Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted June 18, 2003 Apparently when Flair was champ in 92, he defended it against the Warrior at several house shows. I was wondering if anyone has seen any of these matches, and their opinions.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 18, 2003 I'm more curious...did we even get a blow-off to the whole Summerslam storyline with Perfect/Flair/Warrior/Savage? Wasn't it that they were just playing mind games and used it to screw them or something because Flair won the title like two weeks later...
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted June 18, 2003 I know that Flair won the title off Savage by working over the injuries that Savage was selling from Summerslam- apparently this was the conclusion of the Flair/Perfect 'masterplan' at Summerslam 92- to have Warrior soften up Savage and then have Flair win the title soon afterwards? Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 18, 2003 yeah...The real blowoff was supposed to be at Series instead.. but we know WHAT happened there...
Guest Random Hero Report post Posted June 18, 2003 yeah...The real blowoff was supposed to be at Series instead.. but we know WHAT happened there... Care to enlighten me?
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted June 18, 2003 That would be Warrior throwing a hissy fit over being asked to turn heel and leaving wwf. This led to the changing of the Survivor Series match which was originally Savage/Warrior vs Ramon/Flair to Flair/Ramon vs Savage...and Mr Perfect who had till that time been used as Flair's 'executive consultant' ie manager whilst he healed form his back injury. This match led to Perfect turning face and eventuallu to the Flair vs Perfect looser leaves town match (one of the best ever Raw matches) which in turn led to Flair leaving wwf for 9 years... Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 18, 2003 and thus led to WWF dropping the ball when Henning was PERFECT (pun intended) for A face Main event run... Instead they went with Luger and stuck Perfect RIGHT back into the mid-card.
Guest Random Hero Report post Posted June 18, 2003 Warrior wouldn't have made a good heel.
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted June 18, 2003 I remember watching Superstars the sunday/saturday right after SummerSlam in Wembley where they had a Ric Flair promo for an upcoming house show where he said he would beat Warrior and made fun of him. I assume it never happened 'cause Flair wrestled Savage instead and got the Belt back.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2003 At the time, the WWF was going for a Warrior / Flair Royal Rumble match for the title - which I suppose would have been the final blowoff. Obviously those plans went out the window before Bret won the title - which occured about a month before Warrior left. I know Warrior and Flair had at least one match after the title loss with Warrior getting the win.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 18, 2003 So would Warrior get another run with the title and then what? Warrior/Yoko? EEEKS! But at least it would've been good continunity with the Hogan thing...
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Well the Warrior / Flair match was planned in early October 92 - so I doubt Vince was taking a look at Yoko, who had just made his debut a few weeks earlier, and going "Oooooh, WrestleMania main event heel." I believe there was also some talk to keep the belt on Flair and have him lose it to a returning Hogan at 9. WrestleMania IX happened the way it did because so many of the major draws (Hogan, Flair, Sid, Jake, Piper, Warrior, etc) had not been in the picture for so long and the WWF was forced to emphasize it's much more cartoonish talent. That's why we were fed Crush vs. Doink and Hogan/Beefcake vs. Money Inc instead of Bret vs. Backlund and Steiners vs. Money Inc.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 19, 2003 DAMN YOU WARRIOR! HE FUCKED IT AGAIN AND GAVE US THAT PIECE OF SHIT PPV...
Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted June 19, 2003 In Oct 1992 in Phoenix, Warrior potatoed Flair during their match. Flair missed nearly a month of action and dropped the world title only a few days later.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 19, 2003 was Flair dropping the title to Hogan and leaving anyways? So the idea was for Warrior to turn heel...but yet face Flair at Rumble? Since Bret was champion was Warrior going to get before rumble and turn face again and drop it to flair for flair to drop it to Hogan and hogan would've wound up dropping it to Yoko anyways? If I had the book I'd gone with this Warrior turns on Savage...at series. Savage is outta commision...Warrior does rants and shit...but only in a evil way...(I.E wears black instead of red and green) Flair to win the WWF title back at Rumble over Bret in a 30 minute classic Warrior to look like he will win the rumble but Savage chases him out...Allowing Yoko to win but never using the winner gets title shot at Mania stip... So you book Savage/Warrior II... Flair calls himself the greatest...Hogan makes his return...Signs the match of the century... Yoko starts a deal with Bret and they ink for Mania... Perfect turns face on Flair when he refuses to ambush Hogan and risk getting his ass kicked... so he fights HBK to show him what a REAL champion is all about...They go 15 minutes with Shawn cheating to win... Luger makes his WWF match debut over undefeated Tatanka and squashes him... Savage pins Warrior and warrior is sent off...Savage retires sortly thereafter... Flair lays down for Hogan in a MAJOR main event...and goes back to atlanta... Bret makes Yoko look good and doesn't get hurt by the whole lost the title to a guy who held it for 23 seconds burn... Yoko emerges as the #1 contender...Signs with Hogan for KOTR... Yoko retires and kills Hulkamania as he did in reality...Bret Wins KOTR... Luger stays the heel because he worked better that way... Bret signs for Summerslam with Yoko...Wins the match but not the title... Luger does an interview segment early in the show (slam) and costs bret the title... Luger starts getting under Hart's Skin and they have a Major Raw match for #1 contendership... Henning whom lost to HBK at Slam in his "final" chance...returns and heel turns on Bret...Giving Luger the #1 title contender spot... Perfect and Hart have a storyline dyamic of Hart and Henning being the two greatest wrestling families ever... You have the Hart Family Vs Henning and His three "Cousins" (random jobbers) You do the same thing you did in reality...Owen is the sole Hart eliminated... Since Luger was the #1 title contender and he was a Heel and 3 Way Dances didn't exist back then... They make it up that Luger lost his shot due to Perfect's Interference... Undertaker emerges as Yokos Natural Challenger as Luger protests the announcement as Yoko and 'Taker DRAW at Series because Luger lays them both out... Luger is no longer the Narrcissant but merely this Shades of Grey Lone Wolf type tweener... Pres. Tunney decides to give LUGER the shot at Rumble instead...Undertaker doesn't really protest or nothing since he is a dead man and has no emotions and stuff... So rumble is set up as Rumble Bret Vs Mr. Perfect.... Yoko Vs Luger Bret beats Perfect in a classic and Perfect is sent packing from WWF because of his Injuries and "issues"... No stupid 10 man interference for the title match... Luger Wins the title clean The Rumble is considered "Undertaker's to win" Taker whom was an favorite last year (1993) is a little more cautious this time around...because of Giant Gonzalez. Taker draws #22. Taker bullies the Big Hosses (Bammer, Crush)...Bret does the Leg Injury sell as he did in reality drawing #27...(They let him wrestle the Rumble because they were low on star power and they pretend that his match with Perfect and his win got him into the rumble) and this time...Owen Draws #29 instead of #5... The match comes down to the final Six Undertaker (22), Bret (27), Owen (29), Crush (16), HBK (18) and Bam Bam (15) Crush, HBK, Owen and Bam work to get Taker out as Bret is in pain in the corner selling the Injury... bret limps over and Tosses out Crush and Bam... dropping it down to Taker, Bret, Owen and Shawn... Bret gets shawn hanging over the ropes but Owen dumps him over to HUGE heel heat...Bret gets in his face (ala Hogan-Sid)...HBK superkicks Owen over and Walks into a Tombstone from Taker and is tossed over with Ease... This sets up for Wrestlemania X The Undertaker Vs Lex Luger Bret Hart Vs Owen Hart... as the double Main event... Taker wins his title and Owen gets the upset... 'Taker runs with the title until WWF realizes he needs a much needed rest to heal his back...decide to take the title off of him...and have it that Luger attacks him severely... But instead of just having him drop it... They take the KOTR tourny and make it for the WWF TITLE... Bret Hart HBK Lex Luger 123 Kid Diesel Razor Ramon Owen Hart Takanta So Bret goes *** with Shawn...Luger kills 123 kid...Ramon and Diesel go with a Draw....allowing Owen to Advance to the finals... Bret and Luger get a great ***1/2 job out there with Bret getting it done...Luger softens Bret up for Owen... Owen Cuts a KILLER promo before the match... Bret and Owen go at it for 40 minutes with Bret squeaking by with a rollup for the win and the title... Owen is irate and DEMANDS a title shot... They repeat the Cage Match with Bret winning and closing the book on Owen...and that's where I leave off on...
