Guest Evolution Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Fade in from commercials. Axis: "King, this next matchup on our card tonight is a match that both men have been looking forward to for quite some time." King: "And I think some of our fans have been waiting for it as well. But finally, tonight, Charlie Matthews and John Duran will go at it, one-on-one in that very ring for the European Title!" Axis: "Duran has not been able to beat Matthews in their last two meetings, the first which was at Bringin' The Funk in a Fatal Four Way matchup that allowed Charlie to capture the TV Title from Duran! The tables have turned now, and John is the challenger, facing the champion in Matthews. It's time to find out if Duran can turn around his bad luck against the 'Grappler' tonight, or if Matthews will continue his hot streak!" We go over to Funyon, who is already in the ring and ready to give out the introductions for this match. Funyon: "Ladies and gentlemen, this match is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the S-J-L EUROPEAN TITLEEEEEEEEEEE!" The crowd cheers for a moment before "Sinner" by Drowning Pool kicks in. The cheers quickly turn into boos as John Duran makes his entrance into the Gund Arena, looking focused and as ready as he'll ever be. Funyon: "Introducing first, the challenger, from Champaign, Illinois, weighing in at two hundred and sixty-five pounds, he is THE SINNER, JOHN DURANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!" Duran begins to make his way down to the ring, passing by fans as they give him the middle finger, not about to be shaken on what is likely the biggest day of his career. He knows it is a big day for Charlie Matthews as well, making him more intently focused to bring the "Grappler" down as ever. John steps up onto the apron and enters the ring, simply walking over to the right turnbuckle opposite the entranceway, waiting for Matthews. Suddenly, the lights dim, and the crowd begins to cheer! However, the silence under that cheer is suddenly broken: "You put your hand on your head, you put your foot in the air..." King: "Excellent choice of music by our production team! Bahahahahahaha!" The "Wilbury Twist" by the Traveling Wilburies continues, the crowd laughing as Charlie Matthews makes his entrance. Charlie looks bewildered and confused at what is transpiring, as he slowly makes his way down towards the ring. Funyon: "And his opponent, hailing from Kansas City, Missouri and weighing in at two hundred and ninety-nine pounds, he is THE GRAPPLER, CHARLIE MATTHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWS!" Charlie continues down towards the ring, red with embarrassment, as the Wilbury Twist carries on, blaring throughout the Gund Arena. Suddenly, Duran runs over and slides out of the ring. John charges up the ramp, as some of the crowd members stand up in surprise. Axis: "What is John doing this time?" King: "I don't think he wants to wait for Matthews to get into the ring!" Duran meats up with Charlie halfway down the aisle, but Matthews notices John easily and tries to clock him with a right hand. John blocks the right hand, however, unloading a right hand of his own. John begins to unleash a flurry of right hands to Matthews as Matthew Kivell, the referee, remains in the ring, yelling at the two combatants to get in the ring. John, with a determined look, grabs Matthews and brings him towards the ring. The crowd is already booing as Duran tosses Charlie into the ring and slides into the ring after him, Matthew Kivell finally going to call for the bell. *DING DING DING* Axis: "That risky move paid off for Duran, as he already has an early advantage in this match! He's fortunate that Kivell didn't disqualify him right from the get go for that sneak attack!" King: "I don't think Kivell would do such a thing, I believe that he knows these two want to fight. Not only that, he knows the crowd wants to see them fight." John brings Charlie to his feet, giving him a couple of right hands. Duran grabs Matthews head, leaning back slightly before coming right back around and slamming his head into the "Grappler"'s, the wicked headbutt stunning Charlie shortly, as Duran runs into the side ropes. As he comes back, "The Sinner" extends an arm. John can't knock Charlie down with the clothesline, however, as Matthews only staggers back slightly, remaining upright. Duran goes to bounce right back into ropes, coming back and hitting a second clothesline. Charlie doesn't go down, however, staggering once again but not falling to the mat. Axis: "Duran needs to be careful here, I don't think he wants to go to the well to many times!" John bounces off the ropes and goes for a third clothesline, but Matthews snaps to life and tries to clothesline "The Sinner"! Duran ducks that attempt, however, going behind Charlie as Charlie tries to spin around as quickly as possible to keep his eye on John. However, John is waiting as Matthews turns around, delivering a boot to the gut of the "Grappler"! Duran turns around, grasping Charlie's head and placing it on his shoulder before dropping down, taking Matthews down with a reverse neckbreaker! Axis: "Quick thinking on the part of Duran to not let Matthews get a counterattack in, as John seems to be in control of this match early on!" King: "I have to say, I think I'm pulling for Duran in this match! I just can't stand to root for somebody who turned their back for the support of the fans. Poor, poor James Matheson." Duran takes a position behind Matthews, waiting for him to rise to his feet. Once Charlie does, John takes the advantage. "The Sinner" runs over; clotheslining Charlie in the back of the head and sending the "Grappler" down to the mat, face down. Axis: "Well, I guess the fourth time is a charm as far as Duran is concerned. At least he finally hit the clothesline, though!" Taking advantage of Matthews prone position, John puts a foot on either side of Charlie, facing away from him and leaning down, grabbing the powerful legs of the "Grappler" and pulling back, tucking them underneath his arms as Duran leans back, putting pressure onto the back of Matthews as the crowd begins to boo. King: "I think I might have an idea of what John is up to here." Axis: "What's that, King?" King: "I think he's going after the back of Matthews, trying to weaken it up, because if Charlie can't lift anybody due to his bad back, he certainly won't be able to hit the Foreign Star Bomb! Isn't that a great plan?" Axis: "It sure is, but we'll have to keep watching so we can figure out whether or not the 'Grappler' will have a plan to counter it!" Duran begins to lean back in the Boston Crab, as Matthews slightly squirms around in pain, John trying to get as much elevation on the move as possible, seemingly wanting to break the European Champion in half. Matthews begins to inch slightly towards the ropes, but "The Sinner" has enough weight on his body to keep him from moving very far. Axis: "Is Matthews in danger of losing this early in the match? Is this where is reign ends, right here?" Matthews gets a sudden burst of energy, getting within three feet of the ropes as the fans cheer. Duran tries to bring Charlie back into the center of the ring, but Matthews resists this move, reaching out. Matthews tries desperately to get his arm on the rope, to break the hold, but falls short with every attempt that he makes. John pulls back again; adding to the pressure, as Matthews grimaces is pain, inching closer still. Charlie lashes out an arm, and brings it down on the bottom rope as the crowd lets out a small pop of cheers for Matthews. King: "Damn, how did he break that hold? It seemed like Duran had this match won already!" Axis: "Charlie Matthews isn't going to go down without a fight, and you can bank on that." As soon as Matthews puts his arm on the bottom rope, Kivell goes over to Duran, applying the five count to make John release the Boston Crab. "The Sinner" takes his sweet time in breaking the hold, waiting until the count of four. Finally, John releases the hold, as the "Grappler" immediately tends to his back on the mat. Matthews isn't given much time to recover, as Duran goes to bring the European Champion to his feet. John grabs the "Grappler" by his left arm, going to throw him into the ropes. Charlie reverses the momentum, but instead of throwing Duran into the ropes, Matthews holds on to John's left, arm, bringing him back around before giving him a clothesline that sends the challenger to the mat. Axis: "See, this is what I like about Matthews. He can change the momentum of any match in the blink of an eye. That is what likely makes him great!" King: "What makes Duran great is that he's better than Matthews!" With John out on the mat, Charlie goes over to Duran's legs, grabbing the left one and looking at the crowd, who cheer in response. Quickly, Matthews cocks his elbow and falls to the side, stretching out Duran's groin in a painful moment, but more importantly, nailing the left leg with a sharp elbow from the "Grappler". Duran immediately shows signs of pain that still linger within his left leg, wincing and contorting his face into obvious pain. Axis: "Well, there's Matthews game plan, and it is no real surprise that he's taken this method in this matchup!" King: "That's almost a cheap shot going after a man's leg once it's already been worked on about five days ago, though! What every happened to Matthews' sense of honor! I tell you, the fans have corrupted him, Axis, they've turned him into an entirely new beast." Axis: "Oh, just give it a rest, King, he made the right decision." Matthews gets back up to his feet as Duran rolls back and forth, the pain starting to return to his left leg. Charlie bends down, hesitating for a moment, as a sharp pain seems to run through his back. Matthews shakes it off, and brings Duran to his feet. The "Grappler" goes behind Duran, placing his head under John's right arm and grasping John's tights with one hand, while grabbing one of Duran's legs with his other hand. Matthews lifts Duran up towards the air, putting him parallel with the mat before bringing him right back down, Charlie hitting one knee as Duran's tailbone is driven into Matthews' knee. The crowd cheers, as John immediately pops up from Charlie's knee, holding his tailbone in pain, but also acknowledging the pain in his leg. Axis: "The challenger is in a world of hurt right now, he's going to need to mount a comeback, and quick if he wants to win this match!" King: "Don't worry about it, he's still got some tricks up his sleeve." Axis: "I don't think any of those tricks will work if he doesn't have a left leg to stand on, King." John moves back towards the "Grappler," and Matthews lashes out, clotheslining Duran to the mat and immediately going for the cover. Matthew Kivell swings around to count the first pinfall of the match. ONE... T-KICKOUT! Axis: "Barely a two count there from Charlie Matthews, as the match continues!" King: "Maybe Matthews should realize that simply working on the leg of Duran isn't going to solve everything. Charlie still needs to get John down for the three count, and if he can't do that, then you can bet John will." Axis: "That's for sure, John will stop at nothing to put Charlie on the mat and end this match, and getting revenge for the past two times these two hosses have met! But Duran is going to have to turn the tables soon if he wants to get Matthews down for the 1-2-3." Duran is still on the mat as Matthews once again moves to John's left leg. Charlie strikes quickly, wrapping his legs around the leg and applying pressure to it, leaning back as "The Sinner" squirms around in pain, slamming his arms down on the mat. The crowd cheers and begins a chant that rises in volume as the submission continues. YOU'VE GOTTA TAP! YOU'VE GOTTA TAP! YOU'VE GOTTA TAP! Kivell asks Duran if he wants to tap, but John shakes it off profusely, trying to inch towards the ropes closest to him, those ropes being the ones closest to the entryway. Matthews can't do much to drag John back into the ring, so Charlie just holds on for dear life, hoping that the ever-increasing pressure will force Duran to tap. The crowd cheers in anticipation, sensing that "The Sinner" is about to tap as well. Duran grits his teeth, reaching out in desperation and latching onto the bottom rope as the crowd lets out a collective groan. Axis: "Oh man, Duran really lucked out there. If he would've been in the center of the ring, there would've been no doubt that he would've gone down to the 'Grappler'!" King: "But he's still hanging on. Both men are holding on for what they've got, they both want this win!" Matthews doesn't waste time with the five count, instead releasing the hold regretfully as soon as John's hand reaches the bottom rope. Charlie gets to his feet, bending down once again to bring Duran to his feet. John struggles with Matthews a bit, "The Sinner" acting quickly and bringing his right hand up, giving the "Grappler" a shot to his "sweets." Matthews is immediately doubled over as seemingly everyone in the arena saw it but Matthew Kivell, who is unsure of what just transpired. John rises up from one knee, getting to his feet and putting Charlie in a front facelock before dropping him down onto the mat with a DDT, spiking the "Grappler" into the mat. Axis: "I'm sure Duran already knows this, but for those of you at home who might not know, that DDT can put unheard pressure on the spine of the victim! Compacting the spine like that is sure to cause some back problems for Matthews." King: "This is the chance for Duran to take, he caught Charlie off guard, now he has to go for the gold!" As if taking a cue, John rolls Matthews over onto his back as John lays his body across Matthews', hooking the leg as Kivell falls to the mat to count Duran's first pinfall in the match. ONE... TW-KICKOUT~! The fans cheer as the "Grappler" manages to kick out before the count of two, and more importantly, the count of three. Duran isn't finished, as he immediately gets to his feet, gritting his teeth through the pain flowing through his left leg, bending down to bring Matthews to his feet. Axis: "It's hard to imagine the pain that John Duran and Charlie Matthews must be feeling in that ring right now. Both of these men must be sensing that the action is about to pick up, but I don't know if their bodies agree that it should." King: "Let them wrestle, if they kill each other, at least it's doing what they love." "The Sinner" pushes Matthews to the turnbuckle placed to the right of the entryway, before grabbing Charlie's left arm, whipping him out of the turnbuckle. Duran whips Matthews so hard, he falls down, the crowd gasping in surprise at the oomph he puts into the Irish whip, as the "Grappler" hits the turnbuckle hard. Charlie stumbles out of the corner, immediately attending to his back as it is smashed into the unforgiving SJL turnbuckles. John gets to his feet after that monstrous whip, hobbling towards the center of the ring. John lets Matthews stumble right into him, wrapping his arms around the "Grappler," bending down and lifting him up before driving him right back down with a spinebuster, the crowd booing their disapproval. King: "OUCH! Whatta spinebuster from Duran!" Axis: "They might still be feeling that one in Canton!" Duran pops right back up to his feet, seeming to have the adrenaline flowing through his body, countering any feelings of pain that may still be in his left leg. "The Sinner" crouches down, waiting for Charlie to get to his feet, the crowd letting out a continuous stream of boos. Axis: "Matthews might want to get out of that corner, because if he's speared into that turnbuckle again, there's no telling what damage it'll do to his back!" King: "Don't move, Charlie! Take it like a man! Like a MANNNNNN!" Charlie slowly begins to get to his feet, holding his back in pain as he begins to turn around. John charges, and Matthews notices that Duran is going for the spear, running towards John to attempt some kind of counter. However, Duran is the one who gets the first hit, nailing the spear and driving his shoulder into the gut of the "Grappler," sending them both down to the mat, very close to the turnbuckle that Matthews just barged out of. Axis: "Good lord, what a vicious spear from Duran! Matthews is going to have to turn up the intensity to match John if he wants to stay *alive* in this match!" King: "Look at Duran go! Whoo boy, Charlie's death is tonight!" Duran goes to get off of Charlie after spearing the hell out of him, but finds that he's trapped: Matthews has wrapped his legs around "The Sinner" and put him in a body scissors. Axis: "WHAT?! The 'Grappler' has a body scissors locked on! How is he doing this!" King: "Big props to Matthews here for recognizing that he can counter the spear just as easily as doing that, but you have to wonder how long he could hang on to that!" Matthews locks the body scissors on as tight as possible, but Duran simply has too much resolve at this point in the match to go down that easily. John struggles, quickly latching on to the bottom rope once again, the crowd groaning and moaning in disgust as Charlie is forced to break the hold. "The Sinner" gets to his feet, still slightly limping on his left leg, but able to bring Charlie back to his feet once again. Duran wraps his arms around Matthews' waist and suddenly lifts him, holding the "Grappler" in the air as the crowd begins to boo, though slightly shocked. Axis: "Is Duran using a bearhug on Matthews? That's Charlie's move!" King: "Does it have his name on it? No. Shut your mouth, Axis." John locks the bearhug in, the ultimate disgrace to the "Grappler" as his back is worked on with the pressure of Duran's grip. Charlie tries to fight it off, slamming forearms into the side of Duran's head, the crowd cringing as John takes shot after shot to the head. King: "Charlie is clubbing the hell out of Duran to break that bearhug! Those huge forearms crashing into your temples HAVE to hurt!" Axis: "Duran might want to think about breaking the move before he ends up with a permanent headache..." Duran refuses to let go, however, and despite Kivell's several requests, the "Grappler" refuses to give up. John locks the move on tighter, as Charlie seems to seep deeper and deeper into unconsciousness. The crowd gets behind Matthews, chanting "Grappler! Grappler!", Duran looking around at the crowd and telling them to shut up. Suddenly, Charlie seems to snap to life, the crowd cheering as he begins unloading forearms to the side of Duran's head once again, the crowd cringing as each forearm smashes into Duran's temple. Finally, John releases the bearhug, as the crowd cheers. "The Sinner" has to back away for a moment to clear his head after it was jarred several times over, allowing Matthews to recover. Still feeling his tender back, Charlie approaches Duran, grabbing his right arm and sending him into the ropes. Duran reverses the whip, however, hanging on to Charlie's arm and whipping *him* into the ropes. King: "Round and around we go..." Charlie comes off the ropes, as Duran attempts to nail Matthews in the face with his forearm, but the "Grappler" ducks the forearm smash and goes to the opposite ropes nearest the entranceway. Duran delays for a moment before turning around, that delay just enough time for Matthews to get the advantage, kicking Duran in the gut and then clubbing him in the back, sending Duran face first into the mat, the crowd cheering and hoping that Charlie can wrap the match up right here. Axis: "I think Charlie is going to be looking for some sweet, sweet revenge here against Duran for stealing his move." King: "Better than stealing music. We love you, Metallica!" Matthews bends down and starts to flip over, but once again has to tend to his back. Axis: "There goes Matthews' back, once again...how much longer can it hold up?" Charlie fights through it, putting Duran onto his back and grabbing John's legs, holding them tight. King: "What is Charlie up to now?" Charlie starts to spin around, as Duran is dragged around the mat, the crowd cheering and some actually laughing as Matthews begins to gain speed. Axis: "GIANT~!" King: "SWING~!" The "Grappler" spins around and around, as Duran actually lifts off the ground, spinning around until Matthews finally lets go. Duran goes sliding over into a corner, the crowd cheering as "Grappler" stumbles around slightly, hitting a knee as he attempts to regain his equilibrium. Once he does, Matthews immediately goes over to John, bringing him to his feet. Dragging him out of the corner, Charlie bends John over and then brings up a knee, the connection between knee and face a loud SMACK as Duran is right back down on the mat. The crowd cringes and cheers almost simultaneously at this site, as Charlie immediately tries for the cover, Kivell swinging around to count. ONE... TWO... THR-KICKOUT! The crowd groans as Duran finds a way to kick out, prolonging the match even further. Matthews is slow to get to his feet due to his back problems, but once again gets around it, picking Duran up once again. As he brings John upright and wraps his arms around the waist of "The Sinner," the crowd begins to cheer at what they expect to come next. Axis: "He's going to go for the--" King: "BEARHUG~!" The crowd cheers as Charlie lifts Duran in the air, locking on the bearhug. Duran immediately finds himself in pain from the strong arms of Matthews, but he refuses to give up when Kivell asks him. Suddenly, Charlie falls backwards, some of the members of the crowd standing up as Duran's weight pushes Matthews down to the mat! King: "What's going on?" Axis: "I think Matthews' back couldn't stand the pain!" Duran instinctively hooks the leg, pinning Charlie as the crowd suddenly explodes with boos, Kivell crouching down to make the count. ONE... TWO... THR-NO! MATTHEWS KICKS OUT! MATTHEWS KICKS OUT! The crowd's boos suddenly turn to uproarious cheers as the "Grappler" digs down deep, kicking out after such a near fall. Axis: "This is nuts, King! Both men have come close on two occasions! I have to believe that the next big move to hit will be the end for one of these two!" King: "Come on, Duran, don't let me down!" John gets to his feet and brings Matthews with him, standing the "Grappler" upright before quickly putting him in a front facelock. Duran tosses Charlie's right arm over his shoulder, trying for a vertical suplex, but Matthews blocks it by sticking a leg in between Duran's legs. Duran elbows Matthews in the back, trying it again, pulling up Charlie by his tights and lifting him up perpendicular to the mat before bringing him back down with a picture perfect vertical suplex. Axis: "Duran continues to work on the back by just doing regular moves that any normal wrestler would do! Just shows that the back is a common theme in wrestling matches, you know?" King: "Telling you to shut the hell up should be a national pastime, Axis." Duran gets to his feet, the adrenaline beginning to run out of his body and the limp returning to his left leg, John beginning to have to wince through the pain as he runs to the ropes. He bounces off and extends his right leg, dropping it across the throat of Matthews. Duran crawls over the "Grappler" and goes for the cover, Kivell swinging around as the crowd boos. ONE... TWO... THR-NO! KICKOUT! AGAIN! King: "Matthews just won't STAY DOWN!" Duran seems to be highly frustrated, having a few choice words for the ref, before signaling to the crowd that the end is near. Axis: "Uh-oh, it might be time for Grappler to feel the Break Point, he's going to have to act quickly to avoid this..." John brings the "Grappler" to his feet, before going behind him and locking his arms behind his head. The crowd boos as Duran goes to lift up Matthews...but he can't! Charlie moves up slightly, but comes right back down, the force of the drop breaking the Full Nelson and allowing Charlie to grab John and snapmare him over his shoulder! The crowd suddenly explodes in cheers as the tables are turned once again, this time in the favor of Matthews! Axis: "When is this roller coaster ride going to end for either of these men?" Duran is sitting up on the canvas as Charlie brings him to his feet, as Matthews moves to John's left side, reaching around the challenger and lifting him up before dropping him down on the champion's knee, Duran's back driving into Charlie's knee. King: "Shouldn't Matthews be focusing on the leg?" Axis: "I just think he wants to get this match over with!" After the backbreaker, Matthews keeps Duran on his feet, staying behind "The Sinner." Placing his head under Duran's left arm and holding on to Duran with his right hand, Matthews lifts Duran up into the air before simply dropping Duran on his head. Axis: "OUCH! Judgment Slam from Matthews, that has to be all she wrote!" Matthews immediately goes for the cover on Duran, hooking the leg as Kivell swings around to count the pinfall. ONE... TWO... THR-NO! KICKOUT! The crowd lets out a collective groan once again as Duran kicks out, Matthews having come so close to winning on several occasions now. Charlie gets to his feet and calls for the Foreign Star Bomb as the crowd rises to their feet, cheering. Axis: "YES! It looks like we're about to see the Foreign Star Bomb, folks!" King: "NO, IT CAN'T HAPPEN THIS WAY!" Matthews is still feeling the pain in his back as he brings Duran back to his feet, shaking it off as best as he can as Charlie puts Duran in a standing headscissors, the entire capacity of the Gund Arena seeming to be on their feet as they wait for it. Matthews bends down and wraps his arms around the waist of the challenger, preparing for the big lift. Matthews goes for it...but fails. Matthews immediately feels the pain in the back as he tries to lift all two hundred and sixty-five pounds of Duran, unable to do it in the state his back is in, as the crowd suddenly falls dead silent, Matthews unable to deliver the Foreign Star Bomb. Duran manages to escape from the grasp of Matthews, and, seeing that Charlie is doubled over, puts the "Grappler" himself in a standing headscissors! King: "YES! ULTIMATE SIN!" Axis: "What is going on here tonight?" Duran leans down, wrapping his arms around the waist of the "Grappler" and attempting to lift, but finding his attempt. The crowd cheers as Matthews lifts Duran up and over his shoulders and to the canvas with a back body drop. Matthews grunts in pain as he performs the move, his back still not feeling up to par. Axis: "Both of these men are in pain, and yet neither one is willing to let the other hit their finisher! These two guys are showing heart tonight!" King: "But Duran has to come out on top, he HAS to!" Matthews goes over to the fallen Duran, grasping him by his hair and bringing him to his feet, having Duran face the commentary booth as Matthews faces the SmarkTron, stepping behind Duran's left leg and draping his left arm across John's neck, going for the STO. Axis: "If he hits this move, Duran's going to be hurting..." Before the "Grappler" can get a chance to hit the move, Duran cocks back an elbow and slams it into the back of Matthews head, getting him to release the hold. Duran steps in front of Charlie, grasping his arms around the waist and lifting Matthews as high as he can before turning ninety degrees and dropping him to the mat with a quick belly-to-belly suplex that gets the crowd booing and giving Duran the middle finger. Duran gets up again, signaling for the end, frustrated with all of these near falls and near misses with his finisher. King: "His frustrations are coming to a peak, Axis, and I've got a feeling the 'Grappler' will be feeling his wrath!" Axis: "Matthews still has to have something inside of him, something to drive him to get out of this. He's come close to beating Duran for a third time so many times in this match, I just can't imagine it could be over." Instead of going for a standing headscissors or a Full Nelson, Duran surprises the crowd by going behind Matthews and bending down, sticking his head under Charlie's left arm. Axis: "Wait...could this be..." King: "BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA~!" Axis: "How will his legs stand up against all the pressure of Matthews' weight? I don't think this is happening, just like two shows ago. We all remember how Duran's back gave out that night." Duran lifts Matthews onto his shoulders, Matthews staring towards the lights as the crowd rises to their feet. Duran has an intense look in his eyes, gritting his teeth through all the pain in his left leg, likely increasing under the even more intense force of Matthews weight pushing down on it. However, "The Sinner" manages to swing Matthews' legs off his right shoulder, his body coming to a stop 90 degrees later as Duran drops down, hitting his tailbone against the mat and bringing the head of the "Grappler" crashing against his shoulder blade. The crowd lets out a pop for the devastating move, but then turns to the boos. Axis: "MY GOD, HE HIT IT!" King: "YES!" Duran turns around, seeing Matthews on the mat, and rolls over onto him, absolutely exhausted, and hooking the leg. Kivell swings around to count the pinfall as the crowd seems unable to stop booing. ONE... TWO... THREE! The crowd explodes into boos, disappointed that Matthews couldn't kick out, as Duran rolls off Charlie. King: "It's over! The monkey is off John's back!" Funyon: "Here is your winner...and NEW SJL EUROPEAN CHAMPION..."THE SINNER" JOHN DURANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!" Many fans give this the thumbs down as Kivell gets the belt from Funyon, handing it to Duran as he raises it in the air in celebration. Duran limps over to the ropes closest to the entranceway, getting down to his stomach and rolling out with the European title. Duran moves up the entrance ramp, fans continuing to give him the middle finger and telling him that he sucks. John continues to slowly limp, holding his title in the air as he turns around and gives the crowd the middle finger in response. Axis: "Well, after two tries, John Duran has finally done it! We've got a new European champion, and he did it fair and square, for a change!" King: "Finally, he can say that he has a win against the 'Grappler'! That's what you get for selling out to the fans, punk!" Axis: "Congratulations to John Duran, but the next match should definitely be a doozy." King: "I think the word you're looking for is 'snorefest,' Axis." Axis: "Whichever way you want to put it, it's Spike and Manson in our main event, it's an inferno match, and it's next, LIVE on Metal!"
Guest The Superstar Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Like I said in chat, I thought this was a great match, especially the "What will it take" aura around it. Great ending, and hey, I can't wait for Freakin/Big Cunt II.
