Guest caboose Report post Posted June 9, 2003 I tried this once at the old Vanilla Midgets forum and it didn't really take off, but I want to try it again. Basically this is my idea, in the feedback thread for both IZ and HeldDown, everyone who replies should give a score out of 10 for the show. The scores should be whole, halves, or quarters, i.e 8 or 8.5 or 8.25 or 8.75 etc. If people feel the need to, they can post their rating out of ten for individual segments, so we can have a highest rated segment as well. I will add up the scores given by each poster and divide them by the number to find our average rating. Said rating will be that week's show's rating. Its quite simple and it will add another slight hint of competitiveness to the brand split. Feedback on my idea please...
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted June 9, 2003 depends on how much feedback is given...but could work

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Feedback has become less and less lately. This might spark more feedback again. I like it. Plus it allows everyone to see what others thought of their segments since some segments never get talked about.

Plus it allows everyone to see what others thought of their segments since some segments never get talked about. Sounds like we are agreeing on it for the most part.^^^ Although, I have one suggestion. It's just whole numbers and NOT halves and quarters that the masses declare they liked. It's easy to keep score with whole numbers. When calculated by vote power (how it scores) divided by how many voted for that segment, THEN give the answer in halves. EX: I produce a segment on the show. caboose gives it a 6, Zack gives it a 7, SP gives it a 5, and myself gives it a 7. Added together that becomes 25. 25 divided by the four who votes gives the segment an overall value of 6.25 and thusly is pretty decent. Also, we need to have what each score would represent. Guest Some Guy Report post Posted June 9, 2003 I like the idea in theory but the main problem I see is that everyone's name is attached to the ratings. So if I don't like someone's angle or and constantly give it low ratings then someone might get pissed and think I'm or whoever else doesn't like them or is trying to bury them or whatever. I see the potential for hurt feelings or bullshit results to avoid hurt feelings (like no segment ever going lower than an 8 out of 10). I do like the concept and I think if we're going to do "quarter hour" breakdowns then whoever starts the ratings thread should give an outline of the show to be copy and pasted and scored and maybe a reason given for thee rating. That would give better feedback. I would rather know why someone did or didn't like something as opposed to just knowing that they did or didn't like it. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 It could work. Like SG said we should try to weed out as much of the possibility for BS and hurt feelings as possible though.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Let's just make an agreement to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms on how to improve it if we feel it's deserving of a lower rating.
Guest caboose Report post Posted June 9, 2003 How about this then... Every week as well as the feedback folder, I'll start a poll with 1-10 (adopting Flik's whole number idea). The poll will not allow posting so the ratings from each user are anonymous. That can be the start of the actual Show Rating. I'm going to try and figure out a better way for the segments... Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted June 9, 2003 I like the idea of rating segments cause sometimes I never get any feedback on my work and I'm always curious as to what people think of it. I think the biggest problem is trying to remember everything. It's a pain trying to make sure you get all the details in your head, and thusly making sure everyone gets some critism is hard to do.
