Guest Downhome Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 (edited) I've never seen these old horror films, and was just wondering what you guys think of them. Blood Feast Basket Case I Spit On Your Grave Nightbreed Sincerely, ...Downhome... Edited June 22, 2003 by Downhome
LaParkaYourCar Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Basket Case is one messed up movie. I don't really remember a whole lot about it other than lots and lots of blood and I remember the feeling of disgust...and morbid curiosity.
Guest Downhome Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I just added Nightbreed to the list of films I'm currious about. Thanks for that brief post LaParka, heh.

Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I can't really comment on Blood Feast or Night Breed, I've seen them, but it's been a long time and I don't remember too well. As for the other two... Basket Case is great. The effects are ok for it's time and it's budget, but not really too convincing, with maybe a couple of exceptions. It has many funny moments, some intentional, some not. There's a flashback sequence about midway through which is actually pretty well done. If anything is the movie is going to scare or disgust you, it will probably be that. Bad acting, interesting effects, and a few pretty good sequences add up to a good movie that's never boring. It has a great dvd. I Spit On Your Grave is also great. It has a fairly good chance of disturbing you if you're not used to movies with disturbing subject matter. Most of the rape stuff is done pretty realistically. It's graphic, though not glorifying like a lot of reviewers say... no worse than The Accused, I don't think. The five principal actors, with the exception of the geeky/retard character, turn in some good performances. The violence and killing has one really terrible effect and the rest is good. The movie is also pretty good technically for an exploitation film. It also has an excellent dvd, be sure to listen to the Joe Bob Briggs commentary, one of my favorite commentary tracks.
