For some reason I've been really wanting to read this for a while.

I don't really know why. I'm sure heaps of people here have read it, can you justify my curiousity??

I had to read the Inferno and at least part of the Purgatorio a couple of years ago.

The Inferno is excellent, as long as you have someone or something explaining how everything Dante wrote is pretty clever and makes perfect sense.

In some ways, it compares to Vergil's Aeneid, of which Dante was a big fan. Vergil is even a big character in the first two parts. The Aeneid, though (IMO), is much more bland and humorless, an area where Dante is pretty wicked.

I enjoyed this over everything else I had to read that year - Gilgamesh, Don Quixote, The Odyssey, Aeneid, part of The Canterbury Tales among otherse.

Divine Comedy is one of my favorite classics of all time. It's right up there with The Odyssy and Milton's Paradise Lost.

Canterbury Tales and The Faerie Queen are excellent as well. So is Beowulf.

Shit, just read all of those.

I've read Homer's Trilogy already, I'm a bit of a Greek myth nut for one reason or another. I still don't know what has drawn me to want to read this, but I found the full 3-in-1 volume today for $25 so when I get up to the snow I will immerse myself into The Inferno. I look forward to it greatly

It's a good book and that's coming from someone who's not a big fan of reading. It's quite a long book, but it's actually a quick read.

Hey Nanks!

You said you are a Greek myths fan...

Have you tried Frank Miller's 300 ?

Right now I think its out there in a hardcover.

Its a Comic Book Miller did a few years ago, is great, its about the war between Spartans and... some other group. Its a good story, if you read Frank Miller's The Big Fat Kill, in one issue hi speak about Spartans vs ThisOtherGroup, well, a few years later he finally wrote the story.

Its beautiful illustrated by Miller and his wife.
