Hey, I was asked to let other people know about this, in case anyone is interested in going. I'll be checking it out since it's kinda near where I live:

Nyc Puro Screening Club First Date - Sunday April 7th!!!

Kim's Video is pleased to announce the formation of the PURORESU SCREENING CLUB CALLED "Tokyo Extreme Warzone" and we are holding our first ever meeting on Sunday April 7th at 2pm.

WHERE: KIM'S VIDEO 2906 Broadway (113th and Broadway) 212-864-5321

WHEN: SUNDAY, APRIL 7TH, 2PM-6PM

COST: FREE!!!!

WHY: Wrestling fans, and especially fans of japanese wrestling are a special breed. There is a strong subculture for wrestling in the united states, but for fans of puro, there is no forum offline where fans can get together, talk, watch matches, and trade or sell tapes and merchandise.

Kim's Video is an underground video chain in NYC and since I have come to work there, I have successfully lobbied to get my boss to set aside some time so we can have a nice, clean, and accessible place to watch matches and meet new friends.

DIRECTIONS: The best way I know to get there is by taking the #1 TRAIN to 110th street stop (Cathedral Parkway) and walking three blocks to 113th and Broadway. The #1 train runs the length of Broadway from 42nd street onwards north.

If you need directions, feel free to call the store at 212-864-5321 between the hours of 9am-midnight, everyday.

TOKYO EXTREME WARZONE is founded by Brandon Easton and if you need to contact him, call him at the above number or email him at:

[email protected]

Please show your support for this free weekly meeting, the management at Kim's is highly skeptical that anyone will show up at all, please do what you can to prove them wrong. Puro fans need a place to gather and celebrate and spread the pro wrestling love. Thank you.

SCREENING LIST FOR SUNDAY APRIL 7TH:

2:00PM - (FMW) Hayabusa: Flying Assassin

3:30PM - (ALL JAPAN) - KOBASHI vs. MISAWA (02/02/97 for the triple crown)

4:30PM - (ALL JAPAN) - MISAWA vs. KAWADA (i dont have the date, but this is the match where Kawada drops Misawa on his head after an Misawa attempts a hurricarana)

5:30PM - (NEW JAPAN) - Best of 2001 part one.

Damn, that's a good idea.  I'm only an hour or two away, so I just may brave the drive for the 3:30-5:30 block.  BTW, the Misawa/Kawada you're talking about is 1/22/99 (I would assume).

Yeah, I read about this on the Observer site, so I emailed the guy about it and he sent me this press release. I'd like to help him out, and I figure this would be a good way of learning more about puro, since sometimes I don't really know what tapes to order. If I meet people from the area that I can buy tapes from, that would be pretty sweet.

BTW, Kim's Video is right next to Columbia University. It has a bright purple neon sign, so you can't miss it.

Wow, what a great idea.  I wish I could be there.  Someone should do something like that here in Toronto, or every major city for that matter.

Sorry to bump this, but I just remembered that this thing is tomorrow, and there might be some area people who might be interested in going.

out of curiosity, do Kim's Videos sell wrestling tapes? If so do they sell classic tapes, puro tapes, current tapes or is it a mix of all 3.
