Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Yesterday I got cable internet. I thought there would be a big difference coming up from 56k dial up, but I had no friggin idea it would be this big. the 20 hours or so I've had cable internet I've downloaded well over 3,000,000 kb of stuff of Kazaa...where as it use to take me a couple of days to get one Smallville episodes (about 150,000) I can never go back to dail up again...even if it means trips to the blood bank to pay the bill
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I can never go back to dail up again...even if it means trips to the blood bank to pay the bill I hear ya. They were talking about taking my cable internet away, but I decided I couldn't go back to dial-up and just pay the bill myself.

Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted June 21, 2003 I hear cable is very good from eveyrone I know that has it, but because my father hates Cablevision, (he's dealt with them as a town councilman as well as a customer) we decided to go with Verizon DSL.... and I love it! :-)
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Damn middle of nowhere, PA. It's hard to download porn on dialup.
Guest DerangedHermit Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Ever since getting cable almost a year and a half ago, it sure as hell has been better than the crap that was AOL dial-up. It seems that Optimum Online is the only thing Cablevision does right.
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Report post Posted June 21, 2003 I just got Satellite Internet from Direcway the other day. It was a last resort because I live out in the sticks where neither DSL nor Cable will be available for a looonnggg time. I nearly fell out of my chair when i saw myself getting a 200 kb/s transfer rate. BUH BYE 28k!!!!!

Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Damn middle of nowhere, PA. It's hard to download porn on dialup. Odd as Comcast's headquarters are in Philly. He's in/near State College, which is literally right on the middle of the state, and roughly 3 - 3.5 hours away from Philly. Basically a college town, w/ not much else around. Guest A.W. Stiffward III Report post Posted June 26, 2003 I've found that Cable Internet is truly the way to be. Dial-up was one of my greatest foes for many years and I cannot tell you how many tea cups were destroyed in anger stemming from dial-up. On the contrary, Cable Internet has become like a good chum--there when you need it, reliable, and giving (you may ask what Cable Internet can give you, well lads, I'll show you my extensive online pornography collection and then you will forever know). Guest Matt Young Report post Posted June 27, 2003 I just got Satellite Internet from Direcway the other day. I nearly fell out of my chair when i saw myself getting a 200 kb/s transfer rate. BUH BYE 28k!!!!! I'm in a similar situation. Despite living only 20 miles from Springfield, I am unable to get access to any of the local DSL or cable providers. I have DirecTV and am considering trying DirecWay, but it is ungodly expensive compared to most broadband. Is it really worth it? I am so sick of 56k, and besides, I need broadband for Xbox live. Guest Muzz Report post Posted June 27, 2003 I went from 14.4k to Cable. I died. Good thing is I can download episodes of MacGyver of all things, bad thing is that I go on the net more than I should because it's always there, ready to go.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted June 27, 2003 One thing I will miss in Ohio is my Road Runner. I think Comcast is where I'll be getting my high-speed connecton, but I'm not 100% sure. Oh, and pity hardyz for where he lives...

Guest KJ Brackish Report post Posted June 28, 2003 I guess I'll add my lil' experience! Well I had 56.6 K and ya know, I didn't think it was all that bad for 56 K. It worked out great sometimes too. I'd start my download for Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop at like 10:00, and by the time I woke up in the morning at like 7:00, it would be done. Then came the day that AT&T Broadband came to my door and said, "We have installed new cable internet lines in your neighborhood." Well, my family agreed to have cable internet....since then...my life has been corrupted. I live by computer! Well....thats all I have for now. Now to live out the next few days until I completely transfer over to Comcast! DAMMIT! I wish I was still AT&T! DFA
