Did he mention that they wouldn't come in the original box's?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Get them from Ebay...it'll be cheaper. You can probably get 20 for less than stores sell ten pack for and then you'll have extras if you ever need them again.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Unless he's shipping from overseas and you asked him to take them out of the box to save on shipping The DVDs are probably copies. There's nothing wrong with DVD copies at all, but I just hope you got them for a good price.

I don't remember, but he e-mailed me and asked if I wanted it in DVD cases, he would send it on Thursday. If jewel cases were alright, he would send it on Monday. I wanted to get it ASAP, so jewel cases were fine by me. SOO, would FYE have them?
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 10, 2003 There's nothing wrong with DVD copies at all, but I just hope you got them for a good price. I would never own a copy of something I could just as easily own an original of. And no, he didn't get them at a good price. If they had actually been the originals, then maybe, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that these aren't original DVD's he was selling. The fact that he said they were region free DVD's should have given it away right there, not to mention his talk about labels and the like. No way I'd pay $44 plus s/h for fuckin' pirated DVD's. Mole, you got had. This guy should be reported to eBay, because what he's doing is completely illegal.

Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 10, 2003 From the auction... You are bidding on a region free complete DVD set of all 22 Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 7 episodes spanning 3 DVD's. The discs are formatted with menus and art, and come in DVD cases with full labels. Contact me if you'd like to see some screenshots. These do NOT work on the Playstation 2 (PS2). Please be sure to check for player compatibility before bidding. Thanks! SHIPPING\PAYMENT INFO: I accept paypal (preferred) and money orders only. Shipping within the US is $6.50, and slightly more for outside the US. ...yeah, someone should shut this guy down, he does this quite offten it seems. No one seems to mind, as he has no negitive feedback as of yet, but still, it sucks. Mole, did you assume these were just pirated DVDs, or did you think it was the "real deal"? Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 What do you mean he does this quite often? Everything he said he had, was there. I have no complaints. I knew they weren't the real deal. Season 4 comes out tomorrow, so season 7 won't come out till December 2004. I just wanted season 7 of Buffy in full. I don't care about the extras because I knew that wouldn't come out for a long time. I just wanted the episodes, which I got. There are menus, and shots of each episode. The DVD cover is really good quality, one of the best prints I've seen come off the computer. I have a really good photo printer, and it was better than that. Every episode is in good quality, except for one of them. Like I said, I could of gotten the DVD cases, but I went for the jewel cases.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Bottom line is he's making money illegally. I'm prolly one of the last guys who should say that since I'm no stranger to bootlegs on eBay, being suspended once myself for that very conviction. I just think it's wrong when sellers take big advantage of this and start making hundreds off of it. I see no real harm in making a few bucks from it, but this guy's into big time pirating now. Also, I didn't note the season of the set until now, so I thought you were bidding on something that was already out. At any rate, no way I'd pay that much for something that's fake, whether it's out or not.
Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I was thinking about that earlier today, how illegal it must be for him to be doing this. Like everyone else, he will be caught eventually. $50 bucks is fine with me because it is my favorite show and I wanted all the episodes. I'm going to wait for season 5 and 6 until it comes out offically on DVD.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Why not just download all the episodes yourself like this guy probably did to begin with? haha
Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 No DVD burner and 56K connection. I think he got them straight from TV, and just cut out the commercials. Each episode even has the 'previously on' portion, when I DL a episode for any show, I usually don't get these.
Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Well, Season 5 and 6 are already out on Region 2 (in anamorphic widescreen no less, unlike the crappy US/Canada versions), and Season 7 ain’t far behind. I’m not anti-piracy or anything, but I think you might have made a bum purchase.
Guest mesepher Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I was thinking about that earlier today, how illegal it must be for him to be doing this. Like everyone else, he will be caught eventually. the problem with buying bootlegs off EBAY is.... unless the Feds come after him, EBAY won't remove him since they too are making money off this scam
Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted June 10, 2003 The other thing is, like with illegal porn, if the Feds do bust him, they look at everyone on his contact list and might pay them a visit, too.
Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 The other thing is, like with illegal porn, if the Feds do bust him, they look at everyone on his contact list and might pay them a visit, too. Why?
Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 10, 2003 The other thing is, like with illegal porn, if the Feds do bust him, they look at everyone on his contact list and might pay them a visit, too. Why? Because you purchased pirated items with the total knowledge that they WERE pirated.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I doubt the feds are going to worry about a guy recording episodes off tv or tv episodes off the internet and selling the tapes of them. If you're selling bootlegs of official tapes and DVDs you'd be playing with fire that can burn you. Unless some company is losing money on the bootlegs no ones going to care that much. I mean if the feds were that concerned about such things we'd hear about raids on wrestling tape traders/vendors.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 10, 2003 He orders DVDs...Seller asks him "do you want DVD cases or jewel cases"...the difference is three days extra shipping time...he says "give me jewel cases"...he now wants to buy DVD cases. Getting them 3 days sooner is worth at least $10? :shakes head: dude...you're an idiot

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 Check your movie rental stores. When they have extras they sell for 25¢ Go on uh..tuesday morning to Blockbuster, and go behind the building and do some dumpster diving, and you should be able to get all you want for free. Most BB's just throw the cases away (after employees get their share) because they have no room to store them and the new releases come in cases anyway. Of course if you're above diving in the dumpster for them, then I guess you could ask someone in the store, but they'll probably make you pay for em. Your choice.
