Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted June 21, 2003 My usual feelings toward playing the lottery are pretty much the same as my feelings toward flushing money down the toilet. However, when a jackpot reaches a specific number you can't help but get a bunch of friends/co-workers to come together and buy some tickets. I did that yesterday with a game called Mega Millions (some of you may know about it and some may not). The jackpot was up to $180 million. I got 57 co-workers together, and we all pitched in $5 each. A few hours ago I was going through our tickets and we were ONE BALL AWAY from winning a $175,000 prize. Granted the money would have come out to roughly $3,000 per person, but $3000 is a heck of a return for a $5 investment. Grrr...
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Don't they still give you some money if you only miss one? I know jack shit about the lottery, but I heard it on the Simpsons.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Don't they still give you some money if you only miss one? I know jack shit about the lottery, but I heard it on the Simpsons. Yes. That ticket I was one number off on was worth $150. It would have been nice to add three more 0's to it, but with that and a few other minor winners everyone is getting $3 of their $5 back. I don't know jack about lotteries, and to tell you the truth I'm glad I don't. I have a feeling I better retire from these lottery pools now because I don't think I'll ever get as close to winning anything like this again (The last time I played in one of these was in December, and each of us won 60 cents per $5 entry)... Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 22, 2003 I won $150 today on Slots up in Delaware on a $20 investment. First time I've ever walked away from the place with money ( I usually take only $20-$30 so I don't blow too much), let alone more than I came in with. Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Since I amassed my little car debt, I bought my first lottery ticket when that Mega Millions was at 68 million, and my numbers were like 15, 26, 27, 28, 29. Seriously have four numbers in a row basically showed me that lottery was not the way to go. BTW, did anybody win that?

Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted June 22, 2003 I love gambling. I believe my love for it started when my grandparents would buy scratch-and-win tickets for me when I was three years old. They also gave me a Japanese slot machine.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Bigger jackpots yes. Smaller ones I don't know. I don't pay any taxes on my $2 instant win scratch-off card, nor do I intend to start doing so...
