Has anyone here ordered a Schneider comp

Recommended Posts

Guest Dangerous A

I was breezing through the deathvalleydriver site the other day and checked out Phil Schneider's comp tape section. The tapes seem very interesting in that they are a mix of old and new stuff as well as a variety of different promotions.

What I was wondering was if anyone here has ordered any of these comp tapes and if so, which ones are recommended? Maybe someone here has had a good or bad experience dealing with Phil. Any help would be great. Here is the link to his comp tape site.

Actually, I've read those reviews and that's what sparked my curiosity about the tapes. I was just wondering about the other 20 tapes Phil is offering and if those are worth it or not.

I order #13 and #16. I would say they are worth it for the most part. The quality can be iffy at times and he tends to throw some oddball shit on them that I don't think belongs but there is more than enough good shit to make up for it.

I would say pick up one or two and make your own opinion rather than buying a bunch at one time.

My experience:

The video/audio quality was poor but still watchable. However there's always a lot of great stuff on the tapes from all over the place so overall I say it's worth it. Also, my tapes took quite a while to get to me.

I ordered comps 4, 6 and 8 from him. It took quite a while, since the post office goofed and sent the package back to him, but then he sent it priority, at his own expense, which was really solid of him.

As faar as the tapes go, I've like 5 out of 6 of the matches on the weakest tape in my estimation (#8) and the video quality's pretty damn good for an 8 hour tape.

So I'd reccomend it if you're interested in different types of wrestling. I've seen quite a bit of NJ jrs. and AJPW< and there's quite a few good matches in those styles present,. but you also have lucha, joshi, US indy stuff.

He has only one match that I don't have that I want, and it's the 30-minute Benoit/Malenko v Jericho/Guerrero match from the Brian Hildebrand Tribute show in 1999. Does anyone else have that match besides Schneider?

Phil is slow as all get out (three times with me he's had to resend tapes for one reason or another), and his quality isn't always all that fantastic. I think in that review that was posted one of the matches is labelled "unwatchable".

On the other hand, it's usually a pretty good collection of wrestling on one tape. The pros and cons sort of balance out, in the end.
