considerable money at his disposal.
