Guest justcoz Report post Posted March 28, 2002 So Steve Austin doesn't feel he should lay down to the NWO? He feels his position in the company is threatened by their presence and doesn't like how Vince McMahon has made them his pet project. Doesn't this sound familiar to the position Hulk Hogan was in when he shocked the world and joined the NWO becoming a heel? So Steve Austin's return to Raw should see him joining the New World Order. Even if it's just a short term thing, the NWO is missing the 'mega star' presence that Hogan brought to the group. What better replacement than Stone Cold? Some will argue that it wouldn't work. Flair's Raw needs top babyfaces. Triple H could end up on the Raw roster, Rob Van Dam, Booker T (fans are dying to pop for the spinarooni just like they were for the People's Elbow years ago), Jeff Hardy, Kane and maybe a trade which brings Chris Benoit in. That's more than enough faces and people will cheer Austin and the NWO anyway. So here is my Tommy Fierro tribute. The stage is set on this week's Raw. Stone Cold is returning! Triple H vs. Scott Hall for the world title is headlining the show. The NWO are beating down Triple H. Stone Cold's music hits. Austin comes running to the ring with a chair and shocks the television audience by ramming the chair across Triple H's skull. Austin then removes his Stone Cold t-shirt as a camera focuses on his What? t-shirt. Austin then turns around to reveal the NWO logo on the front of the shirt as the show closes. Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 28, 2002 His first 2 heel turns bombed, this would to IMO. Don't name topics with your name, after a few more no one will notice the difference.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted March 28, 2002 turning austin again just to revive a boring angle would be kind of suicidal at this point.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 28, 2002 stone cold isn't heel material. he was a great heel (my fav ever) as stunning steve austin, but no one would buy that kind of drastic change. Austin is designed to be a heel at this point since no matter what he does the fans want to cheer him.
Guest X-Factor Corperation Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I think it would work. But Austin had a heel turn recently. Perhaps the Rock would make sence. -Essa Rios.........
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted March 28, 2002 If they were going to turn Rock NWO, they should have done it either at WM or the night after. Dames
Guest justcoz Report post Posted March 28, 2002 the topics having my name in them were goofs, i post on different message boards and wasn't thinking when i filled out the form... I think it's unfair to say that Austin's heel turn BOMBED just because people really wanted to cheer for him... in the ring, as a heel, Austin put on some great matches during the Alliance angle, the What? catchphrase started when he was a heel and in my opinion got cartoony with the babyface turn, as a heel Austin's character had way more depth compared to his beer guzzling, catch phrase sing along babyface personna and he had many great skits with other WWF guys and seemed to have fun doing it. The WWF could have made Austin jumping to the Alliance their equivalent of Hogan's heel turn in WCW. Austin could have came back and cut some great promos based on his start in WCW, hatred for Vince McMahon, being bored with being the most interesting thing in the WWF, etc. but the creative team were... um... not creative? I think this is a total longshot right now based on the fact that Raw needs a very over face and Austin fits that role. I honestly thought that Austin and the NWO would end up in seperate divisions based on the rumored heat you read about on the net. Austin has to be on Raw though. There is no draw there and I can't see him coming back and continuing his feud with the NWO. There are no other strong heels for him to feud with. So maybe the heel turn isn't such a bad idea? Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Well, if Austin were to turn nWo after beating the shit out of Scott Hall and having a cinderblock crushed on his knees, then it would only be par for the course, given the general stupidity of the writing team as of late. I agree. Ever see Nash Bridges? You see how deep his character is. I'm not saying don't turn him face, but they should have turned him slowly, perhaps said how he joined with Triple H, so he could backstab him eventually, but now TYriple H's been injured he understands what he went through. Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 28, 2002 i think it's far more likely that HHH will join the nWo or that HBK will make a come back. austin legit hates the nWo guys so i really doubt he'd work with him.
Guest justcoz Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I think they'd get more mileage out of a Michaels/Helmsley DX vs. Hall/Nash NWO feud. I think those guys would go nuts with it, it would keep them out of everyone else's storylines as the Clique is feuding with each other and there would be a lot of awesome comedy if done correctly... Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 28, 2002 the problem with that is that it's just recycling old stuff. something the wwf needs to stop doing if they want to extend the wrestling boom. the wwf needs to start creating new storylines with new stables, with new superstars, etc. they can't live in the past any longer. wcw lived in the past with it's constant attempts to re create the nwo and look where wcw is now..... Guest Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I dont think Austins heel turn bombed, i liked him more as a heel than ever. He showed more diversity in his character. Before that all he was doing was drinking beer and saying can i get a hell yeah. Not that he's a face all he's doing is drinking beer and saying what. He doesnt even ask anyone if they know what his watch is saying.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted March 28, 2002 yeah i miss the watch.. sigh i bet it could book better than stephanie
Guest justcoz Report post Posted March 28, 2002 By turning Austin heel and alligning him with the NWO, you are opening the door to develop new stars, new babyfaces in particular. Like I mentioned, Booker T turns face. RVD is pushed as the future superstar and someone like Raven is elevated (and although it's rehashing, a Flock of say Hugh Morris, Tommy Dreamer, Lita and Steve Richards). I see what you're saying about DX vs. NWO as being rehashing but it's the last of the 'fantasy' type booking that the WWF can get from purchasing WCW. Guest justcoz Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Totally agreed Pantsking. Austin was much more entertaining and had much more diversity to his character when the fans weren't supposed to cheer him. He will be cheered no matter what because he's a likeable character. That doesn't mean he has to always be marketed as a babyface though because his shtick gets very predictable, watered down and one dimensional as a face. He drinks beer and says his catch phrase. He proved that he can still do all of that as a heel. What's up with forgetting about the what time is it thing? It's like the WWF can't let their babyfaces have more than a few catchphrases and character traits as to not to confuse the marks or something. For instance, The Rock used to be hysterical when he grabbed the headset and did commentary while busting people's heads into the broadcast table or monitors. When was the last time he did that? I would say when he was a heel...
