Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Just been reading interview with Chris on wwf.com, and he's aiming to be back in May. Had minor mark out moment as is only a month away, so thought I would share that with you all.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted March 28, 2002 So if it's Taker HHH at Backlash. Then there's a month to build Heel Benoit against HHH for KOTR is that the May PPV. Or give him a month to destroy mid card faces and then at the June PPV if HHH is still not over as a face give him the title.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Works for me. The good thing about Benoit drafted at no 3 is that they'll *have* to push him pretty hard, maybe even to the title, otherwise Vince will look stupid for drafting him that high. Won't they? Guest Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Yeah, it would look kind of stupid....but quite frankly, we should all be used to the WWF making themselves look stupid by now. ??? But remember, the match Benoit tragically injured himself in was a MAIN EVENT match, so something tells me they had some plans for Benoit after KOTR. Or maybe not, but they better NOT ignore the fact that Benoit was drafted before Hulk Hogan, but they will. Oh well, such is life.

Won't they? Benoit won't get pushed on Smackdown. Unless they re-tool the roster or trade him, he's going to get buried.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Apparently the idea was to put him with either Heyman or Anderson as his manager. That would neccisitate a trade as they are both on Raw. It also indicates that the WWF has given up hope of him ever cutting a Killer promo. He could break boss man and Big Show's necks and then stand around looking pleased though. If that got him over he could do it to the NWO the week after. Guest Brian Report post Posted March 28, 2002 Benoit for King of the Ring 2002!
Guest godthedog Report post Posted March 28, 2002 i wouldn't be getting my hopes up yet. when he comes back it'll be his first time in the ring since june 2001, so he's not going to be in top form. best-case scenario, he'll be the fed's top worker again by the end of the summer. worst-case scenario, he loses that special *something* he had in the ring & is never able to perform in top shape again (scary thought, but it could happen). " And what makes you think Benoit will be any more over as a heel than HHH is a as a face (which is not a lot). I like Benoit a lot, but he really hasn't drawn good heat in his career other than vs. Austin (of course, a Benoit-Austin feud sounds good to me). When he beat the Rock for the title, the crowd was more like "Huh?" than "Booo you suck!".
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I would not put Benoit in a feud with HHH right after his return. I'd go with Austin, but since he's likely to be on Raw, I would put him with Angle. Benoit will most likely need a little while to get back into top form (it took Austin a few months and a Raw match with Benoit) putting him with HHH, who has yet to light the world on fire with his workrate since his return would be almost a death sentence for Benoit. Angle/Benoit is almost a definate good-great match, put Benoit over clean and then give a go in the ME.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I think a take no prisoners taking names and kicking arse Benoit with a good manager could get very over as a heel. If he doesn't don't give him the belts simple as that.
