Do you care if the wwf dies

Recommended Posts

Guest Risk

Frankly, it wouldn't be so bad.  The next big thing in wrestling would HAVE to come up.  The strong would survive, and the weak would perish in indy hell.  Maybe wrestling would be better without a TOP TOP TOP promotion, it can get back to territories.

Anyways, what do YOU think and feel about it?

Since a TV network would inevitably take a chance on another wrestling show...

As tough as it is for me to say this...

No...

Let it die.

A monopoly is never good...and a monopoly run by nepotism and who you're fucking is even worse.

Austin, Foley, and Jericho could potencially start a new promotion.  Flair could help too.

I would care if the WWF died. Do I think it will? No. I think the WWF would go into another dark age. Ratings would fall somewhat, business will go down, but it won't die.

If another company wants to compete with Vince, then it will have to do it the hard way. Get a TV deal and created your own stars. Of course you also get some free agents, but the only way to compete with Vince...is to do it the way he came back against WCW. He had to create new stars.

Vince is seemingly becoming Bischoff, as in not being able to create new stars.  Ironic.  When he does try, we end up with Maven as a champion.

BIll Goldberg and Steve Austin.

They both want a match.

They both can have a show built around thier star power and names alone

THAT will make inVince-a-bull sweat bullets and cry while Ross will strong arm bad contracts to everybody while they can.

Business could pick up here

Turner is just a phone call away along with a promo genius Foley . . .

And how long can they sustain anything like that? Every far-fetched new wrestling promotion idea since WCW died is somehow based around some sort of "dream match" from 1998 that people will supposedly pay to see. So, that pops 1 or 2 buyrates, and then what? Back to square 1, and MAYBE you made some money, assuming you weren't stupid enough to pay guys like Goldberg and Savage 5 million dollars a year.

i would care.  the wwf is all we have left right now and if they die so could wrestling in america.  imo it is stupid for any wrestling fan to wish that the wwf dies.

Goldberg is an inconsiderate piece of doo that kicks motherfuckers and sunset flips old ladies walking out by his 'stop-light motion phenom' drive way.

But people like him. And they luv the Undetaker.

Also, they have Austin, not some idiot like Mike AWE SOME who can't say shit. Or that magical Lance STORM FUED DREAM MATCH that we all wanted. And no Tank Abott.

Talk about Foley, Austin, Chris Jeric-ho killer, and marks and their forever lasting love affair w Bill Goldbeer and your set! Ted can pay all their new accounts man!

No.  Unless someone can financially back it and guarantee a TV deal from the beginning, there won't be another fed.  Networks and investors will say "Hey, the WWF, the most successful wrestling organization in America, possibly the world, died.  Why should we take a chance on a wrestling fed?"

I wouldn't like it if the WWF were to die, but it wouldn't be the end of the world, you know?  I guess I'd just watch DVDs on Mondays or something.

Hey, I got lots of wrestling tapes featuring matches I never get bored of watching over and over. I'll still get my wrestling fix. F*ck the WWF if they want to push the unover Kane and X-Pac to main event, give Undertaker *another* title run, and totally ignore the guy who brought them back from the depths of hell in 1996 by giving a killer quote after killing Jake Roberts...

If it got to the stage where the WWF died then that would be terrible. It would be really hard for any other fed to go national for the reasons Spaceman Spiff said.

Independent promoters would probably go bankrupt bringing in all the free agents. The whole wrestling scene could basically die in the USA. It happened in the UK in the late 80's when the head of the channel that showed wrestling here decided it was too downmarket and removed it. Only in the last year or so do there appear to be any signs of a comeback based on a hybrid ECW, Puro, Mexican, European style. for the years before that you had bad WWF rip-offs and WCW, WWF rejects puttin no effort in. The worst match I've ever seen may well have been Giant Haystacks (loch Ness in WCW) against P.N News.

WCW + ECW dying didn't do wrestling any favours (apart from one mark out Raw moment) and WWF dying could kill the whole industry.

But as I found out when I moved to a place that didn't have live wrestling shows or cable or satellite a few years back you can live without it (until you get back to civilisation and become ten times more rabid than you ever were before).

I would care if the WWF went under.  As much as I bitch and moan, I still love prowrestling and the WWF.

But I don't think the WWF will ever die.  Of course two years ago, people said the same thing about Enron.

it would be weird, and i can't see it. They always manage to please a select fanbase. But then Vince dosen't have Turner's infinite funding capacity. WCW would have died ten times over if it didn't have time warner behind it.

The WWF started bleeding as soon as Vince McMahon bought WCW last March.  I think the introduction of the nWo was the true beginning of the end for the WWF.  The Invasion feud died, WCW died, Chris Jericho is being depushed, Austin might get canned, and the nWO and Triple H are at the top of the company.  If the WWF died, I would feel grief, for all the great things the WWF had in 1992 and 1997.  But the grief would go away, and I'd possibly (and finally) grow out of pro wrestling.  The WWF has lost its luster, and this time Vince McMahon cannot save himself from the clique, simply because he chooses not to.  His choice.  Austin, Foley, Bret Hart, and Chris Jericho could start their own federation, and with those four (maybe Flair and Heyman could join), they wouldn't do too bad, and maybe we can see some great wrestling for once.....

As somebody said before me Thank God for my wrestling videotapes!!!! I rather see my old ECW and best of the WWF tapes that I got from JohnMcAdam.com over and over and never get tired of real athletic extreme wrestling rather than watching 80's nostalgia on RAW and Smackdown now.I don't wish the WWF to die but the way it's being run will kill it eventually.

You're very optimistic.  I think it would be extremely to do that no matter what wrestling talent would be involved.  WWF's death would make any possible investor/TV exec extremely hesitant to fund and/or put on TV any start-up federation.  And like I mentioned before, w/out a TV deal & funding, you'd be dead in the water.

I would be sad, I grew up watching the wwf and i dont see it as a complete impossibility. Mick Foley already walked out and now maybe Austin, and if the Rock goes away and films movies, than there lacking the star power.

Hell no I wouldn't want the WWF to die. There is nothing else to watch and I'm too big of a wrestling fan to rely on my little group of tapes. No other feds could get anywhere near the popularity of the WWF; an indy fed can't do it, thats laughable. If the WWF died it could very well be the end of any big time pro wrestling shows period.

You people drive me nuts saying that you want the only big North American promotion to die; the biggest wrestling company ever which spans all across the world. I cant believe you are even real wrestling fans when you say that sort of thing, it makes me sick to see this.

Plus, the WWF isn't dying. It's crumbling a bit on the inside and the product quality has gone down...but it's just not a wrestling boom right now. The wrestling buisness goes through this, they can have 2 years good then a year where they almost go bankrupt and fish it back out of the hole and get it incredibly popular again. Look at the ratings, look at the media; Vanity Fair magazine had a little blurb about the Rock in it. Look at the main-stream publicity, it is just as high as it was and has been. The WWF has lost alot of casual fans; thats expected for a wrestling company for petes sake.

Stop digging the WWF's grave you bunch of ingrates. Geez.

Folks, as much as I and millions others would love to see it happen, Goldberg ain't coming back.  It just ain't happening.  He is done.

Time to become a Brock Lesnar mark I guess.  Oh well, I still have the nWo, RVD, and now Brock.

I dont think itll die either. But now, it should be bigger then ever with no competition and all.  but now vince is competing agaisnt himself it seems.  Just dont read too much into it.  The sad thing is everyone is complaining, but we all continue to watch,  monpoly is fact.

and, btw will cqnadians evr get over montreal for crying out loud.  I mean why are you so mad, it wasn't cuz Bret was canadian, it was because he refused to job, and that is very unprofessional on his part.  He got what he deserved.  And Im not a vince supporter.  wcw and wwf wee still warring at this point and if bret showed up on nitro with the wwf title, it may have killed the wwfs credibility.  Now this also is not meant to say I hate Bret, cuz I do like him a lot, saw him at the WWA ppv and felt so sad to see whats become of him..

and why are we ranting so much, must be the weather lol

later dudes

ECW was an indy fed and it achieved literally a cult following.

We don't really give a damn what makes YOU sick.  Why don't you stop forcing your opinions on us and stop telling us how "real" fans should act.

The media doesn't give a damn about wrestling, they are only intrested in the Rock as a future Hollywood star.  He is popular so they are trying to ride on his coatails.

Who are YOU to tell us what we can and cannot say?  Who are you to tell us we are inGREATS?  The WWF is ungreatful to us!  THEY HAD AN ELDERLY WOMAN GIVE BIRTH TO A HAND!  A FUCKING HAND!  WHO IS UNGRATEFUL NOW!?

THE MAN PUTS HIS NO TALENT DAUGHTER ON TV SO HE CAN PROMOTE HIMSELF AND NOT WRESTLING!  VINCE LETS THE INMATES RUN THE ASYLUM!

Caps off.

To clearify, Vince is ingreatful to us.  Vince and the Kliq are the ones digging the WWF's grave, hell, they already have a tombstone for it.
