Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I know most of you are anti-reality shows, but whatever. So, anybody watch it?
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted March 28, 2002 This is probably the best reality show out there. Mostly because you don't vote people off. If you're good, you move on... if not... well, you lose. None of that politicking that everything else is known for. I was really happy with the first one. The second one isn't as good, but they haven't really built any team up that I really hate (Like last one was Team Guido). Although, Tara and Will are pretty close. Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted March 28, 2002 I love this show. I agree, though, that there's no one to really hate yet. Last time there was Team Guido and that bitch that kept screaming "Lenny!". Any early predictions?
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted March 28, 2002 They made it kinda obvious Brennan and Rob (I think those were the two) were going to win... or at least be there towards the end by giving them very minimal air time. They also weren't that interesting, but they never were in trouble or got held up. If we were going by that route this time, it'd be those guys from New York. Personally, I like Paige and Blake... and I woulda bet money on the two black brothers. But now that they are gone... I really don't know. It'll probably be Tara and WIl to piss me off. Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 29, 2002 I'm glad I'm not the only one then You guys hit it on the nose. This show isn't really about politics and such. It's about minutes and hours. And it's probably the one reality show that I WOULD sign up for. Chris and Alex (the Bahstan Boyz) probably piss me off the most, and I see them going out within the next 2 episodes. I like Blake and Paige because they're doing whatever they can to stay in the race without actually crossing the ethical line and flat out cheating. Cutting through the bushes to finish fourth, while kinda petty, really underscored that point, I thought. And I can also see Blake and Paige winning, although Oswald and Danny seem to be doing quite well for now. I was rooting for the twins as well, but it was not to be. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 1, 2002 Amazing Race & The Mole are probably the two best reality shows. Both of them eliminate players based on performance rather than votes. Amazing Race in particular appeals to me since it is something that I have always wanted to do, since I was a kid.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 2, 2002 I figured instead of starting a brand new thread for the new season, Id put this here. Tonight is the start of the 3rd Amazing Race, and while I wasn't around to discuss the 2nd one, I will be intently following the 3rd one, so hopefully there will be a good discussion about the show. Teams Andre (Cop) and Damon (Fireman) - Friends Dennis and Andrew - Father and Son Flo (Public Relations Assc.) and Zach (Production Asst.) Friends Heather and Eve - Recent Harvard Law School Roommates (Graduates) Ken (Casting Director) and Gerard (Financial Consultant)- Brothers Teri (Homemaker) and Ian (P.I) - Married Parents for 22 Years Tramel and Talicia - Brother and Sister Michael and Kathy - Long-Distance Couple John Vito (Bond Trader) and Jill (business consultant) - Dating Gina and Sylvia - 30-Something Moms Derek and Drew - 32 year old Identical Twins Aaron and Arianne - Lifelong Friends Its too early to tell anything rightnow, other than Heather and Eve are hot.. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted October 2, 2002 Michael & Kathy are not long for this race.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I'm gonna guess that the "Soccer Moms" go first.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Well, you were right. But goddamn, Derek & Drew sure aren't doing anything to dismiss the male model stereotype. Why the fuck would they leave their luggage in the cab, and then try to outrun a team being driven to the Fast Forward?
Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Yeah, they were rather Zoolander-ish weren't they? But now they'll probably be thankful later on when they can better utilize it..
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Yeah, but not if they were eliminated this time, and it was very close. The Harvard grads are really annoying and whiney. I hope they last about as long as the teachers in the first Amazing Race.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Yeah, but I would have given them money too you know. The male models got on my nerves, but I figure they won't last much longer making bonehead moves like they did in the first episode. Id also like to say that the only good thing about getting the Fast Forward on the first leg of the Race was getting the 7 day cruise, they'll be gone in a couple of legs. I've learned something from watching the show, if you get on the show, don't piss off your Cab driver. A lot of teams have been screwed over by cab (and equivalents) drivers.. Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Another important thing in Amazing Race: try and get fluent in a few major world languages, such as Spanish and French. Seemed like the teams that could sort of speak the language did a lot better. I also detest those horrible Harvard Law girls. Sure, they're hot, but the whole "Give me money" thing was sleazy, and they are just plain annoying. The reward for most entertaining team goes to the black siblings. The guy was talking about the "Walk of Shame", and then they both flipped the fuck out when they found out they weren't eliminated. That was good stuff. I hope they outlast those annoying Harvard rejects. And what was up with the old guy that treated his wife like a slave? Like, dude, maybe your wife should be sitting in the carriage while you lead the donkey? I dunno. And the twins were really dumb. They're going out soon. Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Id also like to say that the only good thing about getting the Fast Forward on the first leg of the Race was getting the 7 day cruise, they'll be gone in a couple of legs. A 7-day cruise is nice, but it's a small consolation for da Baldies when they inevitably finish last and go to Sequesterville... Another important thing in Amazing Race: try and get fluent in a few major world languages, such as Spanish and French. Seemed like the teams that could sort of speak the language did a lot better. It seems that quite a few of these teams can speak some Spanish, so there's hope yet for some of them. I was trying to figure out why you WOULDN'T do the skydiving? The donkey ride was slow, and while there might be bottlenecks to equalize the teams later on, why not try to gain some more time on the slower teams while you can? T&T and the twins have hopefully wised up from this first leg and you know that they'll be going balls out to not get eliminated. My current favourites are the Cop/Fireman duo as they seem to have their heads on straight so far. But the thing about this show is that you never know what might go wrong. Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 10, 2002 As I watch this second episode, I'm thinking that "Team Long Distance Relationship" ain't gonna last as a relationship. I mean, that guy Michael is a serious wuss - can't swim, won't do anything extreme... what a super fun guy!! So the twins used the Fast Forward, and finished first but I don't think that they're much longer for this race. I mean, they ain't all that bright, so they'll keep dropping, and will probably be eliminated after Leg 4 or 5 Team T & T's "comedy of errors" finally caught up to them. I'm kinda sorry to see them go, because they were a fun-loving team. You hate to see those kinds of teams get eliminated. I think that the married couple will go next, unless they use the fast forward. If they don't... I'll go out on a limb and say that team NYC is out.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Amazing Race in particular appeals to me since it is something that I have always wanted to do, since I was a kid. You've always wanted to be amazing or race?
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I want those damn twins out, ASAP. They are so incredibly lucky to be where they are. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see those assholes go from 1st to like 7th. GO JOHN VITO!
Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I love this show, too. Right now I'm digging Ken and Gerrard and the Cop/Firefighter team, just because they make fun of the other teams and show some spirit. I miss the team of gay best friends from last year. They had fun on the thing, and still kicked ass. Yeah, the long distance relationship isn't goign to last, and those twins make great uber-heels. "Double Mint". The one thing is, it doens't matter how you finish, because the teams usually all catch up with each other at the airport or a gate or something. That's another cool team, so nobody can get really far ahead or behind. Pick for next week's elimantion: Long Distance Relationship or Harvard Grads
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Um, when is this on? My problem with these shows that I want to see on the networks(like this and that Lost show or whatever it was last year) is that I never have a clue when they're on. Did that Lost show get a second chance? I loved the idea. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Lost got canned, but I loved that show too cuz you pretty much write your own rules and get to a destination which ever way you want. Amazing Race is on 9 o'clock on ABC. I don't really have any team right now that I hate, they all were cracking me up last night. I like the whole "Twin Hunting" thing, where it looks like all the young couples and the Harvard chicks team up to eliminate the twins.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I love how teams get nicknames. The Doublemint Twins? (Twin guy models)..That would really only be funny if they were at some point chewing gum.. There are a couple of teams that have serious problems, (The Doublemint Twins will probably be out of the race in 2 weeks as bad as they are) but for the most part right now it looks like a lot of the teams are still in good shape. Lost was a good show too and I watched it both times it aired. But I suppose that what did it in was that there wasn't a set schedule of things that they did, as in Survivor or Amazing Race. Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Team T & T's "comedy of errors" finally caught up to them. I'm kinda sorry to see them go, because they were a fun-loving team. You hate to see those kinds of teams get eliminated. Everyone I know was cheering on T & T. They were cool. Way more deserving of another leg in the race that the old people. I hate them. I'm thinking either the old people, the Twins, or the Brothers are going out next. I detest and loathe the Harvard Girls, but methinks they're staying in for a while. They're way more heels than the Doublemints.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I'd hate to see the Brothers go - they're another one of those "fun" teams. And yes, the Harvard Girls are heels, but they're more like sneaky rudo heels. The Doublemint twins are more like Kournikova-style heels. Amazing Race is on Wednesday 9pm EST on CBS. It's opposite West Wing (NBC), Birds of Prey (WB) and Bachelor 2 (ABC). Man, I sound like such a shill, don't I?
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted October 11, 2002 The old couple is gone next. Then the father/gay son team. Then the twins. That's my (likely totally wrong) prediction. Doublemint Twins is a good nickname, but it was also used last season for the black twins, Shola and Do-whatever-it-was. My favorite team nickname was Team Cha Cha. Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Am I the only one who likes the two Harvard girls?
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted October 17, 2002 So, the cheerleader and his dad are gone. Too bad...they were another fun team. I'm actually starting to like the Twins...they aren't as bad as everyone made em out to be. It's good to see the Harvard Girls self destruct though. HA. I'm thinking that New York couple has a good chance of winning...they're both in good shape, they aren't dumb, they aren't lazy...they could go far. Thoughts? Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 17, 2002 I like the Harvard Girls, but they won't win. Color me surprised that the Twins finished first again, I thought they'd have been close to the back again..
Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 17, 2002 Well, the challenges seemed to be right up the twins alley. Plus, they had over an hour lead on the other teams to start, meaning that they had plenty of time to figure out how to get to England (and thus not screw it up). I'm glad the Brothers came in second. They seem like good people.
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted October 17, 2002 I love those two guys who came in second, I don't know if they are brothers or not. I really don't like Aaron, he just gets on my nerves for some reason.
