Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 11, 2003 This is to both start discussion and for me to let you all know about the deal I just got, lol. I just picked up the Criterion Collection version of The Silence of the Lambs for only $10.53 on eBay. The seller listed is simply as "The Silence of the Lambs DVD Foster Hopkins", and since I was looking for the OTHER version of the film, I noticed that it was really the Criterion and bid away, lol. So that brings me to this... ...what are some great deals that you guys have found? Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I'll contribute a little later when I have some free time, but just wanna make sure you got a the real deal there, DH. SOTL CC is probably one of the most commonly faked DVD's out there and they've made their way to eBay. There's some lists out there to let you know if you got the real deal there or not, so I'd check those out first. If it's the real thing, then congrats--that's a great find, indeed. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 11, 2003 The Wrestler DVD - $.99 on ebay Shipping - $3 oppertunity to see Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch act - PRICELESS The DVD itself is crappy. Its in one of those clear cases (I've since replaced) and the video quality/sound is terrible..I suppose this is understandable because the movie is 30 years old and the DVD itself is a good 5-6 years old. But I can't really complain for $4.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Two Disc SEs of Citizen Kane and Unforgiven for a 2 for $20 deal at Best Buy. I've never seen the SE of Kane for less than $20.

Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 11, 2003 DH, I don't know exactly where it is, but if you head over to DVDTalks.com, you'll find it if you look hard enough. There are several threads around there concerning the DVD, so with a little searching, you'll find it.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted June 11, 2003 It's all about the Wal-Mart $5.88 bin. Recently I got Night Shift, Towering Inferno and Special Edition of the Batman t.v. show movie with commentary by West and Ward.
Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted June 11, 2003 This discount grocery store near me somehow got its hands on overstock from amazon.com once. I got Monty Python's Flying Circus DVD Set 2 and a huge stack of anime DVDs for the price of $1.99 each. I ended up selling most of it at a great profit. I saw one guy make off like a bandit with the Stanley Kubrick collection on VHS for a mere 2 dollars. I envy that bastard...
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted June 11, 2003 when I used to work at a Target Warehouse, once a year they had a music & movies sale which was usually stuff that was overstocked at stores. I paid $5 for The Stanley Kubrick Collection.

Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 11, 2003 No problem. I remember being in such awe myself the first time I checked out the site and the forum. There was so much to check out, I didn't think I'd ever leave the place. That's the place to go with any and all DVD's questions or talk.
Guest Addy Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I've been registered at that forum for about a month now. They're all crazy! Some guy there has nearly 6,000 DVD's!

Guest notJames Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Apart from Ebay, Amazon, and other Internet-based conveyances, the best deals I've found are at BJ's, a wholesale warehouse-type store like CostCo. DVDs run a good 10-15% off SRP and sometimes even more. Of course, you have to sign up for their membership and pay a yearly fee, but it more than pays for itself when you're buying diapers by the metric ton and such. I'm currently hording pennies so I can buy Secretary for $16.99.
