This is from the upcoming issue of the Observer Newsletter (I live 70 miles from Meltz, so I get my issue on Friday instead of monday or tuesday like the east coast subscribers)

An important figure going forward is that the company has $441,733,000 in cash, cash equivalents, short term investments, money owed, along with the value of the company property and other assets, and liabilities of $90,648,000 (largely money owed to various sources and deferred income) meaning it's $351 million on the positive side. The real figure right now is probrably closer to $321 million because of the Viacom stock purchase that came after the books for the year closed. With a couple more XFL type debacles, the money could go quickly, however they are aware of the money losers and showed that when they closed the World and the record label that never got off the ground.

It would take years of unchecked, horrible business for the company to be on any kind of bad financial footing. The only real danger would be if they lost their television exposure since TV drives the industry and that shouldn't be much of a concern since they are the highest rated show on both stations it airs on. Then again, so was WCW and we all know what happened there.

Looks like WWE is here to stay for awhile, eh?

The difference between WWE's TV coverage and WCW's TV coverage is that WCW's owners also owned the TV stations, and thus the company itself lost more money than TV revenue was bringing in.

Still though, how do you make money when nobody is paying to watch the shows?

We don't HAVE to pay to watch the shows to make them money. All we have to do is watch the free shows.

The more people that watch RAW, the more the advertising dollars are worth, thus, the more cash Vince makes.

Though you may well have meant actually GOING to shows, in which case...you're right.

It only matters whether the people with Neilson boxes watch, though.

Like I've said before, WWE will be around for MANY years, it's just the way it is. I still think that it'll be around untill Vince, etc... decides to leave the industry.

Looks like the WWE will be around to infuriate us all with their idiotic booking and sub-standard shows for years to come.

Now that's a lot of fucking money.

But it's not even close on what they could be making if they took their heads of their asses and did decent booking. Everyone acts like it would take 6-8 months before the WWE could get back to like they were in 2000...all they need is 3-4 hot storylines, quality matches, and not insulting the audience's intelligence and I bet you within 1 month everyone would be praising the WWE.

I mean, with the talent they have right now, I think they are crazy not to do certain things.

Given the royal fuck-overs Vince pulled with the XFL and Viacom with the roster split of mental retardation, Vince best be praying that Viacom and the folks in charge of NBC don't decide to blackball Vince off of TV, which they can do if they put their minds to it....

Even if they got booted off of Viacom, SOME TV station would take them. They would be crazy not too.

Strange. Knowing that fills me with gladness.

By what I know, Vince actually has deals with advertisers about how he gets them the young peoples demographic, as long as they turn a blind eye as to how he's getting their attention (IOW, no complaining about HLA and Mae Young skits allowed.)

As long as Raw and SmackDown remain the top shows on their networks, I wouldn't be too suprised if Viacom gets something too similar.

I'd like to see the rate of decline. It must be above 25% + pa.
