Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted June 13, 2003 City of God. It was out in arthouse theatres at the end of last year and earlier this year. It was the best movie I've seen in about 3 years. Critics and whoever saw it compared it to Gangs of New York, but City of God is what Gangs wanted to be. Just an awesome movie and you guys should check it out when it hits DVD. I promise you won't be disappointed. Interesting that you make that comparison, because I first saw the trailer for City of God preceding Gangs of New York, and was quite excited that it'd come to the Nickelodeon, Santa Cruz' "art house theatre" (because for some reason none of the chains would carry it), unfortunately it never did (at least not that I was aware of...). Do you have any details/dates on a DVD release? I'd love to see it. I looked on amazon and the Miramax sites, but no official release date yet.
