#1--Bret vs. Owen, WM X

Best match I've ever seen in WWF/E

#2--Bret vs. Austin, Survivor Series '96

2nd best match I've ever seen in WWF/E

#3--Bret vs. Austin, WM 13

3rd best m...naww, just kidding this time, but still VERY near the top.

#4--Bret vs. Bulldog, Summerslam '92

#5--Bret vs. HBK, WM XII

#6--Bret vs. Hennig, KotR '93

I like the story of the match better than Summerslam '91. Sue me.

#7--Bret vs. Bulldog, IYH 5

#8--Bret vs. Owen, Summerslam '94

Best escape-rules cage match ever, but it's STILL an escape-rules cage match.

#9--Bret vs. Hennig, Summerslam '91

#10--Bret vs. Piper, WM VIII

I do have both of the famous Iron Man house show matches on tape. I suppose I could re-watch them to make sure they don't belong on this list.

re-watch them. the owen match doesn't, but the flair one easily does.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you there buddy. I think the Bret Owen ironman is easily the best match in there series of matches

and the Bret Flair is #4 on my own best matches ever list. Of course I'm an ironman mark from hell so that might be why.

i find the first half hour of bret/owen incredibly boring. i popped in my tape of it the other night after seeing their wrestlemania bout on 'confidential', and i had to turn it off because i couldn't get into it. they fight over an armbar twice as long as bret did with flair, & they do it in a way that's half as interesting. owen's stalling is kinda cute on first viewing, but it soon gets annoying. and at one point, owen has bret in a chinlock for SEVEN MINUTES. they try to make it interesting, with bret trying to escape and all, but it's a damn chinlock. and this happens a third of the way into the match.

now...i'll agree that they turn it WAY up by the end, going 5 minutes plus into overtime, but they needed to spread the wealth a little more. and this is coming from a guy who finds the first half hour of bret/shawn engaging.

godthedog I would still rank Bret/Owen ahead of Bret/Flair.

The first 25 minutes of Bret/Owen are painfully boring with nothing but resting and stalling...BUT the last 35-40 minutes feature some of the best wrestling you'll ever see and better than anything in Flair/Bret. I just never felt Bret & Flair had the chemistry that Bret & Owen had and their macthes never flowed as well.

I voted for Bret vs Austin WM 13. Second I might actually go with vs Hennig at SS 91. That was always a favorite of mine.

That match tends to get overrated, I think. I love it to death, and is certainly one of my favorites, but it's really not that good of a match. Hennig's back was trashed throughout, and there were some really goofy spots in the match, like both men tumbling off the top turnbuckle while lost, or a similar moment where they got stuck stumbling in front of each other early in the match. Good pacing and GREAT booking, though, so it still cracks **** from me. Their matchup from 93 KOTR is technically a better match, but it completely lacks the drama of 91.

As a kid, I always marked out at how Bret got Hennig in the sharpshooter in their 91 match.

Oh, absolutely. That was the first WWF PPV I ever saw, and I was a sick mark for both guys when I was a kid. I still like the match a lot, I just don't think it's as good as I used to think it was.

oh and i agree about the SS 91 match with Henning

the ending was excellent when Curt kept on kicking him until Bret finally catched his foot and apllied one of the most painful looking sharpshooters ever.

I voted for the Owen Hart match at Wrestlemania X. That match was incredible. It holds up beutifully after about 10 years. The Psychology, pacing of the match , and near falls was awesome. It is reminds me of all the best Angle/Benoit matches. Maybe even a tad better than them. I feel this match is the best match in WWF-WWE history.
