Guest edge007 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Anyone got any footage of Edge winning the IC titles for the first time? Or maybe any TV reports? By the way, since Judgement Day, last year: Triple H has held the title for 8 months/PPVs Triple H has won 9 times in PPVs over this period Triple H has held the title for 6 months since he won it at Armageddon Take this how you like.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Don't forget: HHH has lost every single meaningless tag match in the last year (except for when Hebner forgets the finish and just assumes HHH is winning). The formula...she's an easy one.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 He's held it for 10 monthes save for one.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Yes...somehow his "faces don't make good transitional champions" spiel didn't prevent his friend from getting a meaningless one month title reign.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Was it really transitional if the belt went to Trips again though?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Sure. The point was to transition heat onto HHH. It failed.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Notice how they even tried to put RVD in there to make it seem like it was a different feud and to give it more heat? Yeah, that obviously didn't work either as RVD was at New York at Armeggeddon.
Guest Matt Young Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 In response to your first query, Edge won his first IC title at a house show the night before Fully Loaded '99 (I believe July 24th). Therefore, I'm not sure if there is footage of it around.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 What's the story behind that? Who decided to do it? It sure doesn't seem like a decision Vince would make. I mean...the hometown crowd gets to see Edge win his first title...and then Jarrett wins it back the next night so that the ppv audience sees a title change. Was that the last non-hardcore title change at a house show?
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Was that the last non-hardcore title change at a house show? Yes. Edge gets to hold that record. Edit: As he even said in one of his own Edgucations.
Gert T Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Was that the last non-hardcore title change at a house show? I think so, the only other title changes like that even around that time were WCW tag titles swapping and I think those were even two years before Edge-Jarrett.
Guest Human Fly Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 With House Show business like it is now, I'm surprised they haven't had a title change or two to try and make people think they are important.
Guest Neil-o-Mac Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Was that the last non-hardcore title change at a house show? I think so, the only other title changes like that even around that time were WCW tag titles swapping and I think those were even two years before Edge-Jarrett. IIRC, Lance Storm dropped the WCW US Title to Terry Funk at an Amarillo house show and got it back at the next house show, all before the next TV taping.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 basically, Ken Shamrock missed his flight and Vince asked Edge to step in, and gave him the strap as a reward, to win in his hometown
