Guest DarkHollywood Report post Posted June 22, 2003 (edited) WWF TV March-July 1988 This was just after Wrestlemania 4 as Hogan was gonna take his first real break to film the shitty ass "No Holds Barred" movie. This meant time to push a lot of superstars! Well through this tape you'll see who worked as main eventers and who got the big feuds. And off we go..... Strike Force vs Los Conquistadores: We are joined in progress as the Conquistadores are on the outside of the ring regrouping. Vince and Jesse argue over Vince jumping on the Macho Man bandwagon a little too late and Vince tries to evade the question by saying HE was a LONG TIME fan of Elizabeth. Damn I wonder if he and Savage ever got into a confrontation about it because all the tapes I have, sounds like Vince was the one who had lust. Anyway, Strike Force work the arm of a Conquistador, complete with axehandles, armdrags, legdrops, etc. Tide turns as Tito is trapped in the heel corner and he takes a pounding. The heels do the heel tactics of distracting the referee allowing Tito to get choked with the tag rope. Whip into the corner, but Tito gets the boot up! Hot tag to Rick Martel and he's a house of fire! He comes in and just goes to work with clotheslines and rights. Monkeyflip out of the corner. Martel whips a Conquistador into the ropes and catches him with a dropkick. Tag to Tito and he finishes the match with his patent flying forearm. Strike Force get a nice pop, albeit with the help of canned heat. Strike Force couldn't get over too well with the fans, but hey they were an awesome team wrestling wise. * To the Event Center we go! WWF at the Boston Garden May 7! Hey I got some matches from that show on tape! Anyways, we get some promos to hype the match. Bad News Brown is pissed off at the Hitman for the events that took place in the Wrestlemania 4 battle royal. He gets in a classic line: "You will pay the price physically, mentally, and spiritually!" Bret Hart retorts and his promo wasn't too bad. BUT! The way he ends the promo aint good at all. "It doesn't matter if you're from Harlem because that doesn't scare me! The only thing that scares me is when someone double crosses me and pushes me too far! I'm real real real mad!" That ending can tell you if it was bad. Finally a promo from Jake Roberts and of course he was awesome on the mic. Even for house shows he cut nice promos! Interview stand with Craig DeGeorge. His guest is Ravishing Rick Rude. He is here to pick some lucky lady out of the audience for a Rude Awakening. Heenan: "Maybe you should explain to these people what the Rude Awakening is." Rude: "No no Bobby. Words can't describe a Rude Awakening." He picks a lady out of the crowd and kisses her, tongue and all. Vince: "Look at that ring she's married!" Jesse: "I'll bet Rude has broken up a lot of married couples!" Classic. Ted Dibiase vs Frank DeFalco: Dibiase kicked ass in 1988 and it's too bad he never won the World Title cause he was the greatest heel imo. DeFalco outsmarts Dibiase to start by dodging clotheslines and he nails Dibiase with some shoulderblocks. Dibiase leaves the ring to regroup. Back in Dibiase comes off the ropes and clotheslines the hell out of DeFalco. He rams the face of DeFalco into the buckles and then chops away (WHOO!). Dibiase throws DeFalco out and rams his head into the ring apron. Jesse: "I heard from Virgil that because of the Million Dollar Man, this country has a large national debt." Awesome. Back in Dibiase with the Val Venis like knees to the midsection. He then locks on a sleeper. Jesse: "He's got a sleeper on." Vince: "Dibiase said he was going to show us something new and he calls it the Million Dollar Dream!" That's people. This is the official debut of the Million Dollar Dream, only after Dibiase locks it in he completes it with a Russian legsweep. That gets the win. * UPDATE brought to you by the pages of the WWF Magazine here's UPDATE. Lord Alfred Hayes has the news for us. Last week, JYD was on the way to the ring for a match, but Ron Bass got in his way and prevented him from passing. This caused both to exchange words and finally JYD could pass..........only to be strangled by Miss Betsy (Bass' whip). We get words from both men. Bass says he wants to get it on and show that he is the best man. JYD is pissed and does a solid promo stating he is coming for the Cowboy! Course I don't wanna see a match with these 2!! This has been UPDATE. Jim Duggan vs Pete Sanchez: Few weeks ago, Duggan and Andre got into it. Duggan had gotten done with a match and challenged Andre. Andre then got the upperhand, choking Duggan. Duggan then reached out and got his 2x4 and KO'd the big man. So this was the man to feud with Andre with Hogan taking time off, sheesh. Duggan starts off with his usual crappy offense wit h punches, boots, etc. Whip into the corner and Duggan catches Sanchez with a clothesline and more rights follow. Hiptoss and kneedrop then come after that. Whip into the corner and it's the 10 punches. Sanchez however mounts a comeback with a poke to the eyes. Duggan comes back and Vince gets a line that is real true about Duggan: "He dances to a different tune." Anyway, a bodyslam and 3 point stance finish it. Jesse gets the classic: "I bet you and Duggan went to the same university and graduated with honors!" But wait! It's the dastardly Andre coming down the aisle! He comes out with Heenan and he is PISSED. Andre attempts to climb into the ring and go after Duggan. Duggan then takes a swing with the 2x4 and hits buckle as Andre escapes. ½* Interview stand with DeGeorge. We get Dino Bravo and Frenchy Martin (one of the worst managers ever!). They yap about how Americans are idiots. La Resistance take note, you could be as horrible as this duo. Bravo claims the only strong American is Patera and that Patera is nothing to Bravo. "You don't stand a chance against da strongest man in da world!" Next.. Bad News Brown vs Jim Evans: Bad News was an awesome heel. He was Stone Cold before there was Stone Cold Steve Austin. Brown attacks right away with tons of rights to the face of Evans. Brown rams Evans into the buckle twice and then lifts Evans up and does a clothesline job on the top rope. Headbutt and rights continue to keep Evans down. Whip into the ropes and Brown with a hard clothesline. Ghetto Blaster finishes it. Afterwards, Brown taunts Evans then throws him out of the ring. ½* Another promo from Bret Hart about Wrestlemania 4 and yes another horrible promo. "I may have busted up the trophy and I am gonna bust you up real real real real bad!" Damn he loves saying real a lot and he loves words that rhyme (mad, bad). Ted Dibiase vs Outback Jack: Tiny Kangaroo Down Sport! Dibiase attacks right away with rights and chops to the Aussie. Whip into the ropes and Jack ducks an elbow and nails Ted with a clothesline to the fans delight. Rights by Jack and he whips Dibiase into the corner. Jack charges, but eats boot. 2nd rope 2x axehandle and then 3 fistdrops by Ted. He stomps away then whips Jack into the ropes and catches him with a knee to the midsection. Ted follows up with 2 elbowdrops and then pounds away with rights. Ted chops away and then throws Jack into the ropes and clotheslines him. Million Dollar Dream and it's over. *1/4 "Outlaw" Ron Bass vs Lanny Poffo: Poffo with a poem at the beginning. Hey go to amazon.com and buy Lanny Poffo's Wrestling with Rhyme if you were a fan of him. Cool poems. Anyway, The two lockup and Bass starts with rights and whips Poffo into the ropes and Poffo comes off ducking an elbow counters with a dropkick. Headscissors take down, followed by a sunset slip and that gets a 1 count. Bass regroups and then we lockup again, only this time Bass tries to work the arm, but Poffo reverses it into an armdrag. Jesse and Vince discuss the incident with JYD and Bass, which leads into a discussion about Andre-Duggan. Bass comes back and he bodyslams Poffo. Bass goes into some horrible offense to really drag the match down. Lots of knees, punching, elbows, etc. Powerslam by Bass and then he finishes Poffo off with a pedigree. That's right Bass did the pedigree before HHH, only Bass doesn't hook the arms. ½* Interview stand with DeGeorge. His guest is Jim Duggan. Duggan talks about his altercations with Andre and how he doesn't fear any man. He states his 2x4 is a "GIANT KILLER! HOOOOO!!" He wants to go Giant hunting. Rick Rude has just gotten done with a match and we'll let Rude take it from here. Rude: "There she is Bobby, all decked out in white. Ooh look at those legs Bobby. Come on in sweet heart." The woman just sits and Rude now goes outside. Rude: "Sweet heart you don't have to be intimidated by Ravishing Rick Rude. I know you want it. Ravishing Rick Rude is the man you came to see. Am I right?" Woman: "Wrong." Rude: "Wrong? Sweet heart I know you are a bit intimidated. Tell me this, is Ravishing Rick Rude the sexiest man alive?" Woman: "No." Rude: "No? Well honey, if you didn't come to see Rick Rude, then who did you come to see?" Woman: "My husband." Rude: "Your husband? I don't see your husband. Is this ugly thing (next to you) your husband. Where is yout husband? Just what does this husband do?" Woman: "Professional wrestler." Rude: "A Professional wrestler." Heenan: "You mean the man (Jack Milliman) that Rude just wiped the mat with. Honey he is gonna be out." Rude: "And just might who this big bad professional wrestler be baby cakes?" Woman: "Jake, Jake the Snake Roberts." Crowd pops. Rude: "Jake Roberts huh? Well I should've known. That man is a sleasy low down piece of garbage. And let me tell you something woman! For you to hang with that man makes you as big of a loser as he is. In fact you, your old man and any member of your family isn't worth 2 cents! So what do you think about that!?" The woman gets up and slaps Rude! Rude grabs her wrist: "You wanna play rough with me!!! I'll show you!!" Suddenly out comes Roberts! The crowd goes wild and he knocks Heenan down and Rude and Roberts engage in a WILD brawl to the backstage area. Folks, this is a CLASSIC! If you have never seen it go find it somehow. Cheryl Roberts was great (and pretty hot too). Bret Hart vs Van Van Horne: This is one of Bret's first singles matches as a babyface. Where's the Mouth? Where's Anvil? Hmm. They lockup and Bret pounds away with rights and elbows and kicks his ass. Backbreaker by Hart, followed by a bodyslam and more elbowdrops. Snapmare and a legdrop follow after that. Then Bret Hart disposes of Horne with his 1988 baby face finisher: A textbook piledriver. That's right, no Sharpshooter yet. * Interview stand with DeGeorge. Dibiase is in the ring after a squash. Savage taunts Dibiase with the World title and tells him to pay his dues. Not much of note otherwise. Handicapped match: Outback Jack, Brady Boone, and Steve Blackman vs the Islanders: Hmm gutsy move by Heenan. Wait Heenan has the mic. Heenan: "Ladies and gentleman. This will not be a handicapped match, oh no. The Brain has done it again. You see we have a 3rd Islander. From the Island of Somoa, the High Chief of the Islands. The High Chief Afi!" And right away Afi fucks up as he comes down the aisle high fiving fans. That is why he only lasted like 3 weeks. Afi is covered in tattoos, long hair and he is roided up. Islanders all attack, but the faces fight them off. Tama starts with Outhouse Jack, I mean Outback Jack. Outback hammers away with rights and Blackman comes in with an axehandle to the arm of Tama. Tama fights back and tags in Afi and Afi works in some rights. He nails Steve with a 2x chop. Clothesline and Afi tries to look mean by rearranging the face of Blackman. Blackman however fights back and tags in Brady Boone, who I think is the best jobber ever. Boone with a kneelift and a dropkick. Vince is astounded by all the tattoos on Afi and Jesse retorts with a classic comment. "You got "MOM" tattooed on you, that must've hurt." Boone charges at Afi in the corner, but gets crotched to turn the tide. Haku comes in and elbows Boone then tag out to Tama. Tama in off the ropes with a 2x axehandle and then he and Haku nail Boone with a 2x headbutt. Atomic drop sends Boone and Afi is tagged in. 2x chop sends Boone down. Whip into the ropes and another clothesline. Afi has looked limited that's for sure. Tag to Tama who nails a reverse crescent kick. He bites Brady Boone. Boone thrown into the corner and Steve Blackman is tagged in. Blackman is overmatched and Haku comes in with a dropkick. Outback Jack is tagged in and he fires away with right hands. However Isles over power him. Tama in with a bodyslam and then an elbowdrop misses and Brady Boone tagged back in. Boone with a spin kick and then he shoots Tama into the ropes and catches him with a flying elbow! However, the Isles comeback and Haku in to take care of Boone. Backsuplex leads to a big splash off the top ropes by Tama to give all 3 Islanders the win. Afi screwed up before the match, he was limited in the ring and then to top it off: He can't even remember that he has to brawl with the faces afterwards and throw one face over the ropes and out. Afi lasted 3 weeks and this match showed why. *1/4 Honky Tonk Man vs Hillbilly Jim: Oh dear God no!! I like HTM, but I hate Jim! Jesse: "I heard Hillbilly is now the mayor of Mudlink. He got the majority 5 to 4! Only 9 people live there and that includes 2 dogs!" Classic. STALL STALL STALL! UGH! Lockup, but Hillbilly overpowers HTM to start. Hillbilly nails Honky with a big boot and then slaps on the bear hug. YAY! Into the corner and Hillbilly crushes HTM with all his weight. Hillbilly backs up, charges......but HTM moves and rolls him up with a handful of tights and the win! Thank God that was short! DUD To the Event Center with Gene Okerlund. Tonight! Boston Garden get ready! Promo with Jim Duggan about his match with Andre. "Sure I may have bad eyes, but that way I can keep one eye on you (Andre) and one eye on the Weasel. You've heard the saying give em the boot. Well we're gonna give you the thumb!" Okay. Greg Valentine promo. He just says Jake can't escape the figure four leglock. Bret Hart vs Barry Horowitz: From the April 88 SNME taping. Lockup and Bret stars on offense right away with rights and a big backbreaker on Barry. Snapmare and then an elbowdrop follow by Bret. Barry out to regroup and he gets slingshotted back into the ring. Bret with a headbutt and right hands to pound away. Barry comes back by raking the eyes and he pounds with axehandles and rights. Kneelift and then Barry whips Bret into the ropes and goes for a leapfrog, but Bret catches him with an inverted atomic drop. Bret Hart then tells Barry to make a wish. Hey didn't Barry Horowitz at one time wrestle as Barry Hart for another fed? Anyway, Bret continues the onslaught as he nails Barry with elbows. 2nd rope elbow and a bodyslam followed by an elbowdrop by Bret. Bret with heel tactics and then the piledriver finishes Horowitz. Nice little match. *1/2 Event Center again. Philadelphia Spectrum May 21! Promos with Islanders and Heenan (no Afi). Heenan claims that the outfit at WM 4 was just a protective suit and that's all! He could wrestle with his birthday suit on! Ha. Bulldogs and Koko B. Ware give their thoughts and basically, they're coming for Heenan. Promo with Jim Duggan about his match with Andre. Duggan has no fear! More guts than brains! Young Stallions vs Barry Horowitz and Steve Lombardi: Another Horowitz match? Fine by me. Jesse brings up Mic Jagger in court for supposedly stealing someone's music and then says that the Young Stallions could be in the same situation stealing "Crank it Up" from Jimmy Hart. Lombardi and Powers start and Steve with the upperhand with a boot and some rights. Jim Powers fights back with a backdrop and Barry Horowitz is tagged in. Lockup leads to an armbar by Powers. Tag to Roma who comes in with a sunset flip on Horowitz. Stallions work away on the arm with armdrags, axehandles, etc. Roma catches Horowitz with a dropkick for 2. Tag to Powers and he finishes the match with a powerslam. Young Stallions were solid, but they fought amongst each other all the time and in turn self-destructed as a team. * Interview stand with DeGeorge. Andre and Heenan are the guests. Duggan has awoken a sleeping Giant and therefore, Andre is more dangerous than any man on earth! Watch out! Greg Valentine vs George Steele: *Sniff* why!?!?!?!?? Stall fest but Hammer gets into the ring and is greeted with rights. Steele rams Hammer into the buckle. Hammer returns the favor and works away with forearms, elbows, chops, etc. Valentine goes up, but gets caught coming down and Steele takes over. Valentine rammed into the buckle. Jimmy Hart distracts, so Steele runs out after him in the aisle. Valentine comes out, nails Steele from behind and The Hammer wins by countout. That was gay. DUD Demolition vs Jose Luis Rivera and Scott Casey: Hell yeah Demos rule. Demos pound away with their usual stuff. Ax with a bodyslam on Rivera, but Jose comes back with a dropkick. Tag to Casey, but the Demos overpower him. Jesse: "Demolition make great role models for the kids. They paint their faces like heroes out of comic books." Vince: "Jesse what kind of childhood did you have?" Jesse: "Me? A normal one. When I was born, I slapped the doctor and took a cab home!" Demolition finishes with the Decapitation. * Event Center with Okerlund. Promo from Rick Rude and Heenan. Bobby: "If I'd have known that was Jake's wife, I wouldn't have let Rick near that bimbo." Jake then cuts a classic promo as he is pissed. Bam Bam Bigelow vs Barry Horowitz: Stand back! Barry attacks with an axehandle and goes to work with rights. Eye poke and Horowitz is kicking Bam Bam's ass. Whip into the ropes is reversed and Bigelow nails Barry with a clothesline. Snapmare and a headbutt. Whip into the ropes and Bammer catches Horowitz with a backdrop. Bam Bam nails Barry with a suplex and then a bodyslam. Bigelow finishes with the slingshot splash. * Event Center. Boston Garden get ready! June 7 8 pm. Duggan promo as he is pissed about their last match in the Garden when Andre nailed him with the 2x4 and won by countout. Duggan has put a string in the 2x4 to hang it on the buckle so he can reach it and get it. OOH scary! Interview with the Ultimate Warrior and Strike Force. They will get Fuji and destroy him then show Demolition are not worthy champions. The Rougeau Brothers vs Rick Gantner and Tony Leone: In their promo, Rougeaus state that 20% of the fans are booing them. They are from Montreal like Dino Bravo, but they don't like Dino Bravo because they love the USA! La Resistance, learn from them. Ramon and Gantner start with a lockup and Gantner pounds with right hands. Rougeaus comeback and Gantner is caught in a crab. Jacques in and he nails Gantner with a kneedrop on the back of his head. Leone tagged in and puts the boots to Jacques. Jacques comes back with a backdrop on Leone. Ramon tagged in and gets a nice savat kick in on Leone. Jacques back in with a flying elbow. Tag to Ramon and it's a double backdrop, then a double chop. Ramon nails Leone with an axehandle and then the Rougeaus finish with Les Bombe des Les Rougeau. Rougeaus then hint towards heel turn as they grab Rick Gantner and nail him with Les Bombe des Les Rougeaus. * Interview stand with DeGeorge. This week it's Heenan and Rude. Rude gives a woman a Rude Awakening. Oh yeah, he talks about Jake too. Hulk Hogan vs Boris Zuhkov: This is it folks. Hulk's last televised match before he goes off to Hollywood. Hogan charges in and the Russians double team Hogan. Hulk fights back with a knogen knocker. Hogan with rights on Boris and it's the corner clothesline. Hogan whips Zuhkov into the ropes, but Boris comes off with a boot to Hogan. Boris with punching, kicking and all. Bodyslam and it's Hulk up time! 3 punches, whip into the corner. Hogan with the big boot. Bodyslam and Big legdrop finishes it. Volkoff in and he gets slammed and legdropped. Slick in and he gets atomic dropped out of the ring and Hulkster poses. Hogan gone, but to return on a special interview later on on this tape. ½* April 22, 1988 in Springfield, MA Civic Center Shown April 30, 1988 on NBC Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura. This show is the post WM 4 show and this was to see how well Savage would draw in his first title defense on national tv. I think it went well. We go to the back and Gene Okerlund is with Hercules, Heenan and Andre. The Family is one for all and all for one! "Jigsaw" Jim is going to have a lot of missing pieces. What does Andre think about Duggan you ask? Andre: "HOOO!!!" Jim Duggan interview. He wants revenge on Andre for what happened at WM 4. Okerlund with a nice analogy: "Duggan handles the lumber like Don Mattingly. But can he handle the screwball in the Heenan Family?" Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Hercules: Vince: "Look at this! HOOOO!!!!" Jesse: "I knew it. I knew somewhere along the line Ed McMahon was your illegitimate son!" HAHA! That is classic. For those that don't get it, Ed McMahon used to yell "HIYOOOO!!!" Both men lock up and Hercules starts with the upper hand as he pounds Duggan down with rights and boots. Hercules whips Duggan into the buckle, but Duggan reverses and catches Herc. with a clothesline. Atomic drop and then an elbow sends Hercules out to regroup with his mentor. Duggan slingshots him in and nails him with a back drop. Knee drop misses. Hercules and Duggan then slug it out and Hercules is thrown into the ropes, but Hercules ducks the clothesline and catches Duggan with a hard elbow to the jaw. Heenan gets a few cheapshots in and that prompts Jigsaw Jim to chase Heenan with the 2x4 and take a stand in the ring with it. Back from commercial as Hercules is destroying Duggan. BEARHUG TIME!! Duggan fights out, but Hercules keeps Duggan down. Jesse: "That is the ugliest face I have ever seen." Vince: "Look at some of your old matches Jess." Sounds like Jesse and McMahon are having a nice night no? Slugfest and Duggan gets the 10 punches and then a hiptoss. 3 point stance and Duggan goes for the pin! But Bobby Heenan jumps in for the DQ and the Heenan family destroys Jigsaw Jim. Andre gets a lot of shots in on him. Warrior eventually saves. Not a bad match, but not a real good one either. * Jimmy Hart and Danny Davis interview. Jimmy does all the talking and they have their ring necessities! The shears! The clippers! The scissors! And the RAZOR! Jimmy says he's a butcher man! So that's where Leslie got the gimmick from. Brutus Beefcake retorts and he will finish the job. Davis will get the full treatment! Brutus the Barber Beefcake vs Dangerous Danny Davis: Why the hell do we have to have this?? Oh yeah the Jimmy Hart and Beefcake thing. Damn that sucks. Lockup to start and Beefcake overpowers Danny. Davis and Beefer get into a little slugfest and Beefcake wins that and messes with Danny's hair. Hiptoss by Beefcake, but Davis fights back. Beefcake catches Danny with a boot then it's time for the struttin! It could be time for cuttin! Sleeper and Beefcake wins. Afterwards, haircut city for Danny and then Beefcake spray paints Danny's hair white. That was just a waist of show as it could've been on Superstars dammit. DUD Slick and One Man Gang have words for the World title match. Slick: "That belt beloooooongs to one man! The One Man Gang!" Slick ruled as did his promo. Randy Savage and Liz are interviewed. The heat is on and the Madness will be all over the Gang yeah!! Macho Man Randy Savage vs One Man Gang: TRIVIATA: This is the first WWF World Title defense by the Macho Man on television. Slick hits on Liz and Randy chases. Back from commercial and both men lockup. Gang uses all his strength to dominate the match. Whip into the corner, Savage dodges Gang and nails him with a hard elbow. Off the ropes and Savage nails Gang with a flying bodypress for 2. To the top rope and Savage with another flying bodypress for 2. Savage with the top rope clothesline job on Gang for 2. Gang comes back and chokes Savage down. Slick hits on Liz and Savage grabs for Slick. Gang keeps on the onslaught with axehandles and rights. Slick: "Don't put your hands on my clothes homeboy, I'll knock you out fool!" Elbowdrop gets 2 for Gang as Savage is taking a pounding. Avalanche in the corner misses and Savage makes a comeback. He clotheslines the Gang out and comes off the top rope with a double axehandle. Back in, Savage tries again but Gang catches him coming down. 747 splash misses. Slick again with the distractions. This distracts the referee and Slick tries to nail Savage with the cane, but Randy moves and Slick nails the Gang. Savage scales to the top rope and delivers the flying elbow drop for the win. This was an awesome match, better than their WM 4 match. **½ Bulldogs will make sure nothing happens to Matilda. We now go backstage for an interview with Demolition. Their dipping Matilda in chrome and mounting her on Fuji's Winnebago. Demolition vs British Bulldogs: This is non title. Smash and Davey start and Smash starts off the match in typical Demolition fashion as he pounds Davey into the mat. Davey whipped into the ropes and makes a blind tag, confusing Smash and Dynamite catches Smash with his patent stiff clothesline. Snap suplex attempt, but Demos cheat to take over. Hey man if you're not cheating, you're not trying. Backbreaker by Smash gets 2. Bearhug, but Dyno escapes. Smash with a slam attempt, but Dynamite goes for a rollup and fails. Elbowdrop by Smash misses. Demos however proceed to pound away on Dyno in the corner. Smash whips Dyno in the corner, but eats boot on a charge. Hot tag Davey who is on fire. Bodyslams and dropkicks for all and then Dyno is tagged back in (?!). That goes bad for the faces as the Ax knocks Dyno out of the ring. Fuji tries to get a cheapshot in, but here's Davey with Matilda. Bulldogs chase Fuji to the back and we go to commercial. Back from the break and Bulldogs have pieces of Fuji's cane and they kick Demolition ass for a DQ. Great match, lame ending. ** Don Muraco and Billy Graham interview. Rock will take a piece of Dibiase. Dibiase and Virgil retort. Dibiase will once again be champion! Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase vs The Rock Don Muraco: Rematch from Wrestlemania 4 and the winner here becomes number 1 contender for World Title. Dibiase is pissed so he attacks Muraco right away wit h rights and chops. Dibiase whips Muraco into the ropes, but Don reverses and catches Ted with a backdrop. Muraco destroys Ted and Ted bails to regroup. Back in Dibiase nails Muraco with a hiptoss, but misses an elbowdrop. Don with a clothesline and then a big powerslam for 2 as Dibiase got his foot on the ropes. Dibiase comes back with a clothesline of his own for 2. Suplex gets 2 and then it's time for some good old fistdrops from Dibiase. Gut wrench suplex gets 2. Muraco makes a comeback and nails a powerslam for 2. Muraco has the advantage, but Dibiase nails Don in the midsection and bodyslams him. Dibiase with the pin, but Muraco has his feet on the ropes. No use, ref. didn't see it and it's a win for Ted. Another good match! **1/4 Macho Man speaks about his match. Macho Man was on fire and Dibiase will wind up bankrupt yeah! Ravishing Rick Rude vs Koko B. Ware: This should be solid. Rude: "Cut the music. What I'd like to have right now is for all you coyote ugly little boys to keep the noise down and let the ladies see my Ravishing body. Hit the music!" Rude is a house of fire with right hands, but Koko comes back with dropkicksand right hands. Rude however takes over with a thumb to the eye when the referee tried to break them up. Suplex and fistdrop by Rude get 2. Rude with a dropkick for 2. A 2nd one misses and it's come back time for Koko. Big backbody drop by Koko. Koko charges into the ropes, but misses a charge and hits the ropes. Rude Awakening and the win for Rick Rude. This was fun. *1/2 Macho Man Randy Savage vs Virgil: Virgil attacks with rights and axehandles and he proceeds to kick Savage's ass. Dibiase gets cheapshots in on Randy. Bodyslam and Virgil goes for a splash off the top rope (!!), but misses. Savage mounts a come back. Knee to the back of Virgil. 2x axehandle off the top rope and a bodyslam by Savage. Savage is about to finish Virgil, but Dibiase distracts Savage and Randy chases. Dibiase pulls Liz in front of him to piss everyone off! Virgil regains the advantage with an axehandle and throws Randy back in. Elbow gets 2. Clothesline gets 2. Outside, Virgil and Dibiase bribe Liz with money. Just then Savage leaps from the top rope and nails Virgil with a 2x axehandle outside. Clothesline knocks Dibiase down. Back in and Randy drops Virgil throat first on the top rope. Flying Elbow by Savage gets 3. Afterwards, Dibiase clotheslines Savage down and it's a double team. They kick Randy's ass and stuff a C note into Savage's mouth. KICK ASS FEUD! AND GREAT MATCH! *** Greg the Hammer Valentine vs Jim Evans: Match is mainly notable because this is the first appearance of the heartbreaker shinguard. It is really bugging me!" Anvil was classic. This has been UPDATE. Event Center with Gene Okerlund. Slick has words for Bigelow as it will be the One Man Gang who will win. Ron Bass says bring it JYD! JYD then does a kick ass promo. Interview stand with DeGeorge. Greg Valentine is the guest and they yap about his shinguard. 1988 will be his year! Hammer on the road to the gold baby!! Ted Dibiase vs Buck Zumhoffe: Dibiase is on the warpath with rights and all. He is vicious as he wants Savage. Outside the ring we go and it's a bodyslam. Back in 2nd rope axehandle by Ted. Clothesline and it's the Million Dollar Dream and victory for Dibiase. * Interview Stand with DeGeorge. He has the Rougeaus as his guests. They do a FUNNY interview. Ramon: "You Craig, let me tell you a story. During our time..." Jacques: "Fabulous time." Ramon: "Fabulous time in the United States, people have booed us. We are from Montreal like Dino Bravo, but we don't like Dino Bravo. We have had a great time..." Jacques: "Fabulous time." Ramon: "Fabulous time traveling the United States. We have seen it all from the Washington Memorial and the Lincoln Monument." Jacques: " And to show how much we love the United States, we have a present for you." They pull out flags and Jacques says stuff in French and leads a USA chant. This REALLY started the hell turn and it was a classic promo. Greg Valentine vs J.T. Thomas: Valentine destroys J.T. as the kid hardly gets anything in. Valentine with the usual including his Hammer elbows. Valentine eventually wins with the figure four leglock. 1/4* Danny Davis vs Brady Boone: JIP as Davis nails Brady Boone with a suplex for 2. Davis stomps away and Boone fights back. Spin kick and a kneelift gets 2. Flying elbow for 2. Bodyslam and the dropkick gets 2 for Brady Boone who is a house of fire. Sadly Davis extinguishes Boone. Davis wins with a whoopy cushion off the top rope ala Doink. Fun little match. *1/2 Demolition vs Young Stallions: Non title match. Typical Demolition start as they kick Young Stallion ass. Roma whipped into the ropes by Smash, but a blind tag is made confusing Smash and Jim Powers hits a dropkick. Stallions work the arm of Smash with axehandles and legdrops. Smash comes back and the Demos destroy Jim Powers. They nail him with everything but the kitchen sink! Bodyslam by Ax gets 2. Smash in and he whips Powers into the corner, but Smash eats foot on the charge. Smash and Powers are both down! Hot tag to Roma and he goes nuts. Body slams and dropkicks for everyone. Clotheslines too. Sunset flip onto Ax for 2. Smash comes in and clotheslines Roma. Referee is distracted by Powers and Demos try to finish Roma off with the cane, but here's Strike Force to stop that. Demolition wins by DQ. Too short. * Event Center with Sean Mooney. Rude feels secure with the Heenan Family. Danny Davis, Pete Sanchez and Chris Curtis vs Sam Houston and the Fabulous Rogeaus: Rougeau heel turn is developed more. In their pre-match promo they say they will take a young inexperienced kid (Houston) under their wing. Classic.Sanchez and Houston start with Pete attacking and having the upperhand with rights and eyerakes. Houston comes back with a dropkick. Davis nails Houston from outside to turn the tide and Danny Davis is in and he does his usual stuff to Sam Houston. Davis with clotheslines, a suplex and elbowdrops. Tag to Chris Curtis and that is the mistake as Houston makes the tag to Ramon. He gets a clothesline and then a suplex of his own. Damn I guess he had no idea what to do. Tag to Jacques and Jacques with a flying elbow. Abdominal stretch leads to the Savat kick from Ramon. Houston in and he gets a head scissors, but the Rougeaus call him over to tag out. Double standing backdrop and then the Rougeaus finish Curtis with the Doomsday Device. Afterwards, they nail Pete Sanchez with Les Bombe des Les Rougeaus. Sam Houston and the crowd are confused as to why the Rougeaus have been so vicious as of late. *1/4 Ted Dibiase vs Brady Boone: Dibiase attacks with rights and chops and it seems like HE is determined to kick everyone's ass on his way to Savage. Whip is reversed by Boone and Brady gets 3 dropkicks in for 2. Dibiase comes back with a clothesline and he slows things down. Suplex and then 2nd rope axehandle. Couple elbowdrops followed by a powerslam. Million Dollar Dream finishes it. *1/2 Sam Houston vs Barry Horowitz: Barry attacks with a body slam and is on fire. Bam Bam Bigelow warns the One Man Gang that when you play with fire, you get burned! Interview stand with Craig DeGeorge. His guest is Bad News Brown and Brown is his usual badass self. He is ready to destroy the Harts. Scott Casey vs Dino Bravo: The debut of Frenchy Martin's "USA IS NOT OKAY!" sign. Sott Casey gets a quick 2 count off a crossbody block. Bravo comes back with a bodyslam and a few elbowdrops. Casey fights back with chops and goes for a monkey flip in the corner, but Bravo nails an inverted atomic drop on him and gets a piledriver for 2. Side suplex finishes it. Casey tried, but Bravo sucks. 1/4* Event Center with Mooney. George Steele with his promo: "Danny...you...fired...referee...now...mine...mine...fire...you...wrestler.. .neah!" George Steele had a stuffed animal that he named MINE for those curious. Strike Force are interviewed and Martel says something in French. I think this means he is telling everyone he is taking time off!!! Who knows! Big Bossman vs Louis Spicolli: This is the debut for Bossman. His pre-match promo: "SKULL!!" That was the one word he uttered. Right away Spicolli tries to be friends with Bossman, but Bossman greets him with a boot. Bossman slugs away and nails him with a clothesline. Headbutt and spine buster then follow. Bossman Slam wins it. Afterwards, Bossman beats a confession out of Spicolli. ½* Event Center with Mooney. Promo time from Dibiase. Savage's account is overdrawn and Dibiase is gonna collect! Valentine tells Muraco he will lose. Bret Hart vs Jerry Allen: Here's that Jimmy Hart again. Hitman tells him to leave, but he won't. Anvil is here and IT'S OFFICIAL! JIMMY HART FIRED BY THE HART FOUNDATION!! Allen attacks and whips Bret into the corner and goes for a reverse bodypress, only for Hitman to duck. Bret goes to work with elbows, rights, backbreaker, the usual offense. Backbreaker gets 2. Elbow sets up the piledriver for the win. Great moment. *1/4 Greg The Hammer Valentine vs Rikki Ataki: Hammer starts off with chops then goes with his big forearms and drops the big hammers. Elbowdrops follow shortly after. Shoulderbreaker and time to soften the legs. Suplex and bodyslam follow next. Backsuplex and Hammer turns the shinguard around and wins with the figure four leglock. After the match, Hammer slaps on the figure four AGAIN and punishes Ataki. Muraco comes out and nails Hammer with an elbowdrop. Hammer is out of the ring. Hart spits on Muraco, promting Muraco to chase him to the back. BIG mistake as Hammer clotheslines Billy Graham! Elbowdrops and the figure four is slapped on. After a long while in the hold, Muraco comes out to chase Valentine away. This was the LAST appearance for Graham as Muraco's manager. Nice moment. * Rockers vs The Intruder and Iron Mike Sharpe: This is the Rockers debut! Shawn and Mike Sharpe start and the Rockers establish themselves as tag team specialists with all the moves that they do like dropkicks, double maneuvers, etc. Crossbody block by Michaels gets 2 and Jannetty in with a dropkick. Intruder comes in and he gets armdragged by Jannetty. They work the arm over in Rockers fashion, ending with a slingshot legdrop by Michaels. Shawn with a neckbreaker and suplex on the Intruder followed by a flying fist off the top ropes. Tag to Jannetty and Shawn slams Marty on top of the Intruder for the win. Solid debut and the Rockers are over.......with canned heat. *1/4 Jake Roberts vs The Conquistador: Jake works the Conquistador over with a headlock and destroys him with rights. The Conquistador comes back with eyerakes and cheats like all heels do with chokes and all. Conquistador with a hiptoss, but Jake gets one of his own. Chinlock! Come on Jake no chinlocks in a squash! Kneelift leads to a short arm clothesline. DDT and Jake wins it. We also had a promo during the match with Cheryl Roberts, man was she HOT! * Ted Dibiase vs Lanny Poffo: A poem from Poffo of course. Poffo is on the offense right away, but Dibiase clotheslines Poffo out of his shoes! Dibiase works him over with elbowdrops and the usual. Poffo thrown to the outside, where Dibiase hiptoss him in anger on the concrete! Badass! Sorry marking out. Back in and Dibiase nails Poffo with a knee. 3 fistdrops followed by a clothesline. Million Dollar Dream and it's over for Savage's brother. *1/2 Bossman is in a jail cell and tells all of us welcome to his house and he is the ruler! Interview Stand with DeGeorge. He has Bobby Heenan, Andre, Rude, and Hercules. All the Heenan family right? WRONG! Heenan announces that King Harley Race has advocated the throne and all his stuff. A Search for a new king will go on. This promo is complete with a moment of silence. This was weird as they treated it like a death. Too weird. Demolition vs Lanny Poffo and Jerry Allen: Poffo with another poem: "Demolitions' long title reign has not impressed. Without Mr. Fuji, Demoltion wouldn't know how to get dressed!" HAHA. This pisses Demolition off and Smash goes to work on Lanny. Demolition with a double clothesline and Lanny takes a long shit kicking. Ax in and it's a powerslam. Smash in and he whips Poffo into the corner, but eats boot. Allen in but he doesn't get anything in as he gets clotheslined. Decapitation and it's over. * Event Center with Mooney. Slick and the Russians are interviewed and they are WORRIED as they don't know shit about POP. Promo from Steele and it's just like the one from before. Brother Love Segment! This aint the debut. I wish I had it. To let you know, Bobby Heenan was the first EVER Brother Love guest. This is the SECOND segment though and it is apropos. Why? Well Brother Love intros Dibiase and Virgil. Why is this kinda significant? Brother Love tells us all that Dibiase is the BENEFACTOR. Dibiase is the reason the show will be around. AND EVERYBODY'S GOT A PRICE FOR THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN!! DAHAAAAHAAAHAAAHAAAAHAAAAAHAAA!!!! Sorry marking out again. UPDATE from the pages of the WWF Magazine here's UPDATE with Lord Alfred Hayes. Recap of the Heenan interview about Race complete wit h March 88 SNME clip. Heenan tells us a new king will be found. Just wait! This has been UPDATE. Hart Foundation vs Brady Boone and S.D. Jones: This is the first Harts tag match without the Mouth I think. The Harts just totally destroy S.D. Jones. Bret pounds with his elbows and right hands. He nails a wish bone legdrop and then a backbreaker. Anvil in and he chokes S.D. out. Hart back in and he plays possum, acting like he hurt his knee on a leapfrog when suddenly Anvil just clotheslines S.D. from behind for a pop. TRIVIATA: Anvil played for the Oakland Raiders! Hitman in and it's a dropkick on S.D. Jones then avoids a backdrop by leapfrogging over the Hitman and tag made to Brady Boone. Boone with a dropkick and flying elbow. Boone crotches himself in the Harts corner to turn the tide. Harts use heel tactics and then Bret throws Anvil shoulder first into Boone in the corner. Hart Attack and Hart Foundation wins. Good match. *1/2 Fabulous Rougeaus vs Killer Bees: Historic match for the Rougeaus here. Both teams shake hands. The match is a lot of mat wrestling at first with armdrags, fireman carries, drop toeholds, etc. B. Brian Blair in and he avoids a backdrop and nails Ramon with a drop toe hold, but Ramon dodges. Brunzell and Jacques in and more mat wrestling stuff. Jacques with a rollup as he outsmarted Brunzell. He shakes hands.........nope Jacques fakes it drawing boos. Brunzell then outsmarts Jacques with mat wrestling stuff and then pretends to shake Jacques' hand, but messes with his hair. Rougeaus aren't happy. Blair in and he gets Jacques down with a powerslam. Rougeaus then take over on Blair after a missed elbowdrop. and work his back with forearms. Abdominal stretch and savat kick. Rougeaus miss with a double dropkick and Blair tags out to Brunzell. Brunzell goes nuts with clotheslines and a backdrop on Ramon. He nails Ramon with forearms TO HIS BACK. Nice. Dropkick and the count is interrupted by Jacques. Rougeaus then cheat as Brunzell comes off the ropes and Jacques trips him. That gets 2. Brunzell gets advantage and goes for a slam, but Jacques comes off the top ropes with a forearm to the back for 3. Bees and the crowd are pissed as the evil French Canadians have now cemented their heel turn!! ** Event Center with Mooney. Abdominal stretch and savat kick lead to Les Bombe des Les Rougeaus. * Powers of Pain vs Tony Ulysses and Iron Mike Sharpe: This is the POP debut! Mr. Fuji is in the aisle taking pictures and Slick is looking on from the crowd. Scouting no doubt. Barbarian and Sharpe try to overpower each other with shoulder blocks, but Barbarian gets upperhand. Ulysses in and he gets an eyerake, but Barbarian counters with the big boot. Warlord in as is Sharpe. Sharpe tries 2 clotheslines to no avail and Sharpe gets nailed with a powerslam. Headbutt off the top ropes by Barbarian ends it. Not a good debut match. 1/4* Event Center with Mooney. Here we go with the promos. Demolition states that Bulldogs aint stand a chance in any kind of match with Demolition. Andre the Giant comments on his lumberjack match wit h Duggan. He says he is mad and ready to destroy Duggan. Rougeau Brothers clown on the Hart Foundation and tell them be ready to wrestle! Solid * And now Interview stand with DeGeorge. His guest is Savage and Liz. Savage recaps the last time he was attacked by Dibiase and Andre. He promises that won't happen again because he has a tag team partner. It's the greatest partner anyone could ever have and it's HULK HOGAN! Hogan returns and agrees to team with Savage to combat Dibiase and Andre. But the Mega Powers storyline takes a nice little turn. Hogan: "We are now fighting for the same lady brother!...........She's my lady to!" This is when the storyline REALLY became interesting as hell. Megabucks respond and say they aren't afraid. They are ready and they aren't scared. Andre: "Welcome back ex-champ!" UPDATE from the pages of the WWF Magazine here's UPDATE with Gene Okerlund. Summerslam 88 report! Promos from Harts who say they are ready to get the belts back! Rude says 2 Rude Awakenings will occur. End of tape. Final Say: Lots of interesting stuff here. The angles and all say it. Bass-JYD, Duggan-Andre, Patera-Bravo, Hammer-Muraco, Rougeaus-Bees, Demos-Tito (w/him picking any partner), Rude-Roberts, Hart-Brown. My god what the fuck was Vince smoking! Albeit, the ppv might've been bad, but COME ON!!! BLOW OFF THE FEUDS TO MAKE THE PEOPLE SATISFIED!! SummerSlam 88 was good though, just bad that no feuds blown off. Good tape. Buy it!! Next Up: A Compilation of Owen Hart matches from Japan I bought off of ebay. But, like WWE storylines, that could change at anytime. If I DO do something else, expect a 1987 compilation or more 1988. Feedback Appreciated. Edited June 22, 2003 by DarkHollywood
