Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Nope. Their only song that doesn't make me actively want to regurgitate is "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" Since it's just Cliff Burton being good. Therefore, that would give Kill 'em All the nod on a slight technicality.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Man, most regular Metallica fans would slaughter me if they heard me say this, but Kill 'Em All sucks. Anethesia and The Four Horsemen make it worthwhile, but everything else is pretty meh. I mean, nice riffs and everything, but it just doesn't do it for me. Guest netslob Report post Posted June 19, 2003 i'm sorry, but i have to say this...FUCK METALLICA. there i said it...i'm sorry, but the whole Napster thing really soured me what these douche bags for life...gee, Lars, i'm SOOOO sorry you couldn't afford the 7th story to your house...how DO you make ends meet? and it's no wonder these guys have such egos, thanks to the blind, rabid fanboy-ism they generate...hell, here in Rochester (NY), we got this modern rock radio station called the Nerve that plays "Mandatory Metallica", and after the song, EVERY SINGLE TIME, the DJ refers to them as "The Mighty Metallica". mighty, my fat white ass. and if that "St. Anger" song is any indication, the entire album must blow, cause that song sucks 100 different types of cock. there, i feel better after getting that off my chest. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 19, 2003 and if that "St. Anger" song is any indication, the entire album must blow Although, I'm not a Metallica fan in any sort... judging an album based off one single is ignorant. It's also being prejudice.

Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted June 19, 2003 If netslob likes regular Metallica, I can pretty much guarentee he won't like it anyway.
Guest netslob Report post Posted June 19, 2003 to be fair, i DO like SOME of their work, mostly the classics, "Enter Sandman", "Master of Puppets", "Enter Sandman", the one where they talk about the Soviets, oh, and of course, "Enter Sandman".
Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Ignore him. He's off to Never Never Land.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted June 19, 2003 It's "We the People," not "We The People." Stylistic licence. I felt it made a better contrast and made "we the people" into more of a title.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Tom...I think I'm disappointed. You said you got the CD for $10? Whatever happened to your principle of never buying another CD again?? I made an exception. Don't worry, it probably won't happen again for another three years or so. I still hate Lars, though, and still think he can go eat a dick. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Talking Metallica with Agent is like talking religion with a mallfuck (not that Agent is a mallfuck, mind you). And no, netslob has a right to say that the album sucks based on the single. Metallica has a history of releasing singles that tend to deliver the actual feel of the album. "One" was a good indication of how the songs on ...And Justice For All were, ditto for "Enter Sandman" and "The Unforgiven" on The Black Album, "Until It Sleeps" and "Hero Of The Day" on Load, etc.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Until it Sleeps..that's that other damn song on Load I was thinking of..not Fuel. A mallfuck? C'mon, it's not my fault that their last 4 albums have been as memorable as a bunch of Steve Miller Band b-sides.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted June 19, 2003 "Until It Sleeps" does kinda suck. But except for that and "Wasting My Hate," I've always liked Load. I think a lot of people saw the short hair and insta-hated the CD, but I sat down and listened to it, and thought it was quite good. Then again, I operate from the perspective of someone who likes the band.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted June 19, 2003 I may be in the minority, but I think Anesthesia is a piece of crap. Cliff is one hell of a bassist (see The Call Of Ktulu), but Anesthesia is just basic, boring stuff.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted June 19, 2003 *kills LPEMP dead* Agent can diss Metallica all he wants, he's still a cool guy 'cause he's seen Dr. Strangelove. I like "Waste My Hate". I actually like everything on that album. "Ronnie" took on a whole new level of importance to me after Columbine and "Mama Said", even if it does sound country western-ish, has a great lyrics and chords. And of course, "Outlaw Torn" owns you, your mother, and your pet hamster.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Yes, I agree that Outlaw Torn is the best "sellout" era Metallica song.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 off of Load, I didn't like Mama Said, i pratically found that this was the weakest song on the album. Oh and Anethesia kicks balls, especially when you try to jam with it.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Um...isn't kicking balls a bad thing? Oh, right, slang. Gotcha. Anyways. Personally, I like the CD. I devoutly hate Metallica. Yes, all of it, including Master of Puppets. Every last bit of them. But I REALLY like St. Anger. I dont know what it is about the CD that catches my fancy, but it's there. And I agree with anyone who says Invisible Kid sucks. Bleh. Hey, every CD has a lemon. It's just natural. But in all honesty, I enjoy the album. Got to watch the DVD once, and didnt get all the way through it before I had to go to the hospital and get my dad out. Havent checked out the Vault, and even if it is a good deal...well, I still hate old Metallica stuff. Yeah.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Load was a terrific album with a lot of really great songs on it. Hogwash! Aside from the black album, this is probably the worst thing they've ever produced. Shitpoprock tracks like Fuel, King Nothing, and Hero of the Day, mixed with lazy rock songs like Ain't my Bitch, mixed with turds in "branching out's" clothing like Mama Said. An absolutely unforgivably terrible recording completely devoid of a good track, good riff, or vocal part. Whatever. I love pretty much every song on Load. I can listen to it from start to finish and every song seems to cover a different aspect or style. It's like they were showing their variety. If it was released by any other band it wouldn't be bashed as much as it is. Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn are two incredible songs and are some of my favorites. Guest Name On A Screen Report post Posted June 19, 2003 I agree with most of you that Load is a great album (despite a few weaker tracks towards the end), and ranks among Metallica's best work. Good to see others sharing the Outlaw Torn love, great track. Though the fade out on the album version annoys me. The unecumbered version is better if you can find it anywhere out there. Yeah it sucks that the end is cut off. They actually ran out of time/space on the CD and had to cut off like 30 seconds of the end of Outlaw Torn.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Meh. Can we at least agree that Master of Puppets is their awesomest album? No. Because I like Ride The Lightning better. And I just bought Kill Em All the other day, and that's grown on me quite a bit as well.
Guest Nunzio Cardozo Report post Posted June 21, 2003 I bought Metallica's debut album "St. Anger", and they are way better than Slipknot. I give it 4 "OOOOOH-WAH-AH-AH-AH!"s.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Even though Re-Load was crap for the most part, "Prince Charming" was a good track, it at least gave a slight nod to where they came from. Considering everything the have gone through since the Black Album, there is just no way they could keep raising the bar once they worked out a deal with their record company. If they had moderated their approach somewhat, I think Load would have been a much more successful album. For what it is, its not a bad album, I just hate what it represented: Metallica getting older, and feeling a need to change for its own sake... not so much a progession, because with the exception of a track or two, there is no link from Load to the Black Album back to the classics of the first four albums. Gone was the speed, the rawness, the attitude, of the first four albums. Gone was the sound and moderately fast playing style of the Black Album that made it at the very least palatable (If for nothing else I dig the Black Album for the guitar sound, I have always wanted Hetfield's rhythm sound, hard as it is to control). They changed a little too much for most fan who grew up with the first four albums to stomach, and then they heaped Reload on top of that. As I said before, the thing that really pissed me off about those two albums is Hetfield's attitude of "we'll *make* them like it".
