Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted March 27, 2002 I'm not fucking telling YOU how to think, I'm giving you my oppinion! ECW was a very successful indy fed...yes, and what happened to it before it got truly mainstream? It screwed itself by digging itself deep into debt. The WWF had an old women give birth to a hand in probably the most popular year professional wrestling has ever had; it was a dumb angle. There have been eight million dumb angles done before and after it. Some of the media does care about pro wrestling; they have wrestlers on for interviews and talk about wrestling! Wrestling is still a very popular form of entertainment believe it or not. You know what? I know you probably don't give a damn what makes me sick, and guess what...I don't care for your oppinions either but I listen to them and look at both sides! This board is for giving oppinions! THE MAN PUTS HIS NO TALENT DAUGHTER ON TV SO HE CAN PROMOTE HIMSELF AND NOT WRESTLING! VINCE LETS THE INMATES RUN THE ASYLUM! I agree with that but it's been happening for years, it will never change. Vince does what he does for the fans; he doesn't cater to smarks, he does what the marks want. Wrong. You were implying that fans saying they wanted the WWF to die would make them somehow not wrestling fans. You weren't giving opinions, you were trying to force your opinions on others. Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted March 27, 2002 ECW was an indy fed and it achieved literally a cult following And look where ECW is today. "Cult following" != WWF success. Cult following won't get you $$$ and a TV deal.

Guest Risk Report post Posted March 27, 2002 And look where ECW is today. "Cult following" != WWF success. Cult following won't get you $$$ and a TV deal. Actually, they did get a TV deal. They would have been successful if they knew how to handle money better.
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted March 27, 2002 I'm back in... Actually, they did get a TV deal. They would have been successful if they knew how to handle money better. Thats whats going to happen to any indy fed, they wont have a ton of money backing them like the WWF or WCW had/has. No indy fed can possibly get off the ground with no money, go look at Jay's new column it explains that in detail.
Guest Risk Report post Posted March 27, 2002 Jay knows his stuff, so I will check it out. Maybe ECW would have succeded with some kind of powerful money backer. Maybe Turner...okay, doubtful he would like the style, but you never know...
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted March 27, 2002 Exactly, it just can't be possible. Nobody can become that big without alot of cash backing them. It happens to alot of indy feds.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted March 27, 2002 They would have been successful if they knew how to handle money better. Debatable. To achieve the type of success that the WWF has, they would have had to get rid of the New Jack type stuff and tone down the "violence" a lot. I don't think there's any way ECW would get the mainstream acceptance the WWF gets by sticking w/ the same "Extreme!" formula
Guest Risk Report post Posted March 28, 2002 During ECW's final run, I'm pretty sure I heard some stuff about New Jack not being there very long. Man...I wonder who trained that guy.
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I believe Bill Watts trained New Jack. I'm not sure, though.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Man, I hope the WWF doesn't die. If it did, I'd be afraid that would start a chain reaction and a lot of indys would start to dry out as well. Japan would benefit but how many more guys could they take on? Whether you like the WWF right now, or the way it's been run, if it goes out of business we will all suffer. I don't think the WWF is really in immediate danger of shutting down though. Their stock has been higher then usual if i'm not mistaken, and they've popped good ratings the last couple of weeks. But they've got to get it in gear with storylines or else thei ratings are going to drop soon.
Guest Risk Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Vince should have just fired everyone in WCW right after he bought it. Cruel? Yes. But it would save their credibility and help them to get noticed in Japan or in a strong indy. Vince could have then hired who he wanted, fired some of his excess guys not pulling their weight, and made the WWF more successful. Basically, the WWF is still dragging WCW's raped carcass behind the machine that is Titansports, the Undisputed title is proff of that. Although the WCW title looks really cool, I don't think it is helping the company.
