Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Raw House show WWE Unleashed June 21, 2003 Hartford Civic Center Hartford, Connecticut Report by: Christian Balnius http://www.prowrestlingforum.com # Match One: Scott Steiner d. Test -Test was able to get in a lot of offense, including a pumphandle slam, but Steiner picked up the victory after the Flatliner. Stacy Keibler was not at ringside for either man, and at the end of the match, Steiner grabbed the mic and asked Test if he had talked to Stacy lately. # Match Two: Christian (w/ Chris Jericho) d. Booker T -This match was for the Intercontinental Title, and began with Christian featured in Jericho's Highlight Reel. One fan nearby, a dead ringer for Booker T except about half his size, called Jericho an asshole at the beginning of the segment, and Jericho began to shoot on him, claiming that while this guy thinks Jericho's an asshole, every person he's met in Hartford is as well. Hard to admit, it's mostly true. Christian was about to prove that he was the best at the Spinaroonie when Booker's music hit, and they went right into the match. Booker T was pinned when Jericho got involved and held Booker's feet down, but he was later saved by Val Venis, who challenged Jericho for a match later on in the night. # Match Three: Goldust d. Rico -And I thought Goldust was the weird one. The fans had a lot of heat for Rico, who filled the match with pole dances on the two large spotlights and the turnbuckles and gyrating in the ring. After the pinfall, Goldust mocked Rico. # Match Four: Randy Orton d. Maven -Although I'm a big Maven fan, this was probably the poorest match on the card, and not just because of the match's loser. Orton botched a terrible bulldog from the top rope, as Maven came down and barely touched him before Orton flopped down and oversold the move. Regardless, Orton was able to capture the pinfall with his diamond cutter. # Match Five: Jazz (w/ Theodore Long, Rodney Mack & Christopher Nowinski) drew Victoria (w/ Steven Richards) -A very, very quick match. The security guards began letting the first three floor rows of fans to the ringside area to slap hands and take photos, but the one guy that guarded our section was really, really strict. Although a majority of the people in my section in the first three rows (I was in the fourth row) did not stand up and crowd the area, the guard would not let anyone else pass, even grabbing little kids and telling them to return to their seats. Not cool; a lot of those children were visibly upset. Anywho, the match went to a draw less than ten seconds after the start when Long's group jumped Victoria and Richards. The Dudley Boyz and Spike came out for the save, which led to... # Match Six: Dudley Boyz (w/ Spike Dudley) d. Christopher Nowinski & Rodney Mack (w/ Theodore Long) -The crowd was really, really behind the Dudley Boyz, and really into this match. A good match at nearly twelve minutes, the Dudley Boyz were able to pick up the victory. After the match, they brought a small kid into the ring and posed with him while Spike used his camera to take photos - a real classy move, and the kid loved it. D-Von then ran around the floor seats and slapped hands with the fans before the intermission. # Match Seven: La Resistance d. Kane & Rob Van Dam -A World Tag Team Title match, La Resistance were able to defeat the former champions when RVD hit a missile dropkick accidentally on Kane. Upset, Kane left right away, not allowing RVD to apologize. It was interesting to note that the Tag Titles still had RVD and Kane's names on them. # Match Eight: Chris Jericho d. Val Venis -An impromptu match that surprised many of us, Jericho was able to win with the Walls of Jericho. A hard fought match and a strong effort from Venis, it was probably the most technically sound match on the card. After, Venis got out of the ring and gave his white towel to a beautiful lady in the front row. # Match Nine: Tommy Dreamer & The Hurricane d. Lance Storm & Rosey -The crowd really jumped on the "Lance Storm is Boring" bandwagon for this one. The Hurricane and Dreamer had a lot of fun, toying with their opponents and mocking them at any chance they could get. At the beginning of the match, Dreamer and Hurricane even lay down in the ring and pretended to sleep. They slapped hands with the fans after the match. # Match Ten: HHH d. Kevin Nash in a Street Fight -I've never seen a match that didn't actually follow the rules of its stipulation. This was the first time. The only foreign objects brought into the ring were the steel ringsteps that were used for all of a minute when Nash teased a Jackknife Powerbomb, and the microphone cord. A chair was used as well, but that's not really even a foreign object anymore. The match was won -- quite quickly, I might add, only at about eight minutes -- when Randy Orton returned and attacked Nash, and allowed HHH to get the pinfall. Kane came out at the end to save Nash, and left Orton and HHH lying on the canvas as they left. After the bell, HHH and Orton stood up, with Hunter grabbing the mic and telling the fans, "I just want you to know, Randy and I are okay." They then were about to leave, but HHH had a better idea, giving Randy the chance to get in the ring one last time and give the ladies a chance to take pictures of him. He then got out of the ring, where he made his way over to four ladies in their late-teens, and gave them the chance to touch his abs. Odd, yes, but funny nonetheless - the girls were all very excited. Sorry for the brief results -- I go to wrestling shows to have fun, not to type up four-and-a-half page, move-by-move results for wrestling websites when I get nothing in return. Before the show, I saw Christian and Bubba Ray Dudley arrive together, Lance Storm and Hurricane arrive together, Test arrive with whom I'm assuming was a road agent, and Jazz walking through the parking area. A solid event; the competitors had a lot of fun, and the fans had a lot of fun as well, judging from the reaction. It was also noteworthy that the top sections of the Civic Center were empty; only the first section and the floor seats were filled, with the only exception being the row behind me being completely empty (all 14 seats). Definitely not a sell-out, but not too bad - at about half the capacity, this puts the total near 8000. Smackdown hanks to "Hammer U.C." for the following report: I went to the Smackdown house show tonight at the MCI Center in Washington DC and thought I would give you some results and info: I would say that the crowd was about half full. The upper deck of the building was completely blocked off and about 30% of my section was filled. Now for some of my rants about the WWE house show product: 1. Update your freaking program. According to the program Raven, DLo Brown, Jeff Hardy, and Bull Buchanan still works for them. Oh and Billy and Chuck are a tag team. 2. Maybe this is from being at so many shows with Smartmark and RF video booths but how can you have a merchandise stand without videos, books, or DVD's. Was hoping to pick up the Shawn Michaels one. For the results: 1. Torrie Wilson defeated Nidia with Dawn Marie as the ref (OMG a Dawn Marie sighting) and Sable as the ring announcer. Torrie wins with a rollup after leapfrog Nidia charge in the ropes. After the match Dawn and Nidia with a little help from Sable but Torrie and pulled Sable pants down to show the thong. 2. Spanky beat Shannon Moore with a backslide after Sliced Bread #2 was reversed by Moore. Two trends developed in this show: really conservative wrestling and Matt Hardy group losing. I think I saw more headlocks in one show than in the last 2 years of indy wrestling I have watched. No highflying by any cruiserweight tonight at all in this one but very solid mat wrestling. 3. Orlando Jordan beat Crash Holly with some sort of a version of a stunner. 4. Rhyno & Rikishi beat Palumbo & Stamboli (with Nunizo in the corner) when Rikishi flattened Palumbo I think after Stamboli was gored by Rhyno. I must say Rikishi is really over with the fans and so is Rhyno in a small way. After the match Nunzio got the stinkface and the fans got to see a really fat guy dance. But they loved watching it. 5. Billy Gunn with Torrie beat John Cena with the Fameasser. Cena was great on the mic ripping the crappy sports teams in DC. 6. Billy Kidman beat Matt Hardy & Jaime Noble (who called himself by his old By God Jaime Noble the Redneck Messiah) in a triple threat match supposedly for the #1 contender to cruiserweight title (yeah right). Both Matt and Jaime worked tried to work together to take out Kidman but eventually they fought with each other. Forgot the finisher but I think it was a reversal by Billy to pin Hardy. 7. Tajiri & Eddy beat Albert & Sean O Haire (no Piper) to retain the title when Tajiri sprayed green mist in Albert eyes and Eddy gave O Hair the frog splash. 8. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit defeating Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, and Big Show when Angle made Haas tap to the ankle lock. Lesnar was supposed to be in this match but obviously with the injured leg that wasn't happening. After the match Angle wanted Benoit to "hug" like "bros" that they were. Benoit reluctantly did and Angle grabbed his ass. Then Angle said there was nothing wrong with it and want Chris to "tap that ass". Pretty funny stuff at the end. Overall an okay show. Didn't get to see Mysterio or Ultimo Dragon which I wanted but a solid show.

The bitchfest on this board, especially by Anglesault, would be a sight to see. or not.

Definitely not a sell-out, but not too bad - at about half the capacity, this puts the total near 8000. It was actually Maven's fault, he slipped coming off the ropes, and landed on Orton's back shoving him down. It looked worse than Gayda 02. And the Civic Center was barely 1/3 full. I'd say 4,000 people. My report was better
