Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Basically, Cap comes out of suspended animation, and the Ultimates are officially unveiled. Oh, and Bucky's still alive. Does this refute Marvel's first law of death (only Bucky stays dead)? I hate to sound blasphemous, but Mark Millar handled Cap's reanimation much better than Stan Lee did in Avengers#4. More realistic, that is - or at least as realistic as a man frozen in ice still being alive can be. Liefeld's Cap, of course, never happened. No Thor. I'm guessing that he'll appear in #4. Good issue, a definite buy. 8/
Guest gthureson Report post Posted March 28, 2002 It's official, hell has frozen over, the universe has started contracting, the Red Sox are going to win the World Series by beating the Cubs, the Maple Leafs are winning the Stanley Cup. Bucky is alive.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 28, 2002 the Maple Leafs are winning the Stanley Cup. Technically, it should be Chicago or Boston winning the Stanley, as they've had a longer draught. It's "only" been 35 years for the Leafs, but of course with the amount of whining the media here does you'd think that it was 100 and the Leafs hadn't won once, much less eleven times. But I digress. The good news is that Bucky's old, and dying. Well, I suppose that's good news...
Guest One Bad Apple Report post Posted March 28, 2002 He's not really alive. It's a different continuity.

Guest Luke Cage Report post Posted March 29, 2002 Roger Stern (IIRC) wanted to write a story where Cap would be reunited with Bucky. While visiting a WW II veteran's hospital, Cap would meet an old man covered with horrific burns. During Cap's greeting the vet would croak, "Cap...don't you know me?..It's Bucky!" The idea was that Bucky survived the explosion but was crippled for life and covered from head to toe with burns. IIRC, he had a multiple issue "reunion" story arc planned, but The EIC at the time (May have been Shooter...don't recall) nixed the story. IMO, it would have made a good "What If?". The Ultimates has the same glacial pacing as the other Ultimate Marvel books I started reading and dropped. I like Bryan Hitch, so I'm giving it till the end of the first story arc and then I'm moving on.
Guest raptor Report post Posted March 31, 2002 I didn't like the first two issues, but issue 3 got me really into it. The last page was one of the better ultimate moments, and actually has me interested in Captain America ( a character I've despised). I might even pick up the Marvel Knights relaunch;)
