Nothing that would be too much of a pain to run under Windows XP, but if it's a few years old that's fine. For reference, I only play CRPGs for the combat and the strategic elements of character development; thus, I'm looking for something like Diablo II and the Spiderweb shareware games, Jagged Alliance 2, Master of Orion 2, Freelancer, Zanzarah, Natuk, or Wizardry 8. Respawning monsters are a sine qua non.

Highly addictive MMORTS game that is super deep with what direction you want you character to go. There is very little storyline in the game, the real fun of it customizing your character and the units you use. It's a fairly old school looking game. You get a 14 day or 50 hour free trial. Then it's $9.95 a month to go further with the character. online only game.
