What would you want in a TNA video game?

Recommended Posts

Guest bps "The Truth" 21

If you ever read Borash's column or Bob Ryder's TNA from backstage column you may have noticed that every week they say something about how they have "liscensing agreements" and whatever and that they will have announcements about DVDs, merchandise, action figures, video games and whatever else "Soon"

Those announcements never come...but we had a neat thread about what action figures you would make...so now let's do one for video game.

First of all...I would want AKI to make it as a true sequel to No Mercy...since everyone (myself included) likes that fighting system better than anything that WWE games have had in some time. Def Jam Vendetta sold so well...that it shows you don't need WWE liscence to sell...just a good game.

So...who would you want in the game? What kind of matches (since TNA only has ladder, cage (now), and Raven's clockwork orange house of fun, hardcore with math too!).

Imagine the movesets for some of these guys?

Well?

Please don't let it be Acclaim making it...

Please don't let it be Acclaim making it...

Please don't let it be Acclaim making it...

Somehow I have a feeling Acclaim will be making it and when that announcement comes it will all be down the drain.

We NEED a heel section, of course. With signs, seperate chants and T-Shirts.

They could include all the one/short-time appearance guys like Vader, the LOD, Volkoff, Steamboat (OMG!), Duggan etc. as secret characters who challenge you from time to time during season mode and if you beat them, you get to play them.

Heart-attack shilling by Don West to start the shows is a given.

You start doing dark matches and then move on to Explosion and finally the weekly PPVs. I always love that in wrestling games.

Maybe they could even include some of the indy promotions who share some of the same guys like ROH and Wildside. Hey, one can dream right?

I'm sure I'll have more later.

I think you were right in the other thread.

as bad as the Hard 10 is...It might make an interesting match in a video game.

I will say this. If someone actually releases a good TNA game it will help them alot, because people will buy it and then they might order TNA.

Damn straight.

They could even throw in a rebate for a free episode of TNA included in the game.

Things like this are the best kind of promotion...because if it's good...people would be wrapped into the product. If they can get the moves down for guys like Red, XXX, Styles and stuff people would probably want to see the real guys doing those awesome moves.

I think it could be great. My favourite mode to play against a friend in wrestling games is usually the Iron Man match, because most of the times it gets really dramatic and intense when the time is running up. Hard 10 could be just as dramatic.

I'll also once again mention how great it would be to actually have the complete movesets of innovative guys like Skipper, Styles and Low-Ki in the game.

Oh, and we can't forget the XXX entrance, which pretty much rules all.

If it was multi-console then the XBox version should allow for custom soundtracks...cause some of the TNA music is poop.

An amazing create a wrestler feature that allows you to make a shit load of wrestlers. The one thing that annoyed me with SM: SYM was that you can only have 30 CAWs...I filled them all up in the first month of having the game.

I want downloadable content to for PS2. We could download each others created wrestlers and they could release new wrestlers and moves for the game like Spike did for Firepro D.

Online play.

This game would sell...and I mean SELL a ton if they made a good game...and then made it the first Wrestling game to be playable online.

There's a hook

Raw 2 is supposed to have online play I think. A TNA game won't come out before that.

I hadn't read that.

Right. RAW 2 wont have online play. THQ said its too complicated at this point.

I would want them to included alot of indy guys as secrets. Or they could have like "If you want to be in this game, just sign a waiver and pay 50 dollars" or something. And we could have alot of indy guys in the game and they would pop up at anytime during the season mode like they do in real life. I like the way SD2's season mode is. I hate how they try to make a wrestling game into a roleplaying game. I dont mind if I am Al Snow and have to fight my way up from Heat to the PPVs. But if I am Austin, I dont want to start off at house shows like in Attitude.

They could have a shitload of wrestlers cheaply. I mean, come on. If they ask you "Hey, we'll give you money so we can use your likeness and get your name out to other people" would you say no?

The roster should be divided ala WCW/NWO Revnge. You've got X-Division, Legends, etc. Each time you beat season mode as someone, you open up a new wrestler. Steamabaot, Road Warriors, etc. could all be in the game.

The control should be Smackdown like, to fit the X-Division.

I can see the developers of LOW making a TNA game. I mean, how can there be a LOW3? All legends accounted for.

Oh god, please not. I hate that game. And their gameplay mechanics and horrible animations wouldn't fit the X-Division style at all.

Remember on WCW Nitro for the original playstation? The wrestlers would cut a promo after you pressed the O button in the select screen. With TNA large roster, that option alone would make this game money in da bank!

No, I bought Tunder for that exact reason! Kevin Nash-" Whoa, don't pick me, etc."

Piper-"PICK ME!"

I think the most important feature would have to be, as most people have said that pretty much any wrestler outside of WWE would be available.

You could have a booker's option and you could bring in guys for one time deals and so forth like in EWR.

An option to divide the roster up into factions or not, then you could tool around with who's in SEX and Tradition and Team Extreme and such or you could just play with everyone for themselves.

This one might annoy some, but you could have wildcard manager types like Russo, Pringle, Plumtree and so on, popping up randomly in a season mode and aligning themselves with various wrestlers so add a bit of storyline aspect to the season mode and make random matches just a little harder.

Man I'd love to see a TNA video game. I agree on the use of the Aki engine and since everyone and their mother seems to be licensing it lately (see: Def Jam Vendetta, Ultimate Muscle) there's no reason it can't be used for a TNA game.

CAW is a must, as is a season mode.

Argh, I want this game now! :)

I think that the animations of LOW are just fine, personally. The individual move animations, that is. I don't like how Acclaim refuses to make the graphics more fluid, and has their controls still extremely plodding.

Hell, make a 2D wrestling game with digitized (a la Mortal Kombat) TNA workers, but give it an Aki control system. Personally, I think that'd be pretty bitching. Instead of some 3D rendering of LowKi, you get an actual digitization of LowKi doing the Ki Krusher '99. Also, make the commentators actually talk back-and-forth. That might be kinda hard to do, but it'd be really fun.

Oh, and BE ABLE TO FIGHT INTO THE CROWDS. Since every TNA main-event does it anyways, ya know.

I don't know thing one about what engine rules or what sucks, so i'll just stick to what i do know. i DO know that they'll need blood, & it'd have to be realistic, unlike say Attitude where you hit a guy in the head & his back starts bleeding.

As for matches: Single, Tag, 6 Man Tag, 3 Way Dance, Hard 10, Cage & Clockwork Orange House Of Fun matches is fine by me. Maybe a Falls Count Anywhere or something.

Managers at ringside. Meaning, ample loads of Alexis, Desire, & yes, Vinnie Ru. Maybe stable members at ringside too, a la Triple X

GOOD Entrances, including your heros & mine, Triple X. SEX can come through their lockerroom despite it not being used anymore, just for the visual.

Lastly (for now), you should be able to brawl all over the arena. Just because it's the way of things.

CAW & Season mode go without saying, although the season mode would be limited (Dark matches, Xplosion, TNA-then what?).

Create a Move. Wouldn't be hard at all considering it isn't drastically different from the create a taunt feature in SD!4. Then again, I know nothing of programming, so maybe it is some impossible pipe dream of mine.

Most indy guys would probably love being in a video game...as it gives them exposure and leads to bigger and more paydays
