Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Isn't it kind of funny that TNN, a network that used to be about as redneck as you can get, tries to change its image a bit (because apparently people still associate TNN with rednecks..gee I wonder why..) and gets sued by Spike Lee. I wonder why the Group TLC never sued TLC the channel..
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I have been hearing and reading about this for weeks now. Here is the point: WHO GIVES A SHIT!!!!!
Guest Dmann2000 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Just call it WhiteBoyTV, Spike won't touch it then
Guest Ghettoman Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 It's sad to know anything 'aggresive' and 'irreverant' will be associated with a small black man with a bad case of egomania. Lets just hope this gets thrown out higher up and Spike has to chalk up 7 figures to TNN.
Guest notJames Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I think Amanda Stepto should sue as well, as it was her character "Spike" on Degrassi may have also inspired TNN in its name change as well as her "reputation for irreverence and aggressiveness"... she was a teenage mom. I actually liked her lesbian friend Liz, whom I'm sure had an unrequited crush on Spike, but couldn't reveal it because of the big Irish goof with the Pogues t-shirt whose name I can't recall. It's probably the Chelsea haircut that did it for me.
Rob E Dangerously Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 so, will the WWE reply by changing Spike Dudley's name to "Dudley" due to an 'injunction' or something bitter like the RTC
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 so, will the WWE reply by changing Spike Dudley's name to "Dudley" due to an 'injunction' or something bitter like the RTC They'll put him in blackface, have him join Long, and shoot footage of him mouthing off like a prick at basketball games.
Guest Razor Roman Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 eh.. just call it Smash TV and continue along as planned.
Guest Shanghai Kid Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Actually Spike Lee is brilliant. One of the most genius directors of all time.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 And with an absurdly inflated ego.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 well, women have Oxygen, so why don't the guys have... Adrenaline Television (ATV)
Guest MentallyNormal Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 well, women have Oxygen, so why don't the guys have... Adrenaline Television (ATV) But then the makers of the ATV will sue! When I first heard of SpikeTv I thought of volleyball, not Spike Lee. Now him suing just makes him look like an idiot. I like some of his movies though. Woody Allen should sue Spike Lee for trying to look like him.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 well, women have Oxygen, so why don't the guys have... Adrenaline Television (ATV) Because who gets an adrenaline rush from WWE programming?
Guest BaldFish Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 They're going to have to change the network to Spikf TV. It's the counterpoint of what happened in the whole WWF => WWE thing. F's become E's and E's become F's.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 They're going to have to change the network to Spikf TV. It's the counterpoint of what happened in the whole WWF => WWE thing. F's become E's and E's become F's. Brilliant! In a related story, following the actions of Spike Lee; the estate of Dino Bravo, the remaining members of TLC, Vicente Fox, the estate of tri-nitroglycerine creator Alfred Nobel, German band Trio, and the United States of America have all sued their respective television channels and networks for illegal usage of their respective names.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 well, women have Oxygen, so why don't the guys have... Adrenaline Television (ATV) Because who gets an adrenaline rush from WWE programming? Testosterone TV?
Guest KJ Brackish Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Adrenaline Television (ATV) Because who gets an adrenaline rush from WWE programming? Testosterone TV? Ya know, when I heard adrenaline rush, I immediately thought of Testosterone T.V. but I guess you beat me to it. Its officially unanamous! Testosterone T.V. it is! But that brings up another question, where's Estrogen Station? DFA
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 TNN's request to put off this injunction until after 6/16 has been denied. As a result, they have pulled all commercials for Spike TV and changed their website back to ads for TNN. Except for in one minor place, there is no mention of 'Spike TV' on either the TNN network or at their website. They will go ahead with the new lineup of cartoons/etc. on 6/16 though, just under the banner of TNN.
Guest JMA Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 I expect an angle involving Theodore Long in relation to this. Just wait. Linda McMahon was even on Faux News today (in was on a TV in Books-A-Million).
