Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Byrd is a chickenshit that fights like a pussy. I can't stand that googly-eyed fuck, and want to see him get bitten by Mike Tyson. I won't watch a fight between him and Lewis, because it will be a 12 round tappy-tap jabfest with Byrd playing hide and seek, losing a decision, then whining about it. He's the biggest puss in boxing and is afraid to take a punch. When one connects, he drops. Take his fight with Wladimir Klitschko, where Wlad beat his ass the whole fight and knocked him down twice. Speaking of him, he was recently KOed by Corrie Sanders, to fill in the blank. Byrd's a terrible person to fight, but he crumbles when there's simply too much pressure. Old farts and counterpunchers have trouble with him (which is why Lewis ducks him), but someone big and strong usually has no trouble mauling him, like both Klitschko bros. (Which makes me wonder why Lewis ducks Byrd, on the other hand.) Anyway, next up for Lewis has to be the Vitaly rematch, which I personally think he'll win, then onto Wlad, a chump or two, and maybe the money fight against Jones, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Also, to those that question Lewis' ability to draw fans as champ, there were 12,000 fans there to see him take on a guy on 2 weeks notice... Taking nothing away from V. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I like Chris Byrd ever since his days on USA’s Tuesday Night Fights. His style is a lot like Roy Jones except he’s a heavyweight. I think he knows he can’t knock all these heavyweights out so he does what he can to win fights, meaning he racks up the points and avoids being hit. If Lewis is out of shape like on Saturday, then Byrd has a shot at winning the bout if he can take a few power punches and avoid the jab. Howard Stern just played the post fight news conference with Lewis and Byrd challenging him ala Rocky 3. They could be promoting the next fight already. Personally, I think he wouldn't get chewed up by the fans if he fought Roy Jones next because: 1. that was his plan all along 2. It's Roy Jones But if he fights some scrub (or Byrd) than people will be pissed. In my opinion after the rematch and the Jones match, he may as well retire unless a new face emerges. That said, I wouldn't be completely shocked to see him take the money fight in Jones and split with the belts afterwards, but he really..really owes Klitschko a rematch. If he went for the money (and I wouldn't blame him...chastise him, yeah...but not BLAME him) then his claim to be the "best heavy-weight of this generation" would be tarnished. If he goes for his legacy he faces the chance of losing to Vitali (which I am still harping would happen...SMARKS #1 Klitchko mark who doesn't take the time to spell the name correctly!!) he might take a beating and give Roy More of a chance in the fight. BY THE WAY...am I the ONLY one that feels Roy Jones Jr. in NO WAY would win that fight. I mean, he'd have to get inside, Lewis has too much power and reach...Its just NO WAY. Only George Foreman and Jersey Joe Walcott stayed effective at that age. Jones has never even been in serious trouble in a fight. He's probably one of the best boxers ever. I think you mean Vitali...........Wlad is the younger brother. Oh and I would accept that opinion, but I don't honestly believe Vitali is of the same shit-ocracy as a 40 year old Oliver McCall, or a lucky bum like Hasim Rahman. I would still probably favor Lewis(barely), but then again who knows, he could be 38 by the time a rematch happens, and like Max Kellerman said, his 38 year old self may not be equipped to conjure up that young, hungry Lennox Lewis. If anyone saw the Ruiz/Jones fight, that just shows that Roy Jones wants no business inside trading with a heavyweight. He will stick n move for 12 rounds, while Lewis chases him looking for one huge right hook. If Lennox can't stick Jones with one right hook in 10-12 rounds, he doesn't deserve to win.
