Guest goodhelmet Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 OK, so the spurs are celebrating their championship. no riots, no arrests other than intoxication, no violence. 200,000 people flooded the streets of san antonio after the game, celebrating, drinking, hugging and hi-fiving complete strangers. no problems except for the unfortunate and sad incident of a woman falling out of a pickup truck and eventually dying. in the last few years, we have seen riots in LA, detroit, chicago, denver(?) and other cities. if you live in a region where roits after championships are commonplace, can you please explain why your communities can't celebrate with class and dignity like san antonio has proven in both of their runs?
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 because S.A is too fucking boring to have fun... RIOTS=FUN.
Guest razazteca Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Nearly 50,000 are in the Alamo Dome now!
Guest Powerplay Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 ... Detroit didn't riot during any of it's last three cup celebrations. At least, not that I remember.
Guest goodhelmet Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 ok, i hope you were being facetious. if not, then you are admitting that destroying your city is exciting and doesn't do irreparable damage to your community?
Guest goodhelmet Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 ... Detroit didn't riot during any of it's last three cup celebrations. At least, not that I remember. i distinctly remember detroit rioting after the fist stanley cup and after the nba titles.
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Nope...the actual Act of Rioting is fun... I've been in REAL riots...not these Sports fans go nutty and flip cars over shit...
Guest Kingpk Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Feh, there were just over a MILLION people in Boston for the Patriots Superbowl victory parade. BEAT THAT!!
Guest Powerplay Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Not during the first Cup. Maybe a few rowdy people, but there wasn't any rioting that I remember. And the NBA finals was... what, 13 years ago? I don't think it's fair to use that example now.
Guest Powerplay Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Feh, there were just over a MILLION people in Boston for the Patriots Superbowl victory parade. BEAT THAT!! I believe we had around the same for the Red Wings first cup victory. I'm almost sure of it. Though not sure of the last two....
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 and the devils HAD A HUGE crowd of what? 23 people for the cup championship? Yep. Hockey fucked good.
Guest bob_barron Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 New York City also NEVER riots when their team wins a title.
Guest the pinjockey Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Feh, there were just over a MILLION people in Boston for the Patriots Superbowl victory parade. BEAT THAT!! I think the parade for the 1980 Phillies hit the seven digit mark. And mark my words when another Philly team wins a title there will be at least two million people there. We are desperately seeking a parade. That is what makes the whole New Jersey situation hurt so much is that their fans do so little. Fucking ingrates.
Guest razazteca Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Damn the most entertaining thing about the whole celebrition was when Steve Kerr showed off his BLING BLING 5 Rings. For a second there he looked like Eminem.
Guest goodhelmet Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 i agree about steve kerr. back to the original point... for those of you in cities that have riots... why?
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 It's fun to break shit and be all disorderly to cops.
Guest undisputedjericho Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Feh, there were just over a MILLION people in Boston for the Patriots Superbowl victory parade. BEAT THAT!! The Yankees tripled that for their 2000 parade.
