Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 16, 2003 What's a good site to translate English words to Japanese, and vice versa? Might not relate to puro that much, but I can only find ones that translate English to Japanese characters, and I'm looking for, like, the actual word written out. Any help is appreciated in advanced.
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Report post Posted June 16, 2003 It'll take some time to get used to the horrible sentence structure and there is some problems with it translating proper names like "Kobashi" rather than leaving it as "Kobashi", but http://babelfish.altavista.com/ is alright. There is a better page translator out there, but I think I lost the link to it.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I just get empty blocks...do I need to modify something on my browser?
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Where do you get the blocks? On the site I linked or on a japanese site? Tell me exactly what you are trying to do and I'll see if I get the same problem.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Babelfish, which is why I tried to avoid it. When I translate it, I get "???:" and then blocks in the spaces where the translation should be.
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Report post Posted June 17, 2003 What page are you trying to translate? When I select Japanese to English and translate "http://www.njpw.co.jp/index1.html", it works fairly well. For example, under topics, it changes from Japanese characters to "New arrival information Press conference TOPICS Series information Card information Tournament result Player profile Ticket information Goods information Annual schedule chart Fan club " If you go to the page without babelfish, do you see Japanese symbols or nonsense? Maybe installing the japanese language plug-in will help?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 No, I'm trying to translate English phrases into Japanese. I remember there used to be a site that could do it, but I can't find the site anywhere.
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Report post Posted June 18, 2003 Ah, in that case, you probably just need to install the japanese language support thing that'll let your browser read Japanese characters. If you go to a Japanese website, you browser should ask you if you'd like to install it then it'll either download it or tell you to insert your windows CD. I've tried translating english to japanese in babelfish and it appears to work correctly, although I have no clue if the japanese characters that pop up are correct translations.
