Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Could you see any merit in adding a text scroll to the WWE programming throughout the entire show? I figured that since TNN had that annoying black bar at the bottom of the screen, they could carry it over into WWE shows and run WWE news, ticket updates, promos, house show results, advertisements, and other stuff. Since they would have the opportunity to whore themselves even more by telling you about new Triple H shirts at Shopzone on the bottom of the screen, and since everyone likes ESPN2's, I can see this happening. Would you want it to?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 No. I appreciate the "Tickets on sale this week" thing done during Raw, but nothing more than that.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 They already do that with the "live event" on-sale dates, right?
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Yeah but I'm saying to have it run constantly with ticket sales and other promotional garbage.
Guest bravesfan Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 No. That's what the WWE ads running in and out of their shows (DVD advertisements, PPV promos, ticket information) are for.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 How about if there weren't any commercial breaks, and just ads constantly running at the bottom of the screen (like Oxygen does)?
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 How about if there weren't any commercial breaks, and just ads constantly running at the bottom of the screen (like Oxygen does)? That would be good but then you 1) wouldn't have suspensful commercial breaks, 2) the advertisers might want traditional spots, and 3) you're a guy, don't watch Oxygen.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 They did it during the World Cup last year. "Now, this portion of the game is brought to you by Old Spice" and then, they'd have a small logo in the top of the screen.
Guest Steviekick Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 It would be nice to have Raw be uninterupted, but those scroll bars would get very distracting and annoying after a couple of minutes...I don't mind the brief one that they do to anounce ticket sales because I know it will soon dissappear.
Guest JRE Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 They should advertise the Raw polls with a bottom line.....and just have a sponsor for those, that'd cut out a commercial or two.

It's annoying on TNN's basic programming. When they first started it, it was, no lie, I got out the ruler and measured, ONE FOURTH of the screen. One fourth of the screen was a black bar that told you what show you were watching. Completely unneccessary. If you see Andy Kaufman with a weird accent in a garage and don't know you're watching "Taxi," you're fucking stupid.
syxx2001 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 the scroll bars aren't annoying at all. think of it as the bottom of your tv being broken or something.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 the scroll bars aren't annoying at all. think of it as the bottom of your tv being broken or something. Because that's certainly a pleasant thought. I know I wouldn't be annoyed in the LEAST if the bottom of my TV was broken.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 "They did it during the World Cup last year. "Now, this portion of the game is brought to you by Old Spice" and then, they'd have a small logo in the top of the screen." I remember back in 1990 while watching the World Cup, it seemed every goal was scored during a commercial break. I think that played a big factor in the way soccer ads are run now...
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I wouldn't mind occasional scrolls, if they listed the results of earlier matches (e.g. "Booker T def. Christian by DQ - 6:57") and listed upcoming matches. Or if they used it to hype up someone or something ("RVD now has a 7 week winning streak heading into the PPV next Sunday") I wouldn't want it non-stop, or just hyping up what's in the shopzone, but they could use it occasionally.
Guest The Old Me Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 No commercials during RAW? Great, 20 more minutes of Mae Young!
Guest OnlyMe Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I don't think they'd have enough to fill it. They could, I suppose, if they wanted to, but there'd be not a lot to say. Plus if it's there all the time, important ticket messages can be lost amongst all the "Lesnar vs. Big Show - tonight!" messages.
Guest Lemon Drop Kid Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Maybe instead of showing us stupid "Why is the camera there?" stuff, they could scroll, "Sources say that the Undertaker attempted to embalm Steve Austin alive. More as it unfolds."
