Ah yes, how stupid many copyright laws are. The way I see it, once the "art" is purchased, my money is exchanged, and the receipt is either printed or saved digitally, everything about the one piece becomes mine. I should be able to sell it, copy it, etc. as I wish. Should I be able to SELL the burned copies? No. THAT is piracy. But giving them away? Who hasn't made a copy for somebody?

 

P2P users are the digital Robin Hoods, and the RIAA is the Sheriff.

Hush, you. I know I'd pay reasonable prices for songs. I'd happily pay $5 for 5 good songs, but I'm not going to pay $50 for 5 different CDs where I get 5 good songs and dozens of bad ones.

You can get those Music NOW CDs in like a few months and bands seem to popping out those best ofs faster and faster all the time.

I didn't say they were all on one artist. I want to choose what's on the disc.

 

Now before you chew me out again, recognize that the iTunes Music Store already does this, and it's due on Windows this year. Apple makes deals with the labels and sells the music, and yes, you can buy The One Good Track by itself for a small fee. And although you can't share them online, you can burn them on as many CDs as you like.

 

 

/THAT's/ what I want. Now, if Apple will only finish a Windows version.

Regardless of which, the "good songs" on a CD aren't always the ones that are released as "hit singles"

 

Personally, I download a few songs on a CD before I buy it; the prices are too outrageous to go out and buy one without knowing what you're getting.

Works for me. I just disagree with the "I want to be a rebel and get free stuff in the process" philosophy. As long as the people that own the copyright are cool with it, why should I object?
