Guest Smark-Raving Mad Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 I'm going to see Hulk tomorrow, but I'm really having my doubts. So it's got me thinking about other movies I thought would be terrible but actually turned out pretty good. Here's my top five: 5) Goldmember: I know this movie gets crapped on a lot, but I thought it was a total improvement over the Spy Who Shagged Me. They tried new things instead of recycling all the same jokes like Spy. And Dr. Evil's prison rap was the funniest scene of the whole franchise. 4)Undercover Brother: I don't even remember why I saw this movie. I must've just been bored. But I laughed consistently from beginning to end. 3)Drop Dead Gorgeous: I didn't even think twice about this when it came out. I thought it was a chick flick. Then I saw it in my roommate's collection. I was like, "what? Is there a Denise Richards nude scene or something?" We sat down and watched it, and there were parts that had me on the floor. Give this movie a chance. 2)Spider Man: Right up until seeing it, I thought the CGI was terrible. I couldn't comprehend how anyone would pick Tobey McGuire for that role. Well, it ended up being my favorite movie of 2002. 1) Reign of Fire: I laughed at all the commercials of this and saw it as a joke. I could not fathom this movie being even mediocre. But this movie kicks ass! Biggest movie surprise ever.

Guest Smark-Raving Mad Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Whoops! My bad. I can't believe I missed that. Hulk wasn't that terrible, by the way.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Men In Black II. Seriously. I thought it'd just be a piece of shit with no cool parts, and then I watched it because nothing else was on. Still not as good as the first one, but pretty good considering the rash of awful movies, specifically comedies, that have come out recently.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Pleasantville!! I was expecting some crappy movie in black & white, didn't know the plot and didn't really care, etc. Saw it on TNT and was blown away by how good it was.
Guest El Satanico Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Matrix I despise Keanu and figured that he'd ruin another movie that had the potential of being good. Amazingly his horrible acting didn't hold the movie down.
